Hundreds Of Dogs Seized From Texas Puppy Mill
Horst Hoefinger

In Kaufman County Texas almost 600 dogs, along with some cats, were seized when the Humane Society and sheriff’s deputies raided a puppy mill.

The society said it started investigating the kennel, which is located near Prairieville just north of Mabank, when someone came to them asking for dog food donations. Representatives visited and found poor living conditions and malnourished dogs.

“If loving the animal is a criminal, then maybe I’m a criminal,” she said. “Because I work 6 o’clock in the morning until 11:30 at night taking care of these animals.

Representatives said most of the dogs were living in their own waste and many were under fed. Three dogs died after being rescued and several others have skin or foot conditions.

Deputies said kennel owner, 72-year-old Margaret Boyd, faces animal cruelty charges.

Boyd told FOX 4 she is fighting to get the animals back. A court hearing is scheduled for Friday and both she and the Humane Society plan to ask for custody of the animals.

that woman should not get her animals back

  2. Ang

The amount of animals a puppy mill can have should be very restricted and closely monitored… she is up there in age so it is challenging to care for so many animals…..

  3. Billi

Since when does a puppymill have anything to do with “love for animals”? That woman has to face the facts and be held responsible, no matter what her age.

This just sickens me. Turns my stomach. Animals deserve better. Just because humans are the top of the animal kingdom (or so they think) doesn’t mean they get to treat other animals however they want. It means humans are the ones tasked with caring for them and ensuring their well-being, not exploiting them.

I hope she never is allowed to have another animal .
Puppy mills are not for the love of animals but love of money . We all have the right to make a living but not at the expense of abusing another human or animal,
if she truely loved these animals she would of never had so many that she couldn’t take care care of them in
    every sense of the word.

I think puppy mills are the worst. The breeder I went to for my doxie had like the max at about 30 dogs. Not counting the puppies that roughly 6 were nursing. We had full access to the property and the dogs were not in tiny kennels. They were properly cared for with shelter, food and socialization. You knew these dogs were loved and it showed that you can have a business but don’t get greedy. Mills do nothing but make money. If people want to get puppies from a store, why not maybe encourage stores to work with private breeders in some sort of sit, where the breeder comes with the puppy to the store? Kinda like a “trunk show” for dogs lol. The store can still charge full freight since you pay double anyway. But you see the breeder that’s getting 500-700. Pet stores always carry the most common breeds which means there are usually decent breeders nearby

Absolutely heartbreaking. When are people going to stop exploiting these precious babies. Thousands are put to death everyday from over breeding. Here is a classic case of hoarding and greed. Pure sickening.

There are so many dogs being put to sleep (killed) because of human disregard. So many needing loving homes. A rescued pet will always be the best pet. They know you saved their life and wll love you unconditionally all their life. Breeders should have restrictions on them and any puppy from a breeder should be neutered before being released to a new home. More times than not people end up with a litter of puppies and who knows what kind of home they’ll get from there and often end up in a shelter and then…. :o (
There is a huge difference between a puppy mill and a responsible breeder. And these differences are ALWAYS obvious.

I absolutely hate puppy mills!!!! They can’t be called breeders they are tormentors!
