Sabrina works for an advertising agency, Park & Co, and she needs our help. Her office decided to see how creative its staff was by putting on a Video Film Festival and Contest.
Sabrina and three of her colleagues got together, along with 6 adorable pups, and showed what great results can be produced with a collaborative effort. The most watched video is going to win a $1,000 prize. If Sabrina’s group wins she is going to do something really special with the prize money which is why we all need to watch this adorable video.
If we win, we will be donating the $1,000 to the Arizona Animal Welfare League and SPCA, the state’s oldest and largest no-kill shelter. Their shelter facilities provide a temporary home for nearly 2,000 dogs and cats every year, offering medical and behavioral treatment for those in need. They are an amazing organization. Maricopa county has the second highest “kill-rate” in the nation.
Meghan Goss, Online Communications Blog Editor, of The Humane Society of the US read Dogster’s post about the improved evacuation and sheltering procedures for people and pets in Louisiana.
She was kind enough to send over a message letting me know about a video on Wayne Pacelle’s blog, along with a field report from the leader of The HSUS’s Emergency Services team.
As a pet photographer I’ve learned that the more I try to plan out a shoot the less likely things are to go according to plan. This photo is no exception. The owner wanted their Chihuahua to be forever immortalized with a dignified, regal-looking pose. No sooner did I get ready to shoot than the dog decided it was time to take care of some unfinished business.

Pebbles is the champ with a unique and interesting take on last week’s photo. Congrats, Pebbles, the 25 Zealies are all yours. Stay tuned for a new contest starting tomorrow.
This week I’m digging way back into the vault to one of my all time favorite pictures. It was from one of my first shoots–a gift to a friend who’d been helping me out. I photographed her Springer Spaniel, Max, and at the very end of the shoot I managed to catch this photo of him playing with his favorite ball. It’s not the sharpest, in-focus action shot I’ve ever taken but I’ll take the expression on his face over that any day of the week.

This week’s photo contest champ is Patti Gondeck for her short, sweet and witty quip. See her winning caption below and be sure to check in tomorrow for the next contest.
We think all pups are lovely, but we admit there are some breeds who stand out from the crowd due to their atypical appearances. Here’s our list of the ones who make us say, “Bow-WOW!”

Remember, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I thought Sheba, my Neapolitan Mastiff (see #4), was the prettiest girl in the world, though plenty of people say Neos look like monsters. Rubbish!
