About Mark Rogers, Site Photographer

Mark Rogers is a professional pet photographer living in San Francisco. Mark and TroubleHe specializes in candid, often humorous, photographs of dogs, cats, bunnies and pretty much any other sort of animal considered a pet — many of which appear every Tuesday on this blog’s popular photo caption contest. He moved to the Bay Area in the late ’90s from the east coast when his job with a well-known but often reviled internet service provider brought him, his wife and then six-year old German Shepherd out west.

PetuniaA lifelong shutterbug and animal lover Mark started the path toward his pet photography career when he began volunteering for Give a Dog a Bone, an environmental enrichment program for protective custody dogs at the San Francisco Animal Shelter. When his portraits of those dogs started receiving notice he began taking on private clients as a side job but soon realized he’d found what he truly loved to do and turned it into a full time gig several years ago.

His most recent photos can always be seen on his blog, Smile Like a Dog, which he contributes to on a regular basis
