Michael Vick Refuses To Visit Former Dogs

Horst Hoefinger

ollie1053034_1255236065Michael Vick was given the chance to visit some of his former dogs who are housed at Bay Area Doglovers Responsible About Pit Bulls, also known as BAD RAP.  He was going to be in the Bay Area this weekend when the Philadelphia Eagles are in town to play the Oakland Raiders.

Here are the details from The Associated Press.

“We understand Vick is trying to right his wrongs and is very interested in redemption, but you can’t find redemption without acknowledging your victims,” Racer said. “Making amends to the dogs themselves would have helped to create some closure for many of us, especially those people who worked so hard to keep them from being destroyed. It seems that Vick is not ready to go there.”

The visit would have taken place at a location where Vick could view the dogs from a distance so that it satisfied the conditions of his parole that bar him from being near animals.

Despite the fact that Vick claims he is trying to ‘right his wrong’  he declined the offer.  Maybe he was afraid the dogs would recognize him.

*Ollie is available for adoption, he’s on Dogster’s Adoption & Rescue Center.

My Mama used to watch the tv series lost. At one point back before it got too confusing, a character named Mr. Eko told a story about a boy who had killed a dog.

Later the boy said he was afraid to die, because he knew he would go to hell. He wasn’t afraid of hell, but he was afraid that the dog he had killed would be waiting there for him.

Mr. Vick. Someday you will regret this. Not because of the money it cost you or the loss of popularity. But because you will have to face what you have done.

  2. Angel

He shouldn’t even have dogs, much less visit them! This is why Pit Bulls get a bad rap. I hope all those dogs get a good home with people who know how to care for them.

  3. jim

Micheal Vick is a sorry piece of garbage and those dogs are much better off not seeing him ever again.

  4. Mollydog

Jim you’ve insulted all garbage, Vick is lower than the most putrid filth one could imagine. I think It’s best he stay clear of the dogs, they don’t need to be reminded of the atrocities they went through at the claws of this slime dwelling sub-animal vermin other wise known as Michael Vick.

  5. Ddraig

As a rescued dog, I would prefer NOT to see “Mr” Vick…
He needs to stay safely w/his friends who seem OK with his “issues”.
Good luck to all the pups out there looking for Forever Homes!!!!!

  6. poochie

Amends to the dogs? Sounds like these people want Vick to make amends to them, the humans. That they were able to keep the dogs from being destroyed is it’s own reward. You don’t need Vick for “closure”. Dogs live “in the moment”, we need to learn that too and move on.

  7. Daphne

I am glad that the dogs didn’t have to see him and I hope that they never do. They have their second chance at life and I hope that it will be great (and Vick-less). As for Vick… You can’t repent for something that you refuse to even acknowledge.

  8. Gracie

That piece of scum doesn’t have the guts to face those dogs. But like Samoa said, one day he will be forced to face them.

  9. Samoa

    karma, doods.

  10. Kirby

MV shouldn’t even be allowed to be in the same state with those wonderful pups. I can’t wait until MV rots in HELL!

  11. Flicka

Pond slime has no concept of remorse or redemptiom. He has made that stingingly clear.

I am VERY pleased he isnt going anywhere near those.. or any other animal.

Personally I hope he lives in Hell on Earth for what he did.. I hope he feels physically ill daily from what he did… but you know.. that would take acknowledgement .. and he has none.

Like all trash he will disappear in an inferno of cleansing… in which life is as yet to be seen.

  12. Lois

I can honestly say “Who cares” if he chooses to visit. He did not care about them when they belonged to him. I personally think he’s a low life and because of people like him that’s why this breed that I love with all of my heart has such a bad time. Because of people like him people who have no knowledge of this breed dis-like them.
This really doesn’t surprise me, that he chose not to visit them. I believe that he would still be breaking the law fighting his dogs if he had not got caught. I wonder if he is truly sorry. In my own opinion I doubt that he is sorry.

  13. Tom

If I were Vick’s dog I wouldn’t want him to visit either.
Do you know why? Do you? The answer is because
I am a DOG. Are you people insane?
    1. The court ordered him to stay away.
    2. We are talking about dogs.
Do you think that Vick has any reason to apologize to a dog? Do you think that he is willing to possibly violate his parole.to apologize to a dog because a few dog nuts think that he should?

