I once found a dog dumped on the side of the road by my house in 2000. Skinned and legs bound. It is a sight the police officers and myself hope we never see again and I still can not forget the imagine of what I saw or the reaction of what seemed to be sadness from Stormy B. Loved as she sat and whined by the body, refusing to move till I checked out what she found. I lived in fear for my dogs and never let them out of my sight from that day on. People should be aware that this happens not only to stolen pets, but when placing an ad for a free pet in the classifieds or in the local pet store, those “Free” pets can become victims too. These cruel people seek out free pets just for this purpose and also to sell the pets to labs.
Since 2000 I have moved to another location, but my dogs are never outside unsupervised. I pray that this madness will stop and I free complete heartbreak for the owners of those pets. I think I will go hugs my furries now.

this skinning dogs thing, I remember well, about thirty years ago they were skinning dogs too. my ex and I were looking at land in upstate NY, around a town called Croghan, not sure of the spelling anymore. We had our four footed boy, Leo with us, a German Shorthair. We opened to car door and let him out, (he NEVER went off on his own), and the realtor told us we’d better keep a good eye one him. Seems they were killing and skinning dogs back then too. I had never heard of it before, but the realtor said they really liked the “hunting” dogs.
We heard later in the same year that they were finding skinned dogs in the dumpsters not far from where we lived. That was Waterbury, CT. I guess it was like a sickness that spread.
Coyote hides bring a few bucks, I guess…but DOG??? Well, the Chinese were putting dog fur trim on things a few years back…celeb designer clothes. If you don’t believe it I’m sure you can find old stories on the web.
It is amazing what some people will do to “earn” a dishonest dollar. It is too bad that dogs are viewed as “property” and a dollar value is measured by the pedigree…I feel for those folks who not only lost a beloved friend, but have to know that friend was so brutally mutalated.

Frickinfarms, you left out the mares that are kept tied in tight stalls with catheters and kept pregnant so that their urine can be used to make Premarin, ie pregnant mare urine, a female hormone replacement treatment. When I learned about that, I stopped taking all hormones!!
It’s disgusting how humans treat all animals as disposable THINGS to use as we please. I could go on forever about our cruelties.
My heart bleeds for these poor dogs and their parents, who are going to go through hell when their baby is identified. I’m so angry; disgusted; hurt; confused; infuriated; every emotion just races through me and I want to cry.
We need tougher laws and much tougher penalties for these crimes against our fellow creatures. Anyone who could do this, could do anything!

That’s terrible news. We must keep in mind that the person or persons who did this are sick in the head. It is also a known fact that serial killers have killed animals in their life time as well so the person(s) we’re dealing with have some serious issues and should be found and prosecuted.

What kind of world are we living in were dog fur is in high demand?! What in the h*ll!!! I am so sick of what this world has become. Nothing but sadistic, violent, horrible behavior and may no pity be shown to the person or persons that comitted this crime or another other towards animals..

It is a sick world we live it. I hope they catch the person/s involved this horrific crime. I am so paranoid about my dog I don’t let her go outside unless someone is home. My friends all think I am crazy, but I am scared of someone stealing her and doing something like this or selling her to research, a true nightmare.

This is beyond horrible!!!!

something is very twisted in anyone who derives pleasure by inflicting pain, torture and death on another living creature.
My grandfather had a small farm and raised small animals for food. I have seen animals killed and butchered for food and while I never wanted to have any part in it myself, it was always done quickly and over before the animal had any chance to suffer. VERY unlike slaughterhouses and factory farms, my grandfathers animals were all free range.
Anyway…look on the web, people torture animals in many ways everyday, it is commonplace, like chickens with their upper beaks removed, hogs (sows) in pens they can’t even turn around in bred to produce more pork, giving birth and not even being allowed contact with their offspring. They (the sows) are just there to suckle the piglets that they can’t even reach with their snouts. Veal calves tied on 4-5 foot ropes to little “dog house” type of shelters. They never get a free moment in all their short lives. Throw crabs and lobsters into boiling water ALIVE…”sport fishing” not for food, mind you, for “sport”.
Cock fighting and dog fighting are big money makers for some as are puppy mills.
Stop and think about how many ways $$$$$ is involved in treating animals badly. Big business tells you it is the only way to feed people…the MEGA FARMS, the FACTORY FARMS, only these factories produce much misery along with food.
SO…is it really so surprising that our youth, observing what a small value we put on the life around us (and yes HUMAN life too) is becoming increasingly violent, cruel and inhumane?
Do yourselves a favor…if at all possible, buy your milk (cow or goat) eggs and in season produce from local farmers. Take a stand to make the world a better place. Pay a little more so the farmer can earn enough to KEEP his small farm, and find out what food is SUPPOSED to taste like, and you will be taking a stand against many evils prevelant in the world now. You just MIGHT miss getting food poisoning too.
