Here are the most recent updates from Bill Whiting on the Edna murder case.
Victor Rodriguez was just convicted on four misdemeanors.
DA, Heidi Grogan appeared in front of Philadelphia juvenile court Judge Docherty. A wise decision on Ms Grogan’s part led to not to pursuing the felonies, as she had a card up her sleeve. Seems, young Rodriguez also had an outstanding warrant for auto theft. He was tried this morning for car theft, and was an adjudicated juvenile delinquent just moments before entering the Edna hearing. He will be sentenced on March 31st. He remains in custody.
And here is some additional information also from Bill Whiting, Edna’s furdad.

Is this a new form of Breed Specific Legislation (BSL) hysteria? As far as I can tell, these dogs have never threatened anyone or anything. The worst anyone can say is that maybe the rabies vaccine doesn’t work but there’s no evidence either way according to the vet on the video.

Just when you think humans can’t get any more vindictive, some judge does this… The court may be able to order DDB to remove info on Doogie but there’s a whole lot of us out here that aren’t under that order and I don’t think any of OUR reports on Doogie and DDB are going to be disappearing any time soon.
Thanks to Donna B. and Gizmo the Great for barking in this news from the DDb site.
2/22/08. Today Grimes was sentenced to 300 hours community service for a ‘people organization’, because ‘people are dogs too’. She was also ordered to pay for the cost of the trial. This was justified by the judge because she said that Grimes chose to go to trial over ARD, therefore she should have to pay for it. Isn’t it every person’s right to go to trial? Does that right come with a price tag? Interestingly enough, according to Grimes’ attorneys, this is not only NOT OFTEN done, but RARELY done. The costs were around $1700.

What was this judge thinking? If City Magistrate is an elected office, I hope someone is planning on running against Michael Lex next time he has to defend his seat.

Looks like Georgia is taking dogfighting seriously. Also, lets keep reminding law enforcement that many people involved in dogfighting are also involved in other kinds of crime. If the police can convict them on dogfighting charges as well as other things, all the better.

Tammy Grimes is a hero for all of us who feel it is time to treat all species humanely. She has requested that the court jail her as a way to protest the local goverment’s lack of concern for animals.

On December 14, 2007, I was convicted of theft and receiving stolen property for coming to the aid of this dog, who lay chained, unable to stand, and suffering in an East Freedom, Pennsylvania backyard.
Despite overwhelming evidence of cruelty on the part of the dog’s caretakers no charges were ever brought against them by either the humane officer or the police. A private criminal complaint filed by myself and Dogs Deserve Better languishes unaddressed on the desk of DA Richard Consiglio.
Both video evidence of the dog struggling to get up and after-photos and video of the dog walking were suppressed from the jury. These videos are currently available for viewing on YouTube and our site.
