“I’m Tired Of…” Introduces New Line For Dog Charity
Horst Hoefinger

pupmilscc61c4b31961f60193608608399c8a362Our friends from “I’m Tired Of…” just introduced a new line to help support even more charities. It’s called ITo… Loves Animals.

They’ve just added I’m Tired of Puppy Mills with a new very cool charity partner, Last Chance for Animals, and they’ll be adding a lot more causes shortly. They also have new products, brand new I’m Tired of Animal Cruelty dog tags and key chains.

Are you, like me, tired of reading horrific animal abuse stories? Fed up with the lax laws and lack of legislation to punish offenders? Do you ever feel that as one person you can’t make a difference? Good news, you can, and it’s easier than you think. When you buy one of their products half of it goes to charity, you can’t beat that.

dogtag80923660376f162185dc39a3c37d94c63“Each of us has the power to make a positive change in the lives of animals in need. But, when we join together, our impact skyrockets.”

— Dan Hoffman, ITo Co-founder

Dan Hoffman and Carrie Pollare have created a wonderful company that has the opportunity to make a tremendous difference for so many causes. As an interesting aside, this brother and sister team didn’t start this company to make money, they already had a multi-million dollar computer related business. “I’m Tired Of… ” was started as a completely altruistic endeavor, they wanted to make a difference.

Since working on the blog I have personally dealt with Carrie on a number of occasions, she’s a wonderful person and the money donated from  her business is making a huge difference in the lives of so many animals.  Please support her by buying “I’m Tired Of..” products and letting other animal owners know about the company.

On a sadder note, Carrie just lost her beloved dog Noah to cancer.  He put up a brave fight but it was finally time to say goodbye, never an easy thing to do. On behalf of the entire Dogster community I want to let her know that her family is in our thoughts.

Witch Hunt For Pit Bull Puppies
Horst Hoefinger

In Mashpee, MA. a new kind of witch hunt has begun, not for humans, but for pit bull and pit bull mix puppies. Under the guise of a new bylaw claiming to protect children the owner (or keepers) of any “pit bull type dog” who has a litter must bring them to the town kennel for destruction. The bylaw claims certain breeds have “a strong instinct for dominance” and a prey drive that results in “aggressive pursuit of . . . human children.”

I find this disturbing on so many levels, I hardly know where to begin.  When your power of choice is taken away and someone else steps in to make your decisions you no longer live in a free country. This isn’t about protecting you from a dangerous breed,  it’s about the government coming in and telling you what it deems a dangerous breed and therefore making it so.

Are we not capable of making our own decisions anymore?

Here’s a comment from Best Friends Animal Society, eloquently summing up all that is wrong with the proposed bylaw.

Best Friends Animal Society feels compelled to emphasize that the aim of this bylaw is to hunt down all dogs that have the appearance of a certain breed of dog and destroy any offspring.

This bylaw is a representation of misinformed policy-makers and public making panic-induced decisions without consideration of civil liberties and reason. It takes on a school of thought similar to the witch hunts that took place in Massachusetts over three hundred years ago whereby paranoia and panic is taking over logic and reason.

I’m Tired Of Animal Cruelty Tee
Horst Hoefinger

I just wanted to let everyone know the makers of the cool “I’m Tired Of…” anti-cruelty bracelets just started selling a new t-shirt.

The “I’m Tired of…” bracelets were created to fight against the world’s issues that we are all tired of, like animal cruelty, world hunger, global warming, cancer, diabetes and so many more.

The fashionable bracelets are made from recycled tires and metals, creating a fun play on the word, tired, and cost just $10, so anyone can afford them. Then half the sale ($5) from each one is donated to charities the company is aligned with that support each cause.

Best Friends Animal Society is the beneficiary of the sales of the animal cruelty bracelets.

The new “I’m Tired of Animal Cruelty” t-shirt now comes in black. It was sold before in white but since the words didn’t show up that well they are now offering a dark tee. The words really pop, you can let everyone know you participate in the fight against animal cruelty.

The best part is half the sale ($14.75) from each 100% organic cotton t-shirt goes to Best Friends Animal Society. Go check out the new tee on the “I’m Tired Of…” website.

Halle’s Vicktory
Horst Hoefinger

Halle is the first Vicktory dog being adopted. Woohoo!

So much for the naysayers proclaiming a pit bull that’s been trained to fight can’t be rehabilitated.

