Her Time Is Up, Can You Help 1054 ?

OH184.14951349-1-pnHow sad is this, a beautiful senior lab who is going to be put down without anyone even knowing her name?  She was picked up as a stray and is only known as 1054.

I have no doubt she was a very loyal, loving companion and now she is nothing but a number. Her age is unknown, but she is obviously an old gal.  Don’t let old age fool you, if you’ve never adopted an older dog before this girl can bring more joy than you can imagine.

She is located at  Portage County Dog Warden Shelter in Ravenna, Ohio. You can reach them at 330-297-6924.  There is no time to spare,  I know there is a perfect family out there for this beautiful girl, is it you?

Please post and crosspost this message, before it’s too late.

This is such a sad story. Someone out there owned this dog and must have just left her. How sad is that. I ended up with a senior reject several years ago. A neighbor was leaving the state and was going to dump her old dog of 11 years old at the pound not wanting to take her. So I stepped up and took her home with me, not wanting her to go through all the fear and waiting for her master to come get her, it was the best thing I have ever done. She was wonderful and I had the honor of sharing over 4 years of joy with her. Please some one step up and take this one home. They don’t deserve this and can make your life so happy and joyful. Take the chance it is worth it.

Oh gosh, I hope someone steps up to rescue her. I live too far away and rent, otherwise I would take her. She looks so sweet.

  3. Barbara,

I cross post to my contacts, though most are in the south, they may know of some in the north, etc. I pray that a rescue saves her or a guardian angel. It is so sad when senior pups are no longer wanted because of one reason or another. She is in my prayers. God save this poor baby.

Is there an update on this beautiful senior girl, was she saved.

  6. Pogo

Horst, is there any way to find out how this lovely girl fared? Been thinking about her ever since I saw your post.

Call the Shelter! I sent an email to Senior Dog Rescue in Ohio, but haven;t ehard back yet. I know they were full to capacity last week.

  8. Angel

Oh, somebody help her! I’m gonna send this to as many people as I can…

  9. Christine

I posted this on every forum I could. I wish I lived closer so I could take her myself. It just breaks my heart. Is there any way to keep me posted on her?

For those of you who have shown an interest in her. If you Seriously want to adopt her, you can email or call any Rescue in Ohio. Just Google it, most Rescues have leg-service and will go out of their way to get the dog to you.

You can also try aopa.org they are pilots who volunteer their time to fly a dog to a guaranteed rescue or furever home and also have a list of Rescue groups in every state, I am sure they will help you.

I hope someone steps up and saves her.

I emailed the shelter asking them not to destroy her and if it is donations they need for her care to let me know and I will try to get as many as possible to donate if she cannot be adopted.

I’m in Australia so can’t do much at all, except pray that she gets rescued/adopted. That’s fantastic Christine – I hope they reply in the affirmative. Poor beautiful sweetheart.

  13. Sandra

I emailed buy got no answer. Would have taken her.

  14. Sandra

Would have taken her but got no answer from the shelter.

Keep trying Sandra!! When I wanted to adopt my dog Lia, I called the shelter 10 times and never got an answer. I finally got through by email. Leave messages, write emails, visit if you are close enough. Lots of times shelters are crazy busy and overwhelmed, please be persistant!!

That would be wonderful if you could help this beautiful dog!!

    GREAT NEWS EVERYONE!

I spoke with Sarah at the Portage County Dog Warden Shelter a little while ago she said that she’s being picked up shortly to go to a rescue in Wisconsin named Gregory’s Gift of Hope and she will be staying with a foster home until she gets adopted.

  17. Patrice

Christine thank you so much for this wonderful, wonderful update!!

  18. Sandra

Jennifer, I’m in touch with Gregory’s Gift of Hope. Am waiting to see if they can find her a home. If not, I’m interested, even though it will be a bit more complicated getting her to Canada. Appreciate you sharing your experience with Lia!

  19. Jennifer