You people need to get a life and possibly have some human children to discover what is important in this horribly crazy world!!!!!!

  14. sarahkate

Tom it is people with attitudes like yours that make a lot of people like me refuse to have human children – to bring them into a world inhabited by suchlike as you would be wrong. The news article was written poorly like about 99 percent of media misreporting in lousy writing. What is important in this horribly crazy world that you want to browbeat the rest of us with is this: deep respect and caring for living things. And you know what I’m not going to count Vick among the “living” because if anyone doesn’t have a life it is him. His soul and his heart died the day he decided to start viciously abusing other things. Soulless and heartless things are not living. They are dead – it’s just no one has bothered to tell them as they just aren’t worth wasting breath on.

Kind of like you, with the attitude you demonstrate.

  15. Tom

Just to be straight, you refuse to have children because I feel that people are getting carried away by asking Vikck to say he is sorry to a dog?( Notice I did not comment on his crimes, just his choice not to violate his parole.) Sounds to me like someone can’t get a date. By the way he was never charged for killing the dogs.

  16. Pogo

Tom it’s clear you don’t really have much empathy for dogs. What are you doing on this site then? It’s very clear YOU don’t have any concept of what’s important in this crazy world, as you so eloquently put it. You just don’t GET. IT.

I’m very relieved those poor dogs don’t have to be visited by the slimebag, and as someone else said…karma. He has a boat load waiting for him.

  17. Shadow

Tom – also, please consider those of us who are UNABLE to have kids who choose to defend dogs…
The dogs do not need MV to be anywhere near them. They, and their rescuers, have worked very hard to help them to trust humans again and the LAST thing they need is to see their tormenter to throw them into a backslide and undo everything that they’ve accomplished!

  18. Tom

I do have plenty of empathy and sympathy for dogs. I would just as well save my outrage for humans, such as human rights violations both here and abroad. I DO GET IT. I am afraid I get it all too well.

  19. Schnooks

This says a lot about his so called remorse. Coward. All of those dogs deserve a change to pee on his leg. However, dogs being dogs, they would probably lick him instead.

  20. Tucker

I’m thinking Tom is a huge football fan and maybe he can’t see past the game to the scum but that’s ok, he is welcome to his opinion that’s the wonderful thing about our Country we live in. The funny thing is Tom, if MV was allowed to visit those dogs do you know what they would have done? They would have walked up to him, tails wagging with acceptance, because dogs live in the moment and they don’t carry grudges, unlike us humans who won’t forgive or forget what he has done. MV just might carry some shame for what he did but that doesn’t mean he has remorse, there is a big difference.

BTW, I have a daughter who I love very much (wow, I’m capable of loving her and my dogs) and she loves dogs just like I do AND she thinks MV is scum of the earth too but what does having children and loving animals have to do with one another, you lost me there.

Me thinks you belong on a football blog talking about how Mike did his time and he should be left alone, you won’t find that sentiment here.

  21. Kenyon's mom

Here’s the thing. Money talks. Poop walks. Michael is poop. Chicken poop. He’s walking. AWAY from anything moral that doesn’t involve a paycheck for him.

Michael is back in the National Felon League making some big moolah to pay off all those nasty debts he’s acquired. He’s got a documentary/reality show slated for BET that will help line his pockets a little more.

There’s no money in it for Vick if he agrees to see the dogs. So he’s not going to bother. And sadly the HSUS has misguidedly propped him up as a shining example of what NOT to be when you grow up.

Very telling action on the part of Michael. Very stupid on the part of the HSUS and BET and NIKE and NFL.

For those of you who didn’t read the article, the viewing would be arranged in a way that Michael would be separated from the dogs so as to obey the order of the court concerning any interaction with animals.

Michael Vick is too cowardly to see those dogs. The ones that he fought, and more importantly the ones that he tortured. There’s another little fly in the ointment…he tortured dogs. He didn’t JUST fight dogs. If they underperformed for him he electrocuted them in the swimming pool with a battery cable set up, he beat their heads on the ground until they died or he held their heads under water until they drowned. That’s not all. He stole family pets pulled their teeth and/or taped their snouts shut and tossed them into the ring as bait to get the fights going.

