Now this looks like a blast! I am soooo envious of you NY dogs who can get to this event! Beatrice even asked me if we could take a road trip to get to see the world’s biggest dgohouse and all those treats!

It looks like puppy mills finally have an opponant they can’t shake off — Oprah!
Thanks to Mary O. of BanOhiodogAuctions for barking in this article. The first article is about Oprah’s show tomorrow where she is expected to call for passage of the Pennsylvania legislation that cracks down on puppy mills.
Oprah to push Pa. dog law
By Amy Worden
INQUIRER HARRISBURG BUREAU
HARRISBURG - Talk about a lobbyist with clout.
Oprah Winfrey - the woman with the power to send authors to the top of the New York Times best-seller list - is planning to appeal to viewers tomorrow to back a crackdown on puppy mills in Pennsylvania.
Winfrey is expected to read excerpts from a letter Gov. Rendell sent to her last month seeking support for legislation to overhaul the state’s dog law, according to participants in a Monday conference call with producers of The Oprah Show.
Thanks to the Guardian.co.uk for this amusing article. BTW, you can check out both the YouTube videos mentioned in the article. The Obama video is at the top of this post and the Clinton video is at the bottom.
Barack’s cats and Hillary’s dogs battle it out for the White House
Emine Saner The Guardian, Monday May 5 2008
Maybe it is because the Clintons dumped their cat Socks when Bill left the White House that Democrat cats (I resist the strong urge to call them “Democats”) are turning out for Barack Obama. A number of felines have demonstrated their support on the Cats for Obama website, often by sitting on a poster or T-shirt, which obviously means they approve of the Illinois senator’s strong voting record on animal rights rather than thinking it’s a comfy place to take a rest. Why so many cats are coming out in favour of Obama is puzzling pollsters because, known for being selfish and superior, if ever there was a Republican animal, cats would be it.
If you live in Europe you’re probably familiar with one of the best dog magazines on the market, K9. Every month K9 features an interview with a popular personality about their dogs and their views of dogs. This month K9 Featured Kim Kardashian.
In the very canine spirit of sharing, K9 is letting me run some extra parts of the Kardashian interview that you won’t see anywhere else, including their own site. Thanks, K9!
Kim Kardashian has her own reality series and adorns the pages of many celebrity gossip magazines. She loves dogs and recently caught up with Kim Bruce at K9 Magazine for a chat.
Thanks to Charlotte C. for barking in this invitation to see the Oprah puppymill video at Pomrescue.com.
Anyone who missed the Oprah show on puppymills can see it here at pomrescue.com. I’ve already seen the effects of it in the applications I’ve got for my foster Pug, from people saying they will never buy another dog as long as they live. It’s worth seeing.
One of my favorite channels, the Animal Channel, is premiering a new show April 12th. Groomer Has It will feature 12 groomers competing as they live together in an LA house.
This show will either be fascinating or a total trainwreck. Maybe I’m creatively challenged but the idea of dueling groomers scares me more than it entices me.
I think back to the similar human-focused reality shows and I’m very afraid for the dogs. I mean, be honest, haven’t you watched Project Runway with disbelief when the models walk down the runway bedecked in Hershey’s kisses’ bags? And what about the haircuts and hairstyles on these shows? So what are these competing groomers going to do to these Poodles and other dogs? Please say that they’ll keep the cuts on the up and up and not try to get too artsy. Of course, coats will grow back but does anyone really want to live with a post-modern dog cut?
I’ve got my paws crossed that the show barks on a high note!
GROOMER HAS IT sniffs out 12 of America’s most devout dog groomers to compete against each other in a test of desire, creativity and affinity for animals as they shave, shear and shampoo their way through a series of challenges that will crown only one as “Groomer of the Year.” The contestants will be put through their paces to see who can turn the shaggiest pooch into a beautiful, prancing pup beginning Saturday, April 12, at 9 PM (ET/PT).
If you’re a science fiction fan like I am, you are also probably a Torchwood fan. Now I’m an even bigger fan knowing that one of the stars of the show is also a dog lover!
