What Sport Is Your Pup Good At?

Horst Hoefinger

Dogster had a fun poll last week to find out what professional canine sports your pooch would be best at playing. As always, there were five choices to choose from. Stuffed toy shredding trumped the other choices coming in at 47.99%. We had over 1,500 Dogsters join in the poll.

Frisbee catching (10.70%)

Cat chasing (19.52%)

Stuffed toy shredding (47.99%)

Lawn decorating (9.92%)

Other sport (tell us!) (11.87%)

Our boy Bo fell into the “Other sport” category. Bo’s best sport is begging, always has been and always will be. He has a master’s degree in begging, he could teach the pups out there a few things.

Let’s have some fun, we’re putting 50 zealies on the table. Share what your dog’s favorite sport is, any of the above or something unique. On Monday, June 1st I’ll choose one lucky winner and reward them with 50 zealies.

This week’s poll has to do with Michael Vick. He’s out of prison and is asking for forgiveness. Should Vick be given a second chance? Go to the Dogster poll page to find out your choices and vote.

* Butter wants to know what you’re looking at, cause if you didn’t see it happen you can’t prove who did it.

A second chance at what? Owning an animal? NEVER. Engaging in dog fighting? NEVER. Advocating for animal rights? EVERY SINGLE DAY OF HIS LIFE.

I believe the man has done a great deal for animal rights (albeit unintentionally), but he should never be allowed to profit from it, vis-a-vis a television show on Animal Planet, or otherwise.

I say forgive, but never forget, because he was not alone in his mistreatment of those magnificent animals.

  2. Angie (Rem, Ping & Bella's mom)

Bella’s favorite sport is to chase the neighbor’s lawn mower up and down the fence. She doesn’t chase us when we mow our lawn, just the neighbor. You should see the big boxer grin on her face when she thinks she has chased him away.

Rem’s favorite sport is to pin Bella to the floor and lick the back of her neck. They wrestle all over the floor and when they are done, Bella’s head and neck are all wet.

Ping’s favorite sport is lap sitting. She will get sprawled all across your lap and when you go to get up, she will hook a paw on your leg and press her shoulder against you until you lean back again. Then she groans at you.

My favorite sport is to watch and get as much enjoyment out of their company as possible. and of course I am the lap settee for Ping.

  3. emily

my dog mia was about 4 when we got her from the pound. The first time I showed her a soccer ball she freaked out. She is a full on soccer dog. I guess she had some good in her past.

  4. Jake's Mom

Jake’s is an accomplished paper shredder (soon to be turning pro). He will tear anything up (unwind toliet paper, steal tissues from the trash), but his all time favorite move is to wait until I am settled in a chair reading the newspaper and come crashing through the middle of the paper head first grinning like a doof and landing smack in my lap. Nothing quite like a 100lb lab who thinks he’s a lap dog.

  5. Jayijay

Zack is a mutt that I got from the shelter, not really intending him to be anything “special”. But when I got him home, he was so smart and athletic, it was amazing! So, he is currently in training for Agility, Flyball, Tracking, Obedience, Rally and perhaps Disc Dog!

  6. Afro Ken

Dudes, I’m totally into extreme sports. My fave sport is ‘Extreme Sledding.’ I made a video about it earlier this year
    :-)

  7. Blu's momma

Blu tries to hit a basketball with his front paws…..he also good at killing a frisbee.chewed the whole thing!!

  8. Reba

My newest sport is Squirrel Scattering Free-Style. Them pesky critters appear out of no where and they come in groups. I see one, I know there is more.

I sneak up as close as I can then RUN at them and squirrels scatter in every direction!

The object is to chase as many as you can before they disappear in the ground.

  9. DarlaMae

I am the One & Only (know to us that is);)Spitball Queen. Teenage middle schoolers have nothing on me,bol. I am a diehard paper lover, tissues, preferably used,Lotto tickets,Tp.. I will take the purloined paper and happily methodically roll small pieces in my mouth into spitballs that I leave on the bed or floor. Perfect and unique. :)

  10. Steph T.

Our 6-yr. old crazy boxer’s favorite “sport” is COPD (Compulsive Obsessive Popping Disorder). Balls of any size are popped within seconds. We can’t even get our toddler a new ball. You turn your back for a second & the ball is no more.

Our favorite episode was when Cody had one of those big, blue, blow-up exercise balls. He had that thing in the yard body slamming it, bouncing into trees & off the house. Cody finally got his snaggletooth into it. The biggest POP you can imagine! It sounded like someone got shot!

Cody was airborne 5 ft. when that one popped! His face was priceless! He still pranced around the yard with blue plastic shreds happy as can be! :)

  11. Indy's Mom

Indy’s favorite sport is Kleenex pulling. He will pull all the kleenex out of a box, 1 by 1. Until all are pulled out. Fun to do, not so much fun to clean up.
