Get Out and Vote Today!!
Horst Hoefinger

It’s election day here in the States and I thought I’d do my part to get out the vote.

So grab your owners, head to your local voting station and make sure your bark gets heard.

I know some will disagree with me, but you really should vote C (canine) all the way down the ballot. That way you won’t need to educate yourself on specific issues and will insure your best interest will be served.

Needless to say, of greatest importance is the race for the presidency. To that end I’d like to highlight Leaf Anderson, the first cocker spaniel to run for the highest office in the land. Due to limited funds, you may not have heard much about him, so I find it my duty to get the word out.

Don’t look at this as an endorsement, but rather a strong suggestion to vote for the Leaf/Cuddles ‘08 ticket.

Here’s the campaign video.

Vote Against Cruelty
Horst Hoefinger

Whether you want Mittens or Rowdy for President this is a vote you’ll want to cast.  The ASPCA is having a Vote Against Cruelty campaign, they are trying to get as many votes as possible before election day.

Stop by their site and you can check out the candidates and see where they stand.  Read what Rowdy the dog has to bark about or Mittens the cat is meowing about.  Click on the map, see how many signatures the  Vote Against Cruelty petition has received in your state has.

Most important, have fun and then pass this on to everyone you know. The more signatures they have the harder it will be for lawmakers to ignore the dog (and cat) lovers of America.  Take a stand, lend a paw for change.

Animal Planet’s Hero Nominees
Horst Hoefinger

One of our Dogster friends, Mica, gave me a bark about the Animal Planet’s 2008 Hero of the Year.

Her big sister Mckenna has been an animal rescuer and advocate for decades. Presently she is working with “Project POOCH”, one of the nominees.

Joan Dalton, Project POOCH Founder and Director, has been selected as one of 10 finalists, out of over 10,000 nominations, for Animal Planet’s 2008 Hero of the Year!

Some Oregonians may know what this means, but Mica and I invite you to come see what it’s all about and why we ask for your support.

We hope you’ll vote for our ‘candidate’ of choice.  Although there undoubtedly are many worthy recipients, they don’t get this close to home where we CAN help make a difference every day.

I’ve read about each of the top 10 finalists, there are some amazing candidates.  I hope all the Dogsters out there will take a minute to visit Animal Planet and cast their vote, you have until October 13th.  To find out who wins, watch Animal Planet Heroes, Dec. 4 at 10PM e/p.

Dogster’s Mark Rogers Nominated As Best Pet Photographer
Horst Hoefinger

Dogster’s photographer Mark Rogers, has been nominated in the San Francisco Chronicle’s contest as best pet photographer in the bay area.

He’s in the top five and could really use your vote.

The contest ends a week from today and he’s currently in second place.  I think all his Dogster fans can help get him into the coveted #1 spot.

Walk, run, or jog on over to the SF Chronicle so you can put paw to paper and cast your vote.
