Friday Is Take Your Dog To Work Day

Tomorrow is the 10th annual Take Your Dog to Work Day, dog owners are encouraged to bring their pups with them to the office. This isn’t really an official holiday so before you pack Fido’s lunch bag you may want to check with your boss.
The day “was created to celebrate the great companions dogs make and to encourage their adoption” by letting nonowners witness the bond between dog and man, says a Web site promoting the occasion.
“In today’s economy, pet adoption is the most eco-friendly and budget-conscious option for finding your next four-legged best friend,” said Patti Moran, president of Pet Sitters International, which came up with the event.
Thousands of small and midsize companies are expected to participate, said Moran, as well as some large ones, like Johnson & Johnson and Disney.
New Yorkers who’ve done it in past years say the day’s great fun – so much fun, in fact, that a few have even taken to doing it much more often.
Tina Park, 30, of Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn, works as a designer at the Chelsea offices of Johnson & Johnson and brings her Yorkie-Terrier mix, Gangang, 2, there every day.
“It’s very therapeutic to come over and pet him, and it’s good for the dog,” she said. “He’s the office stress-reliever.”
Since I work from home every day is take your dog to work day. Are there any Dogsters out there that are planning on taking their pups with them to the office? Or have done so in the past?
If you share your working dog story you’ll be entered to win 50 zealies. Don’t be shy, give me a bark.

I will most certainly be joining mom at the office tomorrow! I got to go with her once before when I was about 3 months old. I was just a little guy then and I slept in mom’s lap most of the day while she typed. I was so well behaved that mom’s boss said I am welcome back anytime!
I work my state government and things like this is not allowed. I have three large dogs, I do wish I could bring them, I could take turns bring them. I know it would relieve my stress level at work.
Our office is full of pet people and is very small (5). If we all brought our dogs on the same day we would have 11 dogs in the office and boy wouldn’t that be fun! We actually take turns bringing them in. A co-worker is bringing 2 of her 3 tomorrow and I will be bringing 1 of my 3 next thursday and we had one here yesterday. Of course if any pup is ill or injured they come to the office as long as necessary. Bella was here for months after her TPLO surgeries. When a pup is visiting the boss always calls it a “pawty day”.
I was fortunate at my last job as I got to take my dog to work every day. She was a great stress reliever ( I guess you would call her a Chesapeake Bay Reliever)
If everyone brought their dogs there would have been more dogs than people. The most we had on one day was 5.
I hope I’m lucky enough on my next job to be able to take her
I used to go to work with mama a lot when I was younger. I will be 15 in a few weeks so mama has decided that I can go to work with her tomorrow to see everyone. They have been asking about me for quite some time now. I think they will be surprised at how I’ve aged. They all remember me as young spry pup. I’m sure I’ll recognize them–especially those who used to feed me.

My Mommy used to take me to work everyday till she got laid off. I had my own crate, toys, dishes, pillows and chew bones at the office. I was living large. The clients loved to stop by Mommy’s office and give me some love. Now when Mommy leaves the house, she leaves me behind and I hate it! I pout and hid in the bathroom, refuse to eat my PB Kong and pout some more till Mommy comes back home.
I am at work with mom today! the boys had to stay home! BOL !! I’ll get my picture takin in the airplane in a few hours!

I are a very lucky dog in that I go to work with mom every day. It helps to live where you work BOL!
I used to have to be on a tie-out when we were open fur business, but last winter mom started taking me in the store with her because it was cold and I was still on a lead at all times.
Gradually mom started letting me off lead, I still stay close to mom mostly, and it has helped me so much with my social skills. I am not overly shy and nervous around new people like I used to be. I still am a little shy, but I am also friendly now at times with complete strangers, and at least relaxed with almost all the others.
Mom still keeps a lead in her pocket just in case. I had very bad kid issues because they scared me. And some still do who are “out of control”. But I have learned that I can walk by a kid now who isn’t bouncing off the walls without me freaking out, in fact I will stay quite relaxed.
Mom thinks my freedom while we are open has done wonders for me and my people skills. I would have to agree with her!
The BEST part, is the play breaks we have when there is a lull between customers! *grins*
My mom’s office celebrated Take Your Dog To Work Day on 10 June 2009 because they were getting ready to relocate and would not have been able to do it yesterday. Boy, was it fun! There were 6 dogs there, and we had a Yappy Hour Luncheon complete with a visit from some people who operate a rescue organization in the area. We also received new bandannas, new toys, and homemade pup treats, plus we had our group picture published in the local newspaper! I had a fabulous time and can’t wait to do it again soon!

It is always fun to bring our pet dogs to work for the reason that they lessen stress because of their playful nature. Also, they provide added security especially when you are having your overtime. With this, it is nice that our pet is beautiful and healthy. We can achieve these by providing them with high-quality and secured dog foods.
