What wonderful stories. So much goes into rescue along with so many people. You are right..it can span across states and does so many times.
Thank you for doing this story! There are so many stories to be told. I would be glad to share a few. It takes education like this to sometimes make people aware of the need. If we could all pull together, I can only imagine what could be accomplished and how many lives could be saved! Thank you once again and thank you to all the rescuers for all you do!!!

Every single story like this touches my heart, in a really good way. I feel such deep pain when I hear of dogs needing rescued, being abused or neglected, or being put down due to no space, so it is always wonderful to hear good stories.

Getting involved with rescue, shelter work, fundraising, education, taking in strays in my home town, fostering & transporting has helped to ease the feelings of grief, but it is a never-ending cycle.
You get one dog into rescue, and there are countless others in a hopeless situation.

Thank you for sharing rescue stories - it raises awareness & encourages.

I have been in rescue for over ten yrs. Right now I have 23 furkids. Over the yrs we have had many many live with us. We gave up finding them homes because they end up coming back because they are so spoiled here. I have many many stories but will just tell one for now. Rennie came to us from a puppymill, she had been there for nine yrs. Everyone that met her thought she was so cute the way she would prance. She didnt really prance she walked that way from walking on wire for nine yrs. She was a really sweet girl and loved people but didnt know how to be a dog. One day I called everyone that knew her to tell them the good news. RENNIE got in the trash!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This you have to understand was a good thing, she was acting like a dog. It took her afew yrs to get to this point. We lost Rennie last yr. but she had a good life with us for nine yrs. She had nine bad yrs and nine loving yrs. She was a black min. poodle and she learned how to be a dog.

Great ,I am so glad to find people like you in the world, maybe there is hope for man kind to show goodness and compassion for all creatures. I have 4 dogs from the shelter that were on there way out,all the love I would have missed. Keep up the good job and maybe someday less neighbors will be dog hates and county rules and laws will benefit animals, not so much grouch neighbors.
THANKS

Nothing feels better than knowing you've helped a dog or cat find a home. I have worked with rescue groups in my area and have served as a foster home. about 6 yrs ago I turned my back on a stray dog outside my mothers home, days later he was shot and killed (I'm not sure by who). I told myself then, I'd never turn my back again! I let that dog down, it was as if I killed him myself. The ppl who run rescues (I just help as needed), they work hard to save dogs and cats. I see them at local petstores on their days off. They're always coming up with ways to raise money, and always have room for just "one more". This is not an easy job...the pay sucks, the works is endless, and for every one you save, you know 100 more die. but they know its worth it. the animals are worth it.

I love hearing rescue stories. If you really want to help animals in California, the Butte Humane Society (the little shelter with a big heart) is trying to win a national contest for a shelter-makeover - and you can help, simply by voting online.

With the final round of voting in the competition running through Sunday evening, BHS is the only shelter in California, and in fact, the only shelter in the west to make the final round.

Please take a moment to register online at buttehumane.org and post a photo of yourself with your pet! You can vote up to ten times per day for BHS.
