Kate Gosselin: I Had To Choose Kids Or Dogs
In September I posted how Kate and Jon Gosselin gave up the German Shepherds they had so badly wanted. Or maybe they just thought adding a few cute puppies into the mix would make their ratings go higher.
On Monday TLC had a Kate Gosselin special: You Ask, Kate Answers. This may be why I never bother watching TV, but I digress. On the show she claimed that she had never intended to give them back to the breeder. But yet she did?
Here are the details from USA Today.
They were returned in September amid the fallout of her divorce with Jon Gosselin. Kate said at the time “they’ll come back, but for now I needed a break.” But now, though she didn’t rule out bringing the dogs back, it sounded unlikely, The (Allentown, Pa.) Morning Call reports.
“I had to choose between the dogs and the kids and the kids come first,” said the Jon & Kate Plus 8 turned Kate Plus Eight star.
I cannot believe she said she needed a break, and that the dogs may be back. Seriously, give me a break. Does she think you can just give your dogs away like their objects, excess baggage, and then you can just take them back at your own convenience?
I said it before and I’ll say it again, this is one selfish narcissistic woman. I think she needs a reality check, life isn’t just about her.

Too bad she can’t be given back to her breeder. We need a break from her, she’s trash and lets just forget she even exists.
While I don’t agree with shuttling the dogs back and forth, I think she did the responsible thing by giving them back. She was never there to care for them and honestly, as soon as the dogs peed on the carpet, the cute factor wore off for her. They were really Jon’s dogs and he didn’t take them back and forth to NY to his apartment so they really didn’t have a choice but to give these dogs back. I think she has NO intention of getting these dogs back, she just didn’t want to sound mean. I’m not sticking up for these idiots but would you rather they kept them holed up in cages all day long while being ignored!?
She needed a break ? Oh please ! Lot’s of people have kid’s and dog’s and cat’s. You have them cause you want them. She should go back to where ever she came from.
I heard about this and was downright disappointed… Dogs aren’t something that you can just get sick of or be too busy for. They’re part of you. The only episode of Jon and Kate Plus 8 I could stand to watch was the one where they bought the dogs. It was playing and I heard that she returned them to the breeder but nothing else and I was very disappointed.

Their mistake was getting the dogs in the first place.
Thank god they went through a reputable breeder who took the dogs back – i think it was quite clear that that was where this was headed from the beginning
But we all know Kate is all about Kate and Jon is all about Jon – even their kids are just possessions to them, to be used however they see fit to ‘one-up’ each other. Jon wanted the dogs, Kate put on a front, and, the minute he was gone, so were the dogs he abandoned to her ‘care’ while he went off thinking he was going to be Hollywood’s next mega-star and started sleeping with anything that breathes. She’s a narcissist, so is he, and the dogs are probably in a much better, safer, healthier environment away from them all. God help those kids!!

It’s fine giving the dogs back to the breeder, that’s what you’re supposed to do.
BUT,
If I was that breeder she wouldn’t be getting them BACK.
Obviously she can’t handle it. Or maybe she’d rather be spending her money on bad haircuts handbags than hiring a dog-walker.
8 kids, AND two dogs? That’s the crazy part. They should have known they couldn’t take on two more mouths to feed and bodies to care for… but, who am I kidding? They went ahead and had eight children, so they obviously don’t THINK before doing…
I hope for the dog’s sake that they are placed in new, loving homes and don’t go back to the craziness that is the Gosselin’s life.
Come on. She needed a break. I search and found fosters for my dogs I had when I lost my home to foreclosure. I was not giving my dogs up with out a fight. And God made a way. To me it sounds like they just thought the GS pups would draw more viewers. You don’t give up family members. But if you never considered them family, then you would give them up. And don’t like they really wanted the pups. I think she is a selfish ?. She not be allowed to have another dog.
SHe never wanted those dogs in the first place, that was clear.
So, she should have kept the dogs no matter what? What is wrong with doing the responsible thing – what is best for the dogs? She didn’t drive them to the pound for execution. She returned them to the breeder who never should have sold the dogs to a family with 8 kids in the first place. I find the lack of insight and empathy for PEOPLE on this site puzzling. I thought dog lovers were good hearted.
I agree, just about the only decent thing this woman has done is take the dogs back to the breeder, the best thing for the dogs all things considered. That being said, she’s still an irresponsible creep in the other aspects of her life.
As far as empathy or sympathy for this woman, she put herself and her family in this unfortunate position and she’s doing a terrible job of it in my opinion.
Dog lovers are generally good hearted folks, but we know a load of crap when we see it, and not just the kind we scoop up.
My hoomans have triplets and lil’ ol’ me. Hoomans need to recognize their limits. The hooman body was not meant to carry six babies at once, nor were hooman pawrents intended to raise six chldren the same age. That being barked, Kate is about as narcissistic as they come, and Jon is worthless as a man and father. I wish they would go away… they’ve had their fifteen minutes. Their kids are adorable, and our pawrayers are with them. I wish I could give them some of my special Edie-grrrl kisses!!!
Why would anybody with that many children think she would have time for two puppies? It was all for ratings. Shame, there are people like me who have always dreamed of having a GS to love but just can’t afford one and this woman just tosses them back as if they are objects. Sadly this is what she is teaching her children.
Can someone tell me why people even WATCH trash like this? How on earth did these two ever get a tv show? I’m with Mollydog; pity SHE can’t be given back to her breeder while everyone else can take a break from HER
I thought it was a bad idea for them to get dogs in the first place with that many kids. Of course having that many kids is a bad idea in and of itself, but….
I’m glad that she did take the back to the breeder rather than keeping and neglecting them or dumping them on someone else (free to good home, etc.) . Perhaps the breeder will be more choosy next time.
I dont think she is fit to keep these 2 beautiful dogs in the first place. She’s too wrapped up in trying to get back at Jon. These dogs deserve more attention and quality time.