He’s tried every excuse he can muster to lay the blame for his sins on his bad childhood, poor upbringing, blah, blah. Only fools buy it. At some point you have to lay your childhood aside and take responsibility for your actions however horrendous they may be.

He’s not fit to be a role model for anything. Yes, everyone deserves a second chance, but not on a shining pedestal propped up with dollar signs. He needs a minimum wage job cleaning toilets in the football stadiums. Not that would be fitting.

  22. Abbie and hemi

what a scumbag, hes not sorry for anything he has done, hes mad because he got caught . hes as bad as puppy mills people seeking the god almighty dollar,,,,,,Karma will catch them all…..ten fold, and he doesnt deserve a second chance at anything….nothing but KARMA

  23. Kelli

He still has not shown any sympathy or remorse or what he did and has not stated so publically. He will have to stand before God in the end and we shall see if he repents then, its not up to us to judge, because in the end he will get what is coming to him (although I think he is a pile of crap and not worthly of walking the earth or of being a human, he is lower than dirt and I would love to give him the justice that he so rightly deserves-the same treatment he put those dogs through); but in the end, its not our decision; but I truly pray he gets his in the end….

  24. Bev & Bailey

BAD RAP is such a wonderful group! Major kudos to BAD RAP, Best Friends and the other folks who stepped up to the plate and found forever homes for the Vick dogs. They are angels walking among us!

  25. Carissa & Kolbe

Tom, why is it people like you seem to think that if people love and have empathy for dogs and fight for them, that they A.) have no life, B.) don’t have children or C.) Don’t care about people? What is it with this mentality? You are not the first person I’ve come across that seems to think this way. Newsflash – you can HAVE ALL OF THE ABOVE! You can care about and fight for dogs, you can care about and fight for people, you can have a life, AND you can have kids! Imagine that, being able to be compassionate about more than one freaking thing!

I am sick and tired of people that assume because I care about animals that I automatically don’t care about people. Meanwhile these are usually the same people sitting on their asses whining but don’t actually volunteer or do anything themselves. Quit whining and get up and do something.

  26. lesliek

maybe it’s best the dogs don’t see him. it might make them remember that awful, terrifying life he subjected them to.

michael vick: you’ll get what you deserve, the worst karma anyone can imagine. that’s far worse than going to jail.

  27. Daisy

Wish Michael Vick visited the dogs so they could bite him for a change.

  28. Carol

How does Tom know we don’t have human children? Yes, Vick does need to apoligize, EVEN to a dog. Especially to a dog. You are surrounded by dog lovers and advocates, Tom, what were you excepcting? This is DOGSTER after all, Tom. He didn’t have to actually KILL a dog, Tom, to have committed heinous crimes, which he confessed to. To the rest of us, Tom, dogs are important, that is why we joined Dogster, why are you here?

  29. poochie

If any of you knew anything about karma, you probably wouldn’t be spewing all this hatred. I think what Michael Vick did was horrible and disgusting. BUT, Michael Vick didn’t get away with anything…he served his time, paid his price. There were consequences for him. What else do you people want? More blood to fall? When does the vicious cycle end? If we could focus on the positive things that came about from MV’s actions, we might feel a little better…because he is a high profile figure, this serious issue came to light and maybe it will help prevent future dog abuse.

You are all right, if the dogs were to see him again, they would wag their tails. That is the good that is in all dogs. We need to be more like dogs…let them be the example, and let *God* do the judging for us.

  30. Pogo

Poochie, I know a lot about karma. I know that it comes to people who don’t learn from their mistakes/errors/crimes/you name it. MV hasn’t learned one bleeding thing except how to manipulate to get what he wants. I also know that karma is visited on those who have earned it – and he has – his prison time means absolutely nothing because it is blindingly obvious that he hasn’t learned one single thing from his time behind bars. He is still trying to blame others – those around him, his background, again, you name it. Karma is visited upon others in the most appropriate way so that they can learn the lessons they need to from life. Oh yes, I know full well about karma. I don’t judge MV. That’s for Someone higher than me. I can loathe him and despise him for what he’s done though, and I can find him disgusting, because like every person on this planet I’m entitled to an opinion.

