Ever wonder why humans don’t just take a hint from our four-legged friends and forgo the towels when we dry off? Life would be so much more amusing. I just love this shot of a Vizsla shaking himslelf dry at a local park. Just makes you stop and smile.
So, there you have it, Dogsters. Put some words in his mouth and impress me. The winner gets 25 Zealies and shot at fame. The victor will be announced next Monday, October 13.

Sometimes it doesn’t pay to involve the judge of a contest in the punchline…but this is not one of those times. This week’s winner, Coffee, takes the gold for a truly funny (and frighteningly accurate) entry. Guess what I found on the bottom of my shoe when I got home after this shoot?
Enjoy the 25 Zealies, coffee. Everyone else be ready for the next contest coming your way tomorrow.

I love it when catch dogs doing something eerily human. This was the case last week on a photo shoot I did for two pups who’ve been together for years and literally act like a couple. When I got back to edit the shots I kept coming back again and again to this one (for obvious reasons)
Let me know what you think they’re whispering to each other and the best suggestion will win 25 Zealies. Just make a comment on this post and replace “What was I thinking?” with your own words. The winner will be announced next Monday, October 6th. Also, be on the lookout for a best-of “What Was I Thinking” edition of the contest coming your way in the next few weeks.

Every once in a while you come across a winning entry that you just know has no equal. This week we have just such an entry. While there were lots of really good ones this suggestion from Sparky just takes the cake (and the milk). I gladly pass on a well-deserved 25 Zealies to you, Sparky. Everyone else be on the lookout for a new contest tomorrow.

This week’s entry is from a recent dog photo shoot I did here at local Whole Foods Market that involved the owner bringing his two chihuahua’s into the store after their evening park outing to pick up dinner supplies. The pups make a regular appearance at the store so all the staffers and many of the patrons already knew them and acted as though it weren’t a big deal. Boy, do I love living in a dog-friendly city.
So, make me proud… make a comment on this post and replace “What was I thinking?” with your own suggestion. The winner gets 25 Zealies and will be announced next Monday, September 29.

Lots of very funny entries this week, Dogsters! You all are getting very, very good at this and it’s getting more difficult each weak to pick the winner. However, in the end there can be only one and this week that honor goes to Scout. Enjoy the 25 Zealies and everyone else be prepared for a truly amusing photo contest tomorrow.

As a pet photographer you rely a lot on serendipity to get a lot of your better shots. The one in this week’s contest is no exception. I was visiting a local San Francisco dog park with my dog, Bizzy, along with one of his favorite toys. Biz wasn’t quite fast enough retrieving it on one throw and a bearded collie ended up getting their first. Within seconds two other dogs converged and I barely had a chance to snap off one shot before the band on the toy broke and everyone went their separate ways.
You know the drill… make a comment on this post and replace “What was I thinking?” with your own suggestion. The winner gets 25 Zealies and will be announced next Monday, September 22.

The victory this week goes to Dogster member Buddy for an entry that really made us laugh here at photo contest HQ. Your victory nets you 50 Zealies and and a vigorous ear scratch. All you other aspiring captionists get ready for the next contest appearing on a Dog Blog near you sometime tomorrow.

This is one of my favorite pictures from 2008 so far. The Pomeranian and Chihuahua came into a local store in San Francisco where I hold monthly pet photography sessions and actually posed like this for over a minute. The tongue out is no fluke – I couldn’t believe it. This week we’re going for another twofer quote - one for each dog. Just make a comment on this post and replace each “What was I thinking?” with your own suggestions to score 50 Zealies that you can spend in the Gift Shop!

Congratulations, Dogsters. The suggestions for this week’s contest were outstanding and you made picking the winner exceedingly difficult. However, after much soul searching and gnashing of teeth we have a champion selected. 3 Girls takes the crown with her witty (and somewhat naughty) take on what our talented yellow lab had on her mind when this photo was taken. Congrats, 3 Girls, the Zealies are yours.
Be ready for another contest coming your way tomorrow…
