Our Last Month As Bloggers
I want to let everyone know that this is the last month Lisa and I will be the bloggers on For The Love Of Dog. I can’t tell you how much we have enjoyed working on the blog over the last year and a half, and we hope that our postings helped make a difference in the dog community.
The blog is going to be going in a bit of a different direction, a little lighter. This is great and I have no doubt it will be fantastic, but while working on the blog over the last 15 months Lisa and I have discovered we have a true passion when it comes to dog rescue. We want to continue working on the issues that have become so important to us, get the word out about all those dogs in need, let people know how they can help.
We will still be on Dogster everyday, and continue to be very active, just not blogging. You can always reach me via pmail, Facebook, or Twitter. You can stop by Bo’s site, BoKnowsOnline, or his new author page at BAD TO THE BONE MEMOIR. And you can always order Bo’s book online at Amazon, or your favorite retailer. We will continue to write freelance and are looking into working with Anna Nirva on Sunbear Squad, will update when I have more details.
Our time on the blog is coming to an end so let’s make the most of it and have a great November.

So are the wonderful stories going away. I have learned a lot from the stories and know things I might not have if it had not been for the stories on Dogster. wonderful stories that you don’t hear on the news.
Horst & Lisa,
Thank both of you so much for the wonderful stories and information that you provided through your blog. Your blog always starts my day since it is at the top of my homepage. While I rarely connected to the main Dogster website, I never missed reading your blogs and comments to them. Good luck in your next adventure and know that you both will be missed.
Aw, shucks! Why do you have to go, exactly?
Love all the good stories!
Wow!
What a great job you guys did!
woof and Aroo
I understand your desire to work with rescues. I think it is a noble thing to do. I have rescued for years by taking in strays that did not have homes. But last year I rescued my first dog from a group out of Ohio. Now I do what I can to support rescue organizations and get the word out. I will really miss all the great stories and information. I always looked forward to reading them. Thanks for dedicating your time to a great blog.
I am going to miss you guys. I don’t spend much time on dogster, but your blog is always one of my daily reads. Your stories make me laugh and often cry. You tell it like it is, always honest and gutsy and nose to the ground. This nose is leading you in a new direction, Nero and Homer and their Mom wish you luck and happiness and paw you a double high five.
What?! No way. Who do I complain to? That is wrong, wrong, wrong.
The rescue part is great though.
I don’t want you to go. They are going to take my bones (2001 and counting) and my favorite bloggers, too. Will you blog on Bo’s Blog?
Bosky Boy
Aww, sorry do see you two go!
We will very much miss your daily presence on Dogster but will follow your doings on all the links you’ve provided. Your blogs & stories have been some of the best ever.
We palaud your desire to do more for animal rescue. There are so many in need of rescue & so few to rescue them. Mom is eternally grateful for the help your blog has provided for North Mecklenburg Animal Rescue & all the others your caring has helped.
Bo, we know you will continue to do your best to keep the Family in line. We know what a full time job that can be!
This is sad news. BUT… I truely understand. You have highlighted so many stories and given so much of yourselves to raise awareness. You will continue to do so I know in the Rescues as you have before.
I am proud to call you friends… and hope we shall be able to build further on that in your new direction.
Now… the blog is going to be ”lighter” …. hmmm so does that mean the real issues will be shoved to the back again? I truely hope not and that will devalue the hard work you have both put in to raise issues.
Horst … Lisa … Bo and Family… Fair thee well….
Oh we just read this news and will miss miss miss you all, but you have so much to give and to do that is important and we know that it is a right move. It has been such a privilege to know you all and you are dear to our hearts. xoxoxo Sarge and Rocky and mom xxooxxoo
Thank you so much for the time you spent. I loved reading the rescue stories and where people needed help. Will miss you!
Oh no!
I really just started getting into this blog a little over a month ago, but I’m glad you’ll still be around on the dogster site! I look forward to reading new entries in this blog, so you’ll definitely be missed. <3

I have really liked being a part of so many of your blogs while we have been here and am sorry to see you go. I do however wish you much luck with whatever your new adventure is! Binx and Susan
By the way, we sent you a friend request on Facebook
But, but, but….
Sometimes there are just no right words ta bark. I’ll be sniffin ya out… and many dogs will find furever homes…just like me…because of you.
Ya’ll rock!!!
We will miss you very much here on Dogster, but you will both be a great fit for the For The Love of Dog blog. It is very issue-oriented and doesn’t soft-pedal for fear of alienating advertisers.
Love and licks,
Dixie BlackPearl & Ol’ Buddy Burt
p.s. We love Bo’s book and look forward to sharing it with others.
Horst and Lisa, and Bo, I’m really going to miss your blogs, and miss YOU. I’ll look you up on Facebook (after which you’ll get a friend request from Vicki Moore – so you’ll know who I am). If you two are ever down in Australia, and Perth in particular, give me a shout on here or Facebook, because I’d love to treat you to a meal for all the wonderful blogs, and for the joy of getting to know you all. Warm hugs from me and my little sweetheart, Pogo xoxoxoxoxo
While I do understand why you are leaving, I’m still sad to see you go. Thank you for all the wonderful stories you have written…it has been such a joy to read them and I always look forward to them. I wish you the best, and will definitely be following you on Facebook!
Hugs,
Millie & Grammy Linda
Oh, this is such sad news! But good news for all the doggies who you will be able to help! I love your blog Horst, it is so informative and honest and to the point. It’s also been very interesting to see how other pawfriends feel about all the interesting articles that you managed to stir up. I will miss you and Lisa! Yet I am very happy to hear of your new adventure that is so badly needed for our pawfriends.
So why not use this blog as a place to keep us informed on the rescues that you will be involved with?
I can’t think of a better place on Dogster to have everything in one place, instead of in so many different groups and forums.
I have seen many times where people are looking for a specific dog to rescue, but when this dog is out of state they figure their is no way to rescue it.
You and Lisa would be invaluable for so much information to help in such situations.
Not only that, but you would have the means of listing dogs on death row, before Petfinders list them. I have seen some shelters wait until the animals only have a couple of days or even a day left before they start asking for help. If you could list these animals from day one, it would give them a better chance of avoiding PTSD.
You would have access to a list of High Kill Shelters, rescue groups, listing of dogs available, contacts etc.
A rescue site with all that information from a trusted person such as yourself would give so many dogs a better chance of being adopted, and would help to unconfused so many people as to who and where to go when they need help.
I hope you will consider this, in the meantime I wish you all the best, and thanks for a very interesting blog..
I must say I got a lump in my throat when I read this headline. I really, really hate to see you go, but I do so understand your passion. It is mine as well. There is no one better than you to give a voice to the voiceless.
You are the reason my beloved Hope found her furever home, and for that I am eternally grateful. If I never get to save another dog, I can die happy that my Hopie found love. It does take a village to save a dog. Thank you for all you did for Hope…and for me.
Take care my dear friends. Dogster will not be the same without your words.
I will no longer read Dogster. Sorry you are leaving – best of luck with the book.