But yes, you’re right to reiterate that those poor dogs would, if they saw him, probably wag their tails, because that’s what dogs, bless their beautiful hearts, do.

  31. Sallie Mae

MV got away with way too much. Yes, he served a sentence, but he should have to give much of the “wealth” he is getting to the humane societies that cared enough to rehab those dogs, that continue to take in more horrible kept dogs that were fought and treated the same as he did. Playing football, so what, 75% of the money should be paid to help other dogs, cleaning toilets, so what, 75% should still belong to the dogs that have and some that continue to suffer by human hands. MV will never truely realize what he did until someone hits him where it hurts—and for MV, that seems to be his pocket book! I am also really disappointed that he was able to go back to playing football, as he loves the media attention, whether it is positive or negative. He actually should be allowed to clean kennels, with lots of poop, while the dogs are out of them, never to be in direct contact with any animal again, but cleaning poop would certainly be the only job he should be able to have. He should not be allowed all this media attention, on or off a football field!! We often forget that there are young kids out there, that do not have the right guidence, due to bad circumstances in their life. They see what he did, then see the hero aspect of MV on the field, and do not grasp the horrible thing he did! And yes, these poor kids somehow know that he got away with it.

  32. Daddy

Of course he isn’t ready, he doesn’t want to be reminded of the hundreds of dollars he lost when he was in jail and then spending time that was supposed to be prison time in the luxury of his own home (”house arrest). He’s a disgusting individual and deserves no sympathy.

  33. Koda

Big surprise…he’s not really sorry…yeah no one saw that coming.

  34. Abbie and hemi

poochies mom i know all about karma and more than u do he deserves it ten fold

  35. poochie

“There are personalities that are selfish and hostile and negative, but even in these cases, we cannot fully know the reasons why. These are hidden from view. That does not mean we cannot recognize negativity when we see it, but we cannot judge it. That is not our place. If we intervene in an argument, or break up a fight, it is not appropriate that we judge the participants. Of one thing we can be certain: a person that is engaging in violence is hurting deeply, because a healthy and balanced soul is incapable of harming another”

-From The Seat of the Soul” by Gary Zukav.

  36. Carissa & Kolbe

“he served his time, paid his price.”

He served time for Racketeering, not for Animal Cruelty or any of the barbaric things he did to the animals. Just to make that clear.

  37. Jenifer

“Tom” is clearly compensating for something. I think we probably all know what he is compensating for. Anyone with the chest-beating macho machismo with overlay of fakey-fake “concern” for humans is blowing a whole lotta smoke to cover the fact that he’s just posing. Sorry Tom, you are outed as a “small” disappointment. And why in the world are you bothering to lift your mouse-finger (probably your signal finger of choice as well) to click on Dogster? This is a community of dog-loving Vick haters. Vick hating is a legitimate pastime and encompasses a strong distaste for the legal system that only punished him for the money end of things, not the torture/murder end of things; it encompasses a strong dislike for an obscene-money-driven brutal and violent “sport” to which too many kids aspire (football); and mostly Vick hating is an incredibly strong backlash against those who have no respect for all living things.

  38. Abbie and hemi

it is our place to judge, someone has to be there for the animals. and some people are disgusting and totaly hypocrypts. also in my 50years i have seen enough abuse people have done to animals and i have called the police more then once also i have saved a few chihuahuas through the past few years from idiots who said they loved there animals sooooooo vick deserves a couple of rusty nails ,a stump, and a dull rusty knife to cut his own balls off. so he can feel the pain he put those poor dogs through. poochies mom speaks alot of bull quote from a stupid book…i have a healthy and a happy soul ,and yes im angry at idiots that dont know any better then to be mean to everything in there path.its all about the flipping money, and god is just a imaginary friend for adults. your god is mean cause if he was real he would let this garbage happen. i worship mother earth and her beautiful creatures.hell our yard is dumping grounds for unwanted pets from the cities, yep dump them off in the country.real cool huh. so i have the right to judge when i have to feed and take care of them throw aways…..open your eyes and put the stupid book down and look around ……..
