The owner of a missing chihuahua in Cincinnati, OH. offered a $1,000 reward for the safe return of her beloved pet. Carmen Dominguez and Sheila Miller say they found the dog and returned him weeks later after seeing the online ad advertising the reward.
The owner refuses to pay the reward because she thinks they stole her dog. The women claim they picked up the dog when he was about to run into traffic. They say he had no identification.
Here’s where it gets interesting, the women are now suing the owner for not paying out the reward. According to the GrandForksHerald.com the lawsuit, filed by Carmen Dominguez and Sheila Miller, alleges breach of contract and fraud and seeks damages up to $15,000.
I don’t know if the women stole the dog or if the owner just wanted to back out of paying, either way, I can’t imagine suing. So much for just being a good Samaritan and returning the dog because it’s the right thing to do.
Would you ever sue someone if you found a dog and the reward wasn’t paid? Or do you think the whole thing is ridiculous? Give me a bark.
There was no picture with this story, the handsome boy above is from Dogster’s Adoption Center. His name is Poindexter and he lost an eye after being attacked by another dog. He is very sweet and loving and in desperate need of a forever home. The poster lives in Calgary, Canada but he’s being fostered in California. He can be brought to Alberta if anyone there is interested in adopting him. For more info send email to muttsnstuff.

A Chihuahua puppy named, you guessed it, Lola, was stolen out of a car parked at a Target store. A teenager and her boyfriend had gone shopping and when they came out of the store 18-year-old Brianna Bartolone found her new puppy missing.
The thieves had smashed a window and dognapped Lola.
Police said a 20-year-old man and his girlfriend were arrested Tuesday when surveillance cameras at a Target store in Gardena (CA) caught them in the middle of a spending spree with credit cards stolen in a nearby car break-in.
Luckily Lola was recovered at one of the suspect’s parents’ house, where it was believed he gave the pup to his sister as a gift. Well, how very generous of him.
Glad little Lola is back where she belongs.
* Collette is available for adoption, she’s adorable and located in the Marina Del Ray area.

Jane Snyder’s three Pomeranians were stolen from her car in York County, PA. She is offering a $10,000 reward for the safe return of her beloved pets.
A man called claiming he had her dogs and would hand them over in return for the reward. He wanted to meet her at the K-Mart parking lot for the exchange. She left the money where she was told but never got the dogs back.
“I wouldn’t have to go through all those emotions of thinking I was going home with them and everything be the same way and they were going to be so happy and glad to see me and stuff like that,” said Snyder. “To go through that again, that was terrible.”
It’s horrible to think someone would play on this woman’s emotions and take advantage of her. Ms. Snyder has filed a police report on the stolen money and is still offering a reward.

In Brooklyn Center, MN Edgar was stolen out of his home nearly a month ago. On October 23rd Meaghan Poe came home from work, discovering she had accidentally left the back door unlocked.
Thieves had made off with a variety of items, including her best friend Edgar, a Miniature Dachshund. His dog bowl, food, and kennel were also missing indicating that he did not just take off.
“He’s by my side, he is a mama’s boy, wherever I go he goes kinda thing,” Dop explained with a sheepish smile. “He’s always at my feet, wanting to be picked up.”
That description explains why Dop’s life has been empty for nearly a month, since the day Edgar was stolen by burglars.
“Every day it gets a little bit harder just because we’re coming up on four weeks now that he’s been gone,” she said, “but I’m not going to give up hope on getting him back.”
There is a reward for information that leads to the return of Edgar, contact Meaghan Dop at devilbunny6000@yahoo.com.

A Reno, Nevada couple who was selling English Bulldog puppies out of their home were the victims of a home invasion on Wednesday.
Ross Harwood said he had been asleep on his couch around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday when he heard someone breaking down his front door in the 10000 block of Robilee Drive, in South Reno. He awoke to see two men reaching into a nearby dog pen, snatching two of three puppies.
The thieves had used either a sledgehammer or device that unhinged the door. Harwood ran after them, and Wendy, the mother of the pups, followed. The suspects’ dark red small sports utility vehicle struck Harwood during their flee, knocking him down. Then they ran over Wendy, who had been at the rear of the vehicle. She soon died.
The couple had been advertising the puppies for sale in the Reno-Gazette Journal for the last few weeks. On Tuesday a couple had stopped by to look at the $1,800 puppies, but did not buy one. Arlene and Ross Harwood suspect this is the couple who broke into their house.
What a sad story, these thieves need to be caught.
Anyone with information is encouraged to contact detectives at (775)334-2115. Secret Witness is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of the suspects. They can be reached at (775)322-4900.

