Motorcycle Mama

I want to thank Wilson for barking this cute story to me.
If you live in the Macon, GA. area be on the lookout for a red haired beauty riding on the back of a candy-apple red Roketa 250.
When Johnny Ray rides his scooter down Gray Highway, he’s used to people pointing and staring.
Gizmo, his Pomeranian/cocker spaniel-mixed pooch, rides in style in her own “K-9 unit” fastened to the bike.
“She loves it. She rides good,” Ray said.
She took an interest in the scooter as soon as he drove it home last year.
“When I got back from my maiden trip, she put her little paws on the running board like, ‘Daddy, I don’t know what this thing is but I want to go with you,’ ” said Ray, 64, who retired in 1996 from doing in-house printing for the Atlanta Braves for 15 years.
Ray at first thought he could hook her up with a harness and leashes, but he decided instead on a double-decker contraption. He hinged two black milk crates together and fastened them with bungee cords.
While she’s waiting outside the restaurants, people come up and stick their fingers through the holes to pet her soft, graying fur.
“Everybody just loves her,” he said.
Gizmo might let out a couple of coughs – a symptom of congestive heart failure that could have ended her life years ago.
But she keeps hanging on.
Ray says strangers in the restaurant will ask, “‘Who’s got that motorcycle with the dog on it?’ I tell them, ‘I can call my motorcycle woman a dog, but don’t you call her a dog.’”

That is painfully cute!
AWWWWWWWWWW OMD!
not safe for the doggy, please don’t encourage this kind of behavior!!!!!
Cute story, but not sure how safe she may be. But if she is like my three, anything to be close to mama or in Gizmo’s case daddy. He needs to come up with a pattern and a little safer and market it.
Pawsome – our German Shepherds just love jumping on the back of our dirt bikes and fooling around – they become good New Zealand farm dogs who ride on the back of farm bikes all the time in a matter of seconds. They’re not stupid and learn to ride on the back of the bikes pretty quickly – far better than any human pillion passenger.
Motorcycling doggies – yahoo ARROOOOOOOOO!
Great story and picture to go with it. Thanks much for sharing it with us. Now off to the website to see more pics.
Cool way to travel in style, Gizmo! You go girl–and at 15!
The pictures on the slide show are great. I would be concerned about her safety, too, but I’m sure that her dad has made sure she is secured.
as long as she is safe and likes it
Soooo cool!! I’m so glad she likes to ride on the scooter. She seems like she is safe also.
Her Dad adores her, he will make sure she is safe. At 15 she gets to do what she wants we think!!!
The photos are quite alarming to me and I see this far to often. The driver is not even wearing proper safety apparel. Short sleeve shirt, shorts and tennis shoes are never appropriate attire for any motorized cycle! If you have ever seen what happens to exposed flesh that is not covered with, at a minimum a layer of denim, leather with body armor is the best option, you would faint. Even at low speeds contact between pavement and unprotected body parts will cause extreme harm. I have seen feet, arms, etc abraded off. I have also personally been in a morotcycle accident, luckily I was wearing high leather boots, long pants, and a heavy leather jacket. A helmet too, of course. Please ride safely!