Her life now is totally backwards and opposite in every possible way from her days before as part of Michael Vick’s dogfighting ring. Good for her.

You may remember that six months ago Halle went into foster care with her new mom Traci. Part of the intricate legal hoops with adopting any Vicktory dog is that the dog must first live in a potential new home for six months before being considered for adoption. There are a whole host of other things that have to happen during those six months as well (such as working with a trainer toward Canine Good Citizen certification) but in the end it all came down to waiting out the time. Traci and Halle sailed through the other stuff perfectly.

Animal Cruelty Buster- Win A Cool Bracelet
Horst Hoefinger

Are you, like me, tired of reading horrific animal abuse stories? Fed up with the lax laws and lack of legislation to punish offenders? Do you ever feel that as one person you can’t make a difference? Good news, you can, and it’s easier than you think.

Dan Hoffman and Carrie Pollare are brother and sister. They have teamed up to help create change through a new campaign “I’m Tired Of..”, with the premise that a community of hundreds of thousands of people each contributing a small amount will cause a butterfly effect. To do this they have created some very cool bracelets, for men and women, so you can show the world what you would like to change and contribute to your cause of choice at the same time.

Their newest endeavor is combining forces with Best Friends Animal Society to help raise money for the “Vicktory Dogs”, and all the residents of the sanctuary.

Just as the new season of National Geographic Channel’s “Dogtown” is about to get underway, the cast got cozy with their favorite “Vicktory Dogs,” rescued from the abuse of former NFL Quarterback Michael Vick, while showing off their “I’m Tired of Animal Cruelty” bracelets. Half the sale ($5) of each $10 bracelet goes to benefit Best Friends Animal Society, the rescue and rehabilitation center where “Dogtown” takes place.

“I’m Tired of…” charitable campaign, which truly has brought “fulfilling” back to us. What we are doing now is amazingly gratifying and eye opening.

So, here we are with the “I’m Tired of…” bracelet campaign, absolutely the most gratifying endeavor we have ever undertaken.”

Carrie has generously offered up five bracelets, men and women’s, for a contest. To enter just leave a comment in the comment section stating what you’re tired of, or what you plan on doing to make a difference. The contest starts today and runs through Wednesday, February 18th when I will randomly choose five lucky winners.

If you are looking to buy a gift for yourself or someone else, and want something special, please keep this company in mind. There’s nothing better than buying something that you can enjoy while helping others at the same time.

I know what I’m tired of…animal cruelty.

A Bark And A Wine
Horst Hoefinger

Not just any wine, a wine with a cause.  Carivintas Winery has a special collection of wine in honor of the Pit Bulls taken from Michael Vick.

The wine labels feature beautiful paintings of  each of the dogs on front, with their story on the back.

It’s a tribute to what love and patience can do to turn a trained fighting dog around. A celebration of triumph for these dogs who beat the odds.

Best Friends Animal Society is commemorating its 25th anniversary with a special salute to 22 very special pit bulls taken from Michael Vick’s Bad Newz Kennels and now living at Best Friends.

From damaged souls to national sweethearts, these dogs inspired us to tackle the very dark world of illegal dog fighting and we could think of no greater tribute than to shine spotlights on each one of them.

So, we’ve teamed up with The Dog Lovers Wine Club to create a signature wine series – a special two case collection featuring fine portraits of each dog painted by Best Friends Founder and artist Cyrus Mejia.

Cyrus was already painting the Vicktory dogs for his latest art project, Pits and Perception, a collection of larger-than-life portraits of pit bulls, supported in part by the Culture and Animals Foundation.

“The idea behind this project is to have people confront their fears and perceptions on these dogs,” explains Cyrus. “When I was a kid, Dobermans were considered dangerous. Now it’s pit bulls. I thought if perceptions can change one way, maybe they could change back. This is my way of artistically trying to change the way people have come to think about pit bulls.”

The creation of the wine labels grew out of that undertaking. Ten percent of all sales from the Vicktory Dog Wine Collection will benefit Best Friends by funding community programs such as legislative campaigns to end dog fighting and combating breed-specific legislation.
To order from the Vicktory Dog Wine Collection, click here.

Key in VDOGS for a special 10% discount when checking out. Limited time discount ends December 31, 2008.

If you enjoy wine, or are looking for a gift to give this holiday season, here’s the perfect choice.  You get a great bottle of wine, and at the same time give a little something back to help go towards bringing awareness to the cause.
