The Pound Is Full, Save Me!
Horst Hoefinger

The Mahoning County Dog Pound in Youngstown, OH is overflowing with dogs. There are many that have run out of time, without immediate adoption they will be put down.

If you’re looking to adopt please consider one of their sweet pups. Here’s what you need to do.

Please call the pound to place your name on the dog (ID# of dog REQUIRED) P# 330.740.2205 (prompt 1 or 2). Then contact Canine Crusader via email.

The pup above is Bruce, he’s a very scared GS who came into the shelter as a stray on August 31st. The list of dogs in need is way too long to post, go to Mahoning’s Petfinder page to view all the pics and information. Please post and crosspost, it’s greatly appreciated.

Photo Contest: What’s Shaking?
Mark Rogers

Longtime participants on this caption contest know that shots of dogs shaking themselves dry are a semi-regular event here. It’s one of those things where when you see it happen in real life it’s not a big deal but when you see a moment frozen in time it takes on a whole new (and often comical) look–especially when the dog in question is generally pretty dignified looking. This week’s shot is of one of the more dignified-looking breeds out there, a German Shepherd, looking a bit different than we’re used to…

Have at it, Dogsters. Submit your caption suggestion by commenting on this post. The winner will be announced next Monday, July 27th and will receive a 50-Zealie prize.

Can You Help Lita And Logan Live?
Horst Hoefinger

Yet another sad case of dogs who have been abandoned by the owner who adopted them and swore to care for them.

Please circulate this info, these two pups are going to be taken to the shelter where they will most likely be put down. We don’t have a lot of time.

I am so grateful to you for taking an interest in helping Logan & Lita.

At this point, Logan & Lita have been basically abandoned by their owner who moved back to England. The pups are 4 years old and were adopted months apart from each other and are very attached to each other.

They are very healthy, happy doggies that just love to be with each other and cuddle. They are potty trained, fixed, great with children and all other humans and have really sweet personalities.

Their negative faults are Logan, (the male) doesn’t get along with other dogs, and Lita (the female) has mild hip dysplasia, is overweight, and has a torn ACL which requires immediate surgery. The former owner will take care of the surgery and subsequent veterinary bills for now, but after they are adopted, it is up to the adoptive family. However, the surgery and follow up visits are covered with a fund we’ve started.

The pups have been through hell in the past few weeks, going from one foster family to another and another. Uncared for and ignored by fosters that regret taking them in after the fact and are unwilling to pick up medicine or do basic care for these sweet forgiving dogs.

They have been to 5 foster homes in 1.5 weeks, 4 in the same 24 hour period!!! They are very stressed out, not eating, playing etc.. Lita is on pain medication until we can get her medical records and schedule her surgery. The surgery is unique because of her size, so we must wait for a specialist.

Overall, they are fantastic dogs with great personalities and a loving spirit. They have such a strong bond that if they are separated even for a short while, they go nuts, so I would like to keep them adopted together at all costs and if at all possible.

Unfortunately, this terrible situation is getting worse by the day and I only ask that you put out the word and see if you can help me find a safe, loving home for these two beautiful doggies. Logan & Lita deserve it, they really do.

Thank you in advance for all of your help. I am currently looking for foster homes for them until I can find a more suitable permanent home. I have spent the last 3 weeks placing their fliers all over town and contacting every rescue group in Southern California that I know of. I also have ads in PetFinder.com & Craigslist.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me at any time, I will always be happy to help.

Thank you again, from the bottom of my heart.
