Dr. Jim Richards, Great Cat Friend, Passes to Rainbow Bridge
Joy

Dr. Jim Richards.jpg

Morgan the Pirate Gato meowed in to let the rest of us know that the feline world has lost a great friend, Dr. Jim Richards.

Bowing our heads in sorrow, and saying very special prayers - we are sad to say Dr Jim Richards, the Head of the Feline Medicine Center at Cornell University, has died in a motorcycle accident. One newspaper in Ithaca is reporting that he swerved to avoid a kitty.

Dr Nero and Dr Richards just spoke a few weeks ago about me in Miami - and I was hoping to meet him when I went back to Cornell.

Many many kittys will run to meet him when he arrives at the Rainbow Bridge - he has saved many many lives.

And this is a very moving tribute from Morgan the Pirate Gato’s Catster page:

Joy

Joker.gif

Eddie Essig barked at me this morning to let me know the Dogster community has a new little buddy at the Rainbow Bridge. My sympathies to Joker’s family.

Hi Joy,

I’m sure you know by now, but little Joker crossed the Rainbow Bridge early this morning. I am pasting a message from Mickey (Joker’s furdad) and would be very thankful if you could post it on the blog for any Dogster who has had the privilege of knowing Joker.

And yes, Pops, we understand that even six months with a dog can change your life. It’s ot the amount of time; its the emotional connections we share.

And yes, as I read your diary entry below for Joker, my eyes are leaking with yours.

Dogster Duchess Moves to Rainbow Bridge
Joy

Duchess.jpg

This has been a very sad week for many in the Dogster community. Duchess, the grand dame of the Pet Poetry Group and beloved member of other Dogster groups has unexpectedly passed over to the Rainbow Bridge. We will all miss her.

Even now as I type this I find myself tearing up as I think about her loving family and her many friends who will feel a Duchess-shaped hole in their lives for some time. She made her mark on many of us.

If you would like to share the joy of Duchess’ life there are a number of things happening around Dogster to commemorate her life.

Dogster Nikki Moves to the Bridge
Joy

Nikki

Every time I hear about another Dogster passing, I’m saddened. I know how it feels to have a furry loved one go beyond where you can touch and hold them again. It hurts in ways only those of us who let ourselves love them understand. So my heart goes out to Nikki’s family and friends. But remember, while you hurt, she is free of the pains of old age. Look for her in your dreams!

Thanks to Gale, Chloe’s furmom, who barked in to give us the sad news.
