Michael Vick NFL Dog Jerseys, What’s Next?

Just when you think you’ve seen everything along comes a customizable Michael Vick dog jersey. What more could a dog lover ask for?
The L.A. Times reports that fans can orderĀ the Philadelphia Eagles dog jersey with Vick’s name on the back on the NFLShop.com site.
A New York Daily News reporter successfully purchased the “custom pet jersey,” making it clear that Vick isn’t on the league’s list of words and names shoppers cannot use for customized jerseys.
“Like any other player, [customers] can obtain that name and that jersey if they wish,” league spokesman Greg Aiello told the Daily News. “As far as putting it on the dog product, he’s working with humane societies, working to educate others on this issue, so we don’t see a problem.”
I cannot fathom a dog lover walking around with a Michael Vick jersey. For that matter, I don’t know why anyone would possibly want one. A Michael Vick dog chew toy….maybe.

I actually just posted about this today as well. I cannot believe that the NFL doesn’t see this as a problem.
I’m pretty hot over this whole story. I won’t be watching any NFL games this year… I don’t want to support them, or the sponsors who are supporting the Eagles.
Sick people, very sick
and I’m part of this race?
excuse I have to go throw-up
paula
This id disgusting. These people are idiots……
When I contacted Pepsi they said he had only been “conditionally reinstated,” as if that made any difference! The point is the NFL was willing to take Vick back, conditionally or not. And what about that player who killed a woman while he was driving intoxicated? There should be a ban in that person’s name, as well as for the dogs. I am still banning Pepsi and Gatorade, walked right past the Pepsi on-sale, which hurts because I need to drink diet drinks with Splenda (another sponsor) because nutri-sweet bothers my migraines, and Pepsi happens to make a diet drink with Splenda. It’s Tap Water for me, last I heard Tap water doesn’t sponsor anyone.
And I am banning the whole NFL, because it’s not just the Eagles, the Eagles couldn’t hire Vick without the nod from the NFL.
I’m sick to death, I just can’t put into words how I feel about this. This is all I can write….damn, I’m just going to go scream.
I cannot believe that that the NFL and Eagles is taking the whole Michael Vick animal abuse so lightly. And now to have a jersey for dogs with this monster’s name on it. The only way I might think this was a little good, if every dollar from the sales of the dog jersey went to animal rescue and the fight against dog fighting. It is a slap in the face to dog lovers especially those who are parents of the Bully Breeds to have this man’s name on a jersey for dogs. The NFL and Eagels are taking the whole Michael Vick dog killer and abuser way too lightly. I grew up watching football with my mother and father and always had great respect for the game, now I’m not so sure. And I am a die hard football fan, it is the only sport I really watch. I am really disappointed.
Here is an idea for an awesome youTube video. If someone with a pit bought one of these jerseys and taped the dog defecating and urinating on this jersey, or just ripping it to shreds if the first option is too gross. I’d put that video on constant replay.
I will NEVER watch NFL football , never buy anything with NFL affiliation, never . Vick should never be allowed to play. Its just wrong, on every level.
The NFL doesn’t give a darn abou ANY of us – and this slap in the face to EVERY home with a dog is proof of that!!!
Come join our letter-writing and boycotting campaign against the NFL,Michael Vick and the sponsors who condone this abject monster. We need every bark
Dogster Group – For the Love of Every Dog
This has to be the most insane thing I’ve ever heard of – shame on ANY animal owner who would even CONSIDER owning a Vick jersey or put one on their DOG. Has the NFL gone mad?!
We are boycotting all sponsors of the Eagles, written letters and emails to the NFL and Eagles sponsors, and have been posting the info on Facebook as well. You can join the Dogster group For the Love of Every Dog to get all the info easily!
The thing we all need to remember is that the entire thing is a greed thing. It’s all about $. As long as “fans” watch the games & buy the products and give publicity to these folks, they’ll go right on with whatever they’re doing that’s profitable. Don’t forget that dogfighting involves drug trafficking, money laundering, & other sordid activities, to which the authorities turned a blind eye in Vick’s case, or he’d still be in jail for other crimes besides the animal abuse. We need someone like Oprah to take up this cause, like she publicized the puppymill issue…
I agree with Patricia – this just goes to show that the only thing they care about is making more money. Greed is exactly what led to the abuse and murder of those poor dogs to begin with. We’ll be boycotting the NFL and their sponsors until the issue is resolved in a just way!!!!!!
To Agnes’ Dad: you are on the right track! Did you know that in European hotels, 00 is the number designated for toilets? The right # for that POS. What a joke!
I agree with Patricia. Get somebody like Oprah involved and I would hope that the NFL would reconsider their decision. Of course I don`t see that happening esp when it is all about $$$$
Some friends and I have discussed that everyone should buy one, take pictures of our dogs “doing their business” on the jersey, boxing the “dirty” jersey up, and sending it to Eagle’s headquarters COD!
WHAT!? There now making a dog shirt that represents a dog murderer! People now a days are so willing to anything to make a quick buck that they are actually making something that is so disgusting! I just makes me sick to even think that people are so greedy that they will make something so wrong in so many!
