If you’re a Dogster or Catster in the St. Louis area I want to invite you to join me at Heartland Weimaraner Rescue’s Trivia Night on October 20th! So round up a team of folks who share a broad range of information and just plain trivia and come on out to support a fabulous, hard-working rescue organization!
If you aren’t familiar with Trivia Nights let me tell you how this goes. You get together a group of eight or fewer people (or come on out and join a team who needs a person or three). BTW, some of the best teams have people of many ages because questions can cover ANYTHING. You spend a fun evening with your team playing against all the other teams. The team that gets the most answers right wins a prize package. But everybody really wins!
All the players have a great time and the rescue wins because it raises money to help dogs who otherwise would have no one else to help them. Win-win all around!
Here’s the info on the Heartland Weimaraner Rescue event:

Thanks to Kaye, Mr. Spot’s furmom, for barking in this invitation to all Australian Dogsters. It sounds like it’s going to be such fun!
Dear Dogster Friends:
In Australia, we are celebrating the Year of the Life Saver - those surf heroes who volunteer their time to provide rescue and safety services on beaches right around Australia. They have to raise their own funds to buy equipment -boats and surf skis and training equipment for juniors.

If you live near Collinsville, Illinois and are a science fiction fan, come on out to the North American Science Fiction Convention which is also Archon. It’s at the Collinsville Convention Center and runs August 2nd through 5th.
While this is not really a dog event, there are always lots of dog and cat lovers among the authors. And if you like cat collectibles, you’ll find things wou won’t see in most pet stores.
Hope to see you there!

If you’re anywhere around Memphis, Tennessee next weekend, I’d love to see you at MidSouthCon, the Midsouth’s premier science fiction and fantasy convention! I’ll be there with a whole lot of great folks as Memphis welcomes author Terry Pratchett (one of my all-time favorite writers!). Terry (or maybe Mr. Pratchett since he IS British) is the author of many, many books including the Discworld series. The event is at the Holiday Inn Select on Democrat.
So if you do drop by the con, visit me at the panels and come on over to the Dealer’s Room where I’ll have a table with several other writers. I always love meeting Dogsters!

Well, it has taken much longer than I expected to read through the entrants for the “See Your Dog in a Book” Contest! So many fantastic and worthy entries came in I wanted to give each and every one full consideration. Let me tell you, I could people (or is that dog) a book from the many, many wonderful Dogsters who were kind enough to nominate their dogs! I finally came down to four or five finalist, all of whom would make fascinating new characters. Two of those will definitely be showing up in the Haint sequel!
Thank you to everyone who entered! It’s very possible that more than the two winners will make it into this sequel. But no promises since I’m in the earliest stages of writing it.
So with no further delay, let me introduce two of the newest characters who will be appearing in Haint’s yet unnamed sequel:

Keisha, Pebbles‘ furmom, wrote in asking about the recent contest to be a new character or breed in the sequel to Haint.

You know I love books and I love Weimaraners (okay, all dogs) so I wouldn’t miss a chance to help out dogs AND be around books! If you’re out shopping in the St. Louis, Missouri area and need a couple of books, drop by the Creve Coeur Borders at 11745 Olive Blvd. and say, “hi!” I’ll be there from 2-6 PM with the fabulous Heartland Weimaraner Rescue wrapping books for donations.

Thanks to all of you who’ve written in asking how the trip to Colorado went! It was a blast and I met many interesting, delightful humans and dogs!
The booksigning in Nederland was in the delightfully cozy Old Town Books! Here’s a big bark out to owner Kimba and all the fun folks (human and canine) who showed up to chat! Check out Pete in the picture to the left. Pete and his human Jim are serious outdoors afficianados. They canoe and hike all over North America! BTW, Kimba still has a few signed copies of Haint if you happen to be up her way.