Kate needs a reality check!!! When you make a commitment to bring a dog into your family it becomes a member of your family. You honor that commitment and work it out. Now that she violated that commitment she does not deserve to have the dogs back.
I have to say like a few others on the comments that even though I don’t care for her decision and can’t imagine myself ever doing it she did the responsible thing, period. How many times have I heard you guys chastise someone for dumping a dog or goodness forbid killing their dog because they couldn’t be bothered with it and say wow they couldn’t just take them to a shelter? Well she did that and we’re still complaining.
Hopefully, the pups will be rightfully placed in a nonchaotic, opportunistic environment. Hmmmm, I wonder when she’ll return the kids to the IVF clinic. Goodbye what’s-their-names
I hope the breeder opens their eyes and gives the puppies away to a responsible/fairly intelligent owner. I mean, Kate can hardly take care of her own children, what does she need dogs for? Scenery? Some people just don’t DESERVE dogs. Their living, breathing beings with feelings, not some rentable object. I say with all my heart: “Give the puppies to someone who cares.” (Not to someone who’s fame matters more than family, furry or not.)
She did the right thing in giving them back to the breeder. Hopefully, the breeder will find a better home for them and not let her or Jon have them back.
She isn’t the type to train any dog properly and could have very well have had issues between the dogs and the kids, and those results could have been worse. So, she did the right thing..
She never really thought ahead about what having dogs would involve. No volunteers come to help you, they aren’t moneymakers like the kids and there won’t be a show built around potty training. For her, if it’s not a show opportunity, why have them.
Sorry, but kids are more important than dogs. I have 2 dogs and 2 kids and if I had to chose, the kids will always win. Thankfully, I have not been put in that position. That said, I will do everything in my power to ensure that I never have to make that choice because we have to be responsible for those we bring into our families – including pups.
As a parent, she made the choice she felt was necessary (do not judge her reasons before looking at yourself *truthfully*). Better the dogs get another shot somewhere else, in a home that can provide the attention they need.
kate is SCUM and is a poor excuse for a women, i had kids ,dogs ,cats, horses and 15 head of cows and had plenty of time for my kids and the animals, she doesnt deserve to breathe our air , always a excuse, the poor dogs were in her way because of the MONEY, COLD BLOODED BITCH ,just as bad as vick. be mean and abuse and throw away ,surprized she didnt throw the kids away to, there in her way of the flipping money. so sick of her lying selfish ways,,,,at least the dogs might get a decent home full of love…..kate forget how to love anything but the god almighty dollar….i think you idiots that stick up for her are lousy people who dont deserve any animals ….animals are family….STUPIDS…..my family rescues city people throw aways so i have a right to comment ….freedom of speech.her ex isnt any better,hey how many beatings did those dogs get from these two jerks….poor excuse for parents….
I think she is just a money hungry woman with really no regards to any life form, I believe she has no idea about family pets,they are family and not just throw backs. Heaven help her because is she a very stupid woman. And I am glad I never saw her show!