I just received an update from the Indian River Humane Society, here it is in its entirety.
Mystery of “unique” lost dog solved:
(Vero Beach, Florida) – The search for the family of “Jenna,” the lost dog at The Humane Society of Vero Beach and Indian River County discovered to have had highly specialized surgery, has ended. The beautiful female Catahoula Leopard dog’s family was located after the animal shelter sought help from both the media and veterinarians across Florida.
According to a family member, “Jenna,” whose true name is Cocoa, was stolen twice before, adding that their property has been also vandalized by unknown individuals. Although the family has been able to locate and recover Jenna in the past, they gave up hope of finding her after conducting a search when she went missing last month. It wasn’t until a friend mentioned seeing Jenna’s story in the media that the family filed a lost dog report with the Humane Society.
Nicknamed “Jenna” by Humane Society staff, the 2-year-old dog was examined by shelter veterinarian Dr. Elizabeth Bybee who determined that she had previously undergone costly, life-saving surgery. Because Jenna had no form of identification, the shelter kept her medical information confidential to ensure she could be positively identified by either her family or the veterinarian who performed the surgery.
It was discovered that the family acquired Jenna through an acquaintance who had moved to Florida from Indiana. As a puppy in Indiana, Jenna had undergone extensive surgery after being hit by a car. The surgery left her with metal plates in both back legs.
Concerned for Jenna’s future safety, her family recently asked the Humane Society to place her for adoption. “It’s clear to us the family wants to do what’s best for her,” Animal Care Manager Maria Ramirez said. As a result, Jenna was placed with an Indian River County couple last Friday.
The couple read of Jenna’s plight in the media and called repeatedly to ask if she could be adopted as a companion for their Catahoula Leopard dog. By Friday evening they contacted the shelter to say, “How thrilled we all are with Jenna. She is a treasure.”
“It’s still a story with a happy ending for Jenna even if it’s not the ending we anticipated,” Janet Winikoff, Director of Education said.
Cocoa’s family showed the greatest love of all, giving her up so that she could live in a safe home. I can’t imagine that was easy, I applaud them for making such a selfless decision.
* That’s Cocoa on the right, she looks very happy meeting her new family member for the first time.

It doesn’t get much lower than this. A very brave little boy, Ryan Morgan, who has been fighting cancer for four years is now fighting to get his puppy back.
The Dachshund puppy was given to Ryan for his 10th birthday. Two weeks ago thieves broke into his Barrow County (GA) home and stole the puppy.
Even worse is that detectives think the culprits know Ryan Morgan and are aware that he is sick, according to Channel 11 Alive News in Atlanta.
Ryan was diagnosed with neuroblastoma four years ago and has been battling the illness since then, the station reported.
For his 10th birthday in July, his parents bought him a miniature dachshund to cheer him up. He named her Dixie.
“Whenever I went to the hospital or something, I would always think of her, and it would make me happier,” Ryan told the station. “I really like her. She’s cute.”
This is a despicable act, the offenders need to arrested and punished accordingly. Let’s help bring Ryan’s puppy home. Anyone with any information about the case is urged to call the Barrow County Sheriff’s Department at (770) 307-3084.

In West Seattle, WA a burglar broke into a house and when the owner came home she found her two pugs gone. The only things missing were two men’s rings and her pugs, 6-year-old male named Bandit, who is blind, and a 4-year-old female named Pippin.
Barney Lubetkin’s wife, Marsha, reported her dogs missing Monday after she returned home from work to find a screen from an open window had been bent and tossed on the deck and her drawers and jewelry box had been emptied.
Police told Marsha Lubetkin the dogs might have gotten out of the house during the burglary, but she thought they were stolen because the blind one couldn’t have gone far, she said, and nobody in the neighborhood had seen them.
What a horrible feeling to come home to find your house broken into and your beloved dogs gone. The Lubetkin’s spent weeks putting up flyers, posting on blogs, searching the surrounding neighborhoods, and following up on leads from callers. All to no avail, the dogs could not be found. On Thursday all this changed when they recevied a phone call from the King County Animal Shelter in Kent.
The dogs were dropped off at the King County Shelter where they were identified by microchips embedded under their skin. Shelter workers told owner Barney Lubetkin that an unidentified woman had brought in the dogs, saying someone put them in her yard. She then quickly left.
The shelter where the dogs were dropped off was 15 miles from the Lubetkin’s home. A rather long distance for a blind dog to travel. The shelter took the license plate of the woman who dropped off Bandit and Pippin but have no further information on her. Marsha Lubetkin said she would pay the $1000 reward offered if she is found, and is indeed a good samaritan. I’m just happy that her dogs are home safe and sound.

We just received an update on the story we posted on July 10th, concerning the six stolen Toy Manchester Terriers.
Last night one of Therese’s friends received a phone call from someone that found a cage with 3 ”min pins” on the side of the road in Sorel, Quebec (just south west of where they were taken!!). After confirmation, they are 3 of the missing TMTs! 2 older males and 1 older female.
This is fantastic news! Let’s see if we can’t help bring the other three home.
Linda Richard stated “I am home now at 9:50pm with my three stolen dogs. The Toy Manchester’s were my old Man Goofy (10 1/2), Munster (7 1/2) and Female Trouble (5). They are happy to see me and kiss me. I will pray to get back my missing dogs: Lucas, Scarlett and the young Star. I will pray to see them too. THANKS ALL OF YOU AND ALL THE PEOPLE TO HELP ME”