One thing wrong with people buying the jerseys so they can show their dogs soiling them, you’re buying the jersey we all hate and paying them money in the process. If they see their official jerseys being ravaged they’ll just laugh all the way to the bank.
Get a plain jersey or T-shirt and make your own facsimile of the jersey then let your dog go to town on it.
People that are going along with all this B.S. back up their support for this man by saying that everyone deserves a second chance. Hello?! Isn’t going to jail for a MINIMAL amount of time and being allowed back out into the community, after a heinous felony, a second chance? Torturing and killing numerous animals is more than just a little felony. It’s MAJOR.
The NFL taking him back isn’t a second chance. It’s the NFL blatenly turning a blind eye to the fact that he tortured and killed numerous dogs. IT’S THE NFL, AND OTHER ENDORSING COMPANIES SAYING THAT IT IS OK TO TORTURE, MAIM, AND KILL ANIMALS.
Forget the fact that it’s a felony. Other people who commit lesser felonies, heck, even misdemenors, that serve more jail time, and when they get out, rarely if ever do they get to return to their previous “profession”. Most have to attempt to humbly try and try and try to find any sort of blue collar work that will hire them. Yet he gets to return to making big bucks for a professional football league. That’s WAY more than a second chance..And now for companies to basically make LIGHT of his heinous crime? Disgusting. I hope he gets booed every time he hits the field.
We should go to the games and BOO HIM TO DEATH WITH BIG SIGNS ALSO… I went to a soccer game and I saw them do that to a VERY famous player in Los Angeles and the guy didnt like it he didnt even finish the game…
I think everyone has it wrong! You need to buy this jersey. Stuff it to look like Michael Vick and then give it to your dog to attack and rip apart. Money well spent. Maybe even make a video of the destruction and post it on youtube and even send to the Eagles so they can really get the message on how we feel.
Either that, or no one must buy the jersey and the company that is making them can choke on their losses!
Put yourself in my shoes, I’ve been an Eagle’s fan my entire life! I was born just outside of Philadelphia. I’ve also been an animal lover my whole life. I think this year I’ll have to follow other friends and family members teams. My luck, this will be the year the Eagles finally go to the Super Bowl. I can’t tell you how disappointing it was to hear this news of Vick signing with the Eagles. I just can’t bring myself to follow the Eagles with Vick on board. It goes against everything I believe. UGGGGGG. At the end of the day it’s just football and that I can live without. My dogs on the other hand mean much more to me than nearly anything.
Don’t buy the Michael Vick dog shirt! Let the manaufacturer truly “lose their shirt” in negative profits. Boycott all the NFL games until Michael Vick’s reinstatement is revoked.
I love the idea of a dog doing it’s business on a Vick jersey, but I agree with the others–Don’t buy an actual NFL jersey. That totally defeats the purpose of any boycott. The Eagles get a cut of that sale. Make a jersey out of an old sweat shirt or something.
I truly love that idea. Package up the shirt in a plastic bag (keeps the mail carrier from smelling it), put it in a box and inundate the Eagles front office with Vick s***!
Please spread the word to your animal loving friends to boycott sponsors and if possible stand out front of any venue that the Eagles will visit and make it clear that Vick is not welcome.
We can vent on this site ’til the cows come home, but if we don’t put our anger into action it does no good. I can see this whole issue being old news by the 3rd week of play. Our country has super short memories.
Make Vick’s life miserable with every city he visits.
While I wouldn’t buy the Vick jersey for my dog, it should be pointed out that any player’s jersey can be customized for a dog.
Is it in incredibly poor taste? Yes.
If only Vick’s jersey were available, would it be reprehensible? Yes.
Is it only Vick’s jersey that is available? No.
Do I wish Vick a short tenure in his return to the NFL? Definitely.
I don’t think that M. Vick should be allowed to be anywhere near the humane association!!! He should be required to donate a majority of his earnings to them. I am pretty sure I know what kind of people will be buying this shirt for their dog. I don’t think that a short jail term can change a person’s heart and feel that any remorse that he states he feels is bogus!!!
I have no quarrel with Vick being signed on by any team who’s willing to risk the iiability of infamy and evil. Vick has NOT done his time or shown remorse. There will be no rest for his soul or reward on this earth until he pays his dues for all the harm and damage he has caused to God’s voiceless and most defenseless ones. They are His prized angels. The book of Revelation speaks of God’s avenging angels for those who trample on the lives of sentient beings.
Without redemption, Michael Vick will spend his eternity begging for mercy from the merciless.

I just keeps getting worse doesn’t it. Take a look at my blog at blog.caninekingdom.com/

I would love to have a doggie shirt that says “NEUTER MICHAEL VICK”
He is about as remorseful as my big toe! He just knows what to say and do to get back to earn that horrendous salary he DOES NOT DESERVE! I would love to throw him into a pit with about 25 dogs and see how he fights,,,
He is a first classed a**hole
Just saw Dogtown and how Vick’s dogs are being rehabilitated. They told how these dogs were treated and the same treatment should be given to Vick. How can the NFL hire him back? They should be ashamed to have him on the team. He should be made to work for an animal shelter scrubbing floors, cleaning up after dogs and digging graves for the ones who don’t make it. Vick’s dogs have come a long way with the help of John Garcia and others at Best Friends.
