Man Rescues One Dog, Gets Ten

A good Samaritan, Gary DeNicola, rescued a stray dog running in traffic, most likely saving her life. What he didn’t realize at the time was he saved 10 lives, she was pregnant. When he picked up the dog she was starving and emaciated, it looked like she had been nursing but when he searched the area for puppies but didn’t find any.
He took the dog home and put her in his spacious backyard to keep her safe, he was worried about bringing her in because he has a 12-year-old and wasn’t sure how he’d react. DeNicola planned on dropping the dog off at the shelter the next day, things didn’t work out exactly as planned.
Here are the details from the Atlanta Journal Constitution.
That evening, on Sept. 27, DeNicola noticed the dog begin to hunker down in a garden bed. Next, she was giving birth to one, two, four, seven, and then nine black and tan puppies.
DeNicola began making calls to shelters and soon discovered many area animal rescue groups are at full capacity. People struggling financially had abandoned their animals, and many pets were turned out during the flood, he was told.
“And one shelter wouldn’t take the newborn pups until they were vaccinated,” he said. “I realized — they are mine.”
DeNicola is now raising the lucky litter on his own until he can find qualified, permanent homes. He built a special pen for the dogs in his basement, not wanting to mix the new deliveries with Tiger, who isn’t sure how to handle the strange sounds coming from below.
It’s always great to read a heartwarming animal story. A big thanks to DeNicola for stepping up to the plate and making a difference, we give him four big paws up.
If anyone is interested in adopting one of Ruby’s adorable puppies you can contact DeNicola via email.

Awww…they’re so cute…that was nice of him to save their mom, I know there are a lot of people who would just let a dog run around in the streets, thinking, “It’s none of my business.”
What a wonderful man. A lot of men would have just drove by. No disrespect intended. Most men just are not like most women, tender hearted and don’t have that natural rescue instinct. But I want to say thank you to Gary for what he did. He is a real Hero for Ruby and her babies. God works in misterious ways. I believe God guided him to take that detour and discover this Mama to be and take her home where she could rest and have her babies safely. And they all would be loved and have good food to eat, fresh water and a safe place until she recovered and her babies would live. Babies and Mama would find good homes.
Aw, I love reading stories like this! I wish him luck in finding those pups good homes, but I doubt he’ll need it. He seems very responsible and just look at those little faces!
That is a great and heartwarming story – so many dear people out there that will help – made our whole day happy to read that!

I love reading stories like this, bless Mr. DeNicola for not only caring for the rescued dog but her puppies as well. Those puppies are adorable.
Now there’s a good man! Thanks, buddy!
We need more wonderful stories of selflessness like this. Blessings to this family.
I don’t know who I’m more in love with . . . . . . .
those adorable puppies or their Hero Gary !!!
Is he married?
If so, does he have a brother?
I wish there were more people in the world like him!
What a good heart you have!!! Just like my Mom and Dad! I was rescued from a lady who did not understand dogs. I lived 22 hours a day in a crate, only let out to eat and go potty. They found me by accident and talked the lady into letting them take me to their 5 acres in the country. I’m half Sheltie, so the space to run and ducks, geese and chickens to heard is right up my alley. I also have 2 cogie best friends and we “play heard dogs” with their horses.
What a great story!
