Get Out and Vote Today!!
Horst Hoefinger

It’s election day here in the States and I thought I’d do my part to get out the vote.

So grab your owners, head to your local voting station and make sure your bark gets heard.

I know some will disagree with me, but you really should vote C (canine) all the way down the ballot. That way you won’t need to educate yourself on specific issues and will insure your best interest will be served.

Needless to say, of greatest importance is the race for the presidency. To that end I’d like to highlight Leaf Anderson, the first cocker spaniel to run for the highest office in the land. Due to limited funds, you may not have heard much about him, so I find it my duty to get the word out.

Don’t look at this as an endorsement, but rather a strong suggestion to vote for the Leaf/Cuddles ‘08 ticket.

Here’s the campaign video.

Puppy Chases Off Bear
Horst Hoefinger

An adorable 8 month old  cockapoo puppy in Wyckoff, NJ chased off a bear and her cubs.  This little ball of energy showed size doesn’t matter when it comes to bravery.

A 15-pound cocker spaniel-poodle mix named Pawlee scared off a mother bear and her two cubs Sunday morning after they strayed into his owners’ back yard.

Whether his bark was worse than his bite, Pawlee’s tactic worked just fine. These three bears got the hint and took off.

Pawlee had just gone into the yard for his morning outing when he started barking like crazy.  Jacob, the Osiason’s 9 year old son, went to check to see what was making him cause such a commotion. Jacob saw a mother bear and her cubs in their yard.

Fran Osiason was concerned that the pups barking would make the mother bear come after him in order to protect her cubs. Instead Pawlee’s barking sent the cubs running for cover straight up a tree. Eventually they came down and hightailed it out of there with mom.

Osiason said she, her son, husband Andrew and daughter Eden, 6, have had Pawlee since he was about 8 weeks old. She marveled at his fearlessness.

“He’s a little fur ball,” she said.

I guess you could say that Pawlee’s bark really was worse than his bite.
