Help Find Raven
Horst Hoefinger

raven_faceSadly,  today I have two posts regarding lost dogs. I just received word from photographer Mark Rogers that one of his clients has lost their standard poodle.

Here are the details from Mark’s ‘Smile Like A Dog’ blog.

Readers of this blog will remember Raven, a standard poodle I photographed a few weeks ago.

Raven’s owners need your help: She escaped from a home where she was being watched in San Jose California and has been missing since the afternoon of September 30th.

Full details can be found on this page her owners have set up but if you live in or around San Jose or know someone there please be on the lookout for her. Here are the basics:

Monica Vigil Dombeck (510) 387-1367

* She’s a black standard poodle with a non-traditional cut

* She’s friendly but can be initially shy around new people

* She was last seen in San Jose moving along Junipero Serra Lane (parallel and just north of Moorpark; just south of 280) heading East

raven_at_poodle_romp_20090927* There is a $500 reward for her safe return

If you see her or have any information at all about her, please contact

Mark Vigil Dombeck: (510) 235-6979  or via email.

We hope this beautiful girl finds her way home soon.

Unpaid Reward Incites Lawsuit
Horst Hoefinger

The owner of a missing chihuahua in Cincinnati, OH. offered a  $1,000 reward for the safe return of her beloved pet. Carmen Dominguez and Sheila Miller say they found the dog and returned him weeks later after seeing the online ad advertising the reward.

The owner refuses to pay the reward because she thinks they stole her dog. The women claim they picked up the dog when he was about to run into traffic. They say he had no identification.

Here’s where it gets interesting, the women are now suing the owner for not paying out the reward. According to the GrandForksHerald.com the lawsuit, filed by Carmen Dominguez and Sheila Miller, alleges breach of contract and fraud and seeks damages up to $15,000.

I don’t know if the women stole the dog or if the owner just wanted to back out of paying, either way, I can’t imagine suing. So much for just being a good Samaritan and returning the dog because it’s the right thing to do.

Would you ever sue someone if you found a dog and the reward wasn’t paid?  Or do you think the whole thing is ridiculous?  Give me a bark.

There was no picture with this story, the handsome boy above is from Dogster’s Adoption Center. His name is Poindexter and he lost an eye after being attacked by another dog. He is very sweet and loving and in desperate need of a forever home.  The poster lives in Calgary, Canada but he’s being fostered in California. He can be brought to Alberta if anyone there is interested in adopting him. For more info send email to muttsnstuff.

Dog Shooter Sought
Horst Hoefinger

In Forrest City, AR a dog shooter is on the loose. In less than a week two dogs have been shot, one resulting in death.

“Mozart,” a young Saint Bernard mix survived after he was shot at close range in the head. His owner, Terri Pittman says over the weekend, “Mozart” went for his usual walk to a neighbor’s house. But, she says he didn’t make it there and never returned. Pittman says she got a call from one of her neighbor’s Sunday night, telling her “Mozart” was under their carport and it looked like he had been shot in the face.

Pittman says, “He was covered in blood down the front of his chest. His eye was swollen shut and his face was two times its normal size. He looked horrible.”

Pittman says the vet removed 13 dove pellets from her dog’s face. He had a successful surgery and is on the mend. Six year-old Austin has been helping “Mozart,” with his recovery. He says, “We have to paint his sore spot with yellow paint and we have to give him two medicines to make him feel better.”

The other shooting being investigated by Forrest City Police took place on Virginia Circle, last Wednesday. The Fogg’s 10-year-old son was playing in the front yard with their Border Collie mix. He went in the house for a few minutes,  he returned to find his dog shot. Unfortunately Shadow died from his wounds.

What a despicable and cowardly act, this person needs to be found.

If anyone has information on either of the dog shootings, call Forrest City Police at (870) 633-3434. There is a reward for information leading to an arrest or conviction.

$10K Reward For Stolen Pomeranians
Horst Hoefinger

Jane Snyder’s three Pomeranians were stolen from her car in York County, PA. She is offering a $10,000 reward for the safe return of her beloved pets.

A man called claiming he had her dogs and would hand them over in return for the reward. He wanted to meet her at the K-Mart parking lot for the exchange. She left the money where she was told but never got the dogs back.

“I wouldn’t have to go through all those emotions of thinking I was going home with them and everything be the same way and they were going to be so happy and glad to see me and stuff like that,” said Snyder. “To go through that again, that was terrible.”

It’s horrible to think someone would play on this woman’s emotions and take advantage of her. Ms. Snyder has filed a police report on the stolen money and is still offering a reward.
