How Low Can Reality TV Go?

How low? How about a new reality TV show starring none other than Michael Vick.
The incarcerated NFL star has talked to producers about launching an unscripted program. The proposed docu-series would follow Vick starting July 20, the day of his scheduled release from federal custody, and show him trying to “make amends for his past.”
Sources said eager producers even visited the suspended Atlanta Falcons quarterback in prison in the hope of signing him. As a result, there’s a few different parties claiming to have his rights, which is confusing the industry playing field.
Vick is serving a 23-month sentence for dogfighting conspiracy. His attorneys did not return a call for comment, though they told a judge this month at a bankruptcy hearing that Vick has agreed to a “television documentary deal” that will pay him $600,000.
That amount is only the tip of what Vick is asking for, however. He wants a high dollar figure for participation in the show, plus really needs the cash; he reportedly owes millions to creditors.
Another question is which network would be interested in a Vick reality show. Insiders place bets on A&E and Spike TV as likely first stops.
“It sure won’t be Animal Planet,” more than one source quipped.
What do you think about a reality show with Michael Vick? Give me a bark.

Wow is what I first thought. I do understand that he has done his time that he was given in jail and all that, but in my own personal opinion I would not be interested in his show or anything that he had to say at all for that matter. Then again, I didn’t like him to begin with before he went to jail anyway.
I find just the conception of this absolutely disgraceful. The vile man should not be given air time, or publicity of any kind!! To start with, his prison sentence was FAR too lenient; secondly, the fact that he will be making hundreds of thousands just because of who he is and what he did makes me sick to my stomach. The blood money he is going to receive should be divided up between as many animal welfare organisations and shelters as possible – he deserves NONE of it!!
if he truely is sorry and wants to make amends for the pain and suffering he caused he would just do it and not need to publicize his good works.
Disgusting, I for one will not be watching this ridiculous show.
I think this is disgusting and unacceptable. I hope people will voice that they don’t think this is right. Vick has not done enough time for his crimes IMO. VA backed down and charged him with nothing. We will see how the NFL handles this, but his agent feels he will be playing this year. I hope that his life will become even harder and be constantly reminded what he did.
Please on a much more hopeful thought please watch ESPN E60 tonight 7pm est on his VicKtory dogs and the Vick bad rap dogs who have gotten their 2nd chance or should I say 3rd chance and they are al thriving in their new environments and some of them are leading very productive and helpful jobs right now.we all need to celebrate that. Thiese trainers need our praise for what they have accomplished and that it one thing that I have been following. You can visit the Vicktory Dogs journels on how they are doing!
Please leave a note for Cherry!

You’ve got to be kidding me!!!!! The fact that anyone wants to see him is shocking. The fact that he thinks he worth ANYTHING, much less $600,000, is unbelieveable. Is he trying to see how many people he can get to despise him?!
i think the only way Vick should be allowed to do a reality is that all proceeds go to pit bull rescues, especially those who took on what was left of his dogs and made great companion dogs of them. I don’t think he should be allowed to keep one red cent of it. How do you make ammends for what he did. There is nothing huge enough to measure up to ammends for what he did. Nothing.
Sick. Just sick.
He doesn’t want to make ammends. If he just wanted to “make ammends” he could do that another way. What he sees is the dollar signs that will be coming in from the reality show.
All I can say is, I won’t be tuning in. And, I’m willing to bet I’m not the only one.
I won’t be watching this show!!!! I will also go to network site and let them know my feelings. I hope all my Dogster and Care2 pals will do the same. I also agree he shouldn’t get to keep any money he makes off of this show if it comes to fruition it should go to Pit Bull rescue (Best Friends in Utah should get most of the money they have done a wonderful job on the dog’s who’s lives he has destroyed)
This beautiful breed is being destroyed because of scum like Vick!! I wish him nothing but pain and misery!!!
it would be nice too see him get hurt on that show. maybe hit by a bus?or maybe mulled by a big dog, show him what them dogs went through.
i know that its a bit harsh but i dont agree in any way with what he has done/is doing!
people will do anthing for money, ‘lets say in sorry and i will earn $600,000 , yes very clever!
unfortunately pit bulls have been banned in my country (england) its a shame because they are beautiful animals and now dog fighters just use staffordshire bull terriers!so by banning a breed (through no fault of the dogs) they just move on to another dog, silly really as banning pits made no difference except depriving the UK from such a great animal.i would give anything to own one, i love them!
This is disgusting. Trying to “make amends?” Please, he can’t make amends for what he’s done. First off, he “apologized” to some people before he went to jail, but did he apologize to the dogs he inconsiderately mistreated and tortured? A little sorry was too much to ask? And now, I guess everyone has just forgotten what he’s done, and wants to make a stupid TV show just so they can make money. And apparently the only reason he’s signing on is for the money. Apparently nowadays, money replaces morals.
No show for him!!!!! TV networks – listen to us!!! No show for him!!!!! He can get a regular job like the rest of us to pay off his bills. A good job for him though would be to become a not-for-profit doggy pooper scooper!!!!
Mr. Vick, do you even think that what you were involved in was wrong? If you said “yes” I don’t know if I would believe you. You certainly do not have a heart!!
Beyond disgusting. It’s like a reward for him, and it positively REEKS of a PR attempt to rehabilitate his image. The greedy opportunistic network moguls who are courting him should be put in the same cell with him.
This is so disgusting on SO MANY levels. I just bet Vick is “sorry”, “sorry” because he got caught! Even more disgusting is the fact that people will do anything for money, this just further proves that. The only show that should feature him is an educational video on what kind of person not to be, and the horrors of dog fighting and abuse.
Hey, maybe the next gig will be commentator on the AKC dog show. It’s a logical advancement, right?
I rank this right up there with OJ and his book… No conscience at all, just the desire to cash in on their crimes. I think Best Friends should sue him in civil court to recoup their expenses for rescuing and rehabilitating his dogs if he does get a show. Take away that money, just as Fred Goldman took away OJ’s income from the book. I truly hope that is possible.
I hate “reality” shows anyway. There’s no true reality in them! You know Vick would never show his true colors while cameras were rolling. He is truly scum and just his name makes me nauseous.
Is this guy serious??? He must be friends with O.J. Simpson! All I can say is… We will boycott the sponsors.
We need to boycott the network……THE GUY IS A SCUMBAG!!!!!!!!!
