Michael Vick Dogs To Vicktory Dogs
Cherry and Georgia, former Vick dogs sent to Best Friends Animal Society, are on the final leg of their long journey back from hell. The dogs have resided at Best Friends since January 2008 undergoing rehabilitation, they are almost ready to leave for new families.
Spokesperson John Polis and John Garcia who is heading up the dogs care at Best Friends in Kanab, Utah were interviewed on USA TODAY.
“We feel that in the very near future, Cherry may be ready for foster care,” says John Polis, spokesman for Best Friends.
“When we first got him, he would just splay down on his belly. He had just totally shut down. John had to carry him everywhere in the beginning. He’s doing very well now.”
And Georgia is a star on television and in the publicity arena.
She was on Larry King Live Monday night with Garcia and makes the rounds with him to spread the word about the dogs’ recovery from a life of abuse.
“She had experienced fighting her whole life,” Garcia says. “Now she’s going around meeting people all over with us in places like the Beverly Hills Hilton. We hope that sends a very powerful message. She’s gone from rags to riches. These dogs were the victims. All it has taken is patience.”
Before any Vicktory dog is adopted out they must pass a very difficult canine “good citizen” test and any potential family is thoroughly scrutinized to make sure it will be an appropriate fit. Best Friends have worked very hard to rehabilitate these dogs and want to do everything they can to ensure a successful adoption.

“We feel that in the very near future, Cherry may be ready for foster care,” says John Polis, spokesman for Best Friends.

GRRRRRR ON THE NFL.
ANY THING FOR A BUCK
I’m so glad there’s a place like Best Friends to take care of these dogs and all the other animals they take in. I love the show Dogtown and John Garcia is one of my favorites.
Bless them all for their great work.
I am so glad to see these dogs get a better life. I love the show dogtown, Best Friends is such a great place thank God for them. I just wish the people in the NFL would go back and see how these dogs were when they were first taken from Vick’s place and then decide if he should be allowed to play in the NFL.
Sending Best Friends any and all donations previously made to HSUS. HSUS lost me as a supporter when they gave “Sick” a platform. God bless Best Friends.
I’m so happy for Cherry and Garcia. They didn’t deserve the hand they were dealt in life. I’m glad they have found their way to Best Friends.
I love what the guys at Best Friends and Dog Town do and have done, especially for the Vicktory dogs. Been following Cherry and Georgia’s journey, as well as the other dogs. What a wonderful thing that they have come sooo far in spite of what they’ve been through.

“Vicktory To The Underdog” takes an in depth look at world renowned tattoo artist “Brandon Bond” and his dog rescue efforts – particularly rescuing the infamous Michael Vick fighting dogs.
Rather than focusing on the dog fighting problem, the movie sheds light on solutions leading to “Vicktory” for all the underdogs in the movie – tattoo people, pitbulls, parolees and all the other people in this world that society has turned their back on through ignorance and racism.
The movie also examines the life of Brandon Bond and his struggle with balancing fame, fortune and the Rock-N-Roll tattoo lifestyle with a more fulfilling life that focuses on the betterment of both animals and society as a whole.
Featuring celebrities like Debbie and Danny Trejo, Michael Berryman, Pixie Acia and Donal Logue, the movie takes you on an incredible journey you will never forget!
Proceeds for this film will be going to Villa Lobos Pitbull Rescue. http://www.vrcpitbull.com
I just love Georgia. That poor baby. What’s she’s been through and the love that she shows to her humans is absolutely amazing.
Actually I hope John Garcia keeps Georgia. I just feel that she’s keyed into him so much that having her go to another home may break her heart. I know she’ll get over it, but….. I just love that dog.
And Cherry, what a transformation. What a great dog. I cried my eyes out watching that episode of Best Friends on NGC. I am so, so thrilled to hear that those two are thriving.
What a great organization Best Friends is.
I have been a supporter of Best Friends for a long time, & I think no one does a better job of caring for the animals under their care. Keep up the Great Work !
