I think this is a wonderful idea, especially for a senior citizen. But I also think $10.00 a day/$300.00
per month plus food and medical is way to much.

If a person says they have to give up their pet because they can't afford to take care of it, then I would rather see the money go to the owner and help them to keep the dog or cat.

Personally, I can't see how a it could cost that much to keep a dog for a month unless their are medical issues involved.
So yes, I believe a lot of people will do it just for the money.

this is a GREAT idea for seniors that don't want to take on a permanent pet, because they worry about illness and not being able to keep a pet at some point. Seniors have plenty of time, love and patience to share with a foster pet. The added bonus of not having to provide food and vet care from their own fixed income would certainly be a big bonus. At 60+ I know that at this point I do NOT want to take on any new pets as I would worry about them outliving me (puppies are a no-no).
As my own girls meet their fate, I think I would enjoy being a foster mommy to those who need it.

Keep in mind this part of the article..."THIS IS NOT A “MAKE AN EASY BUCK” scenario. You must have a genuine affection for and experience with animals, submit to a home check and provide references and proof that you are allowed to keep a pet in your home."

It seems like they have a good grip on the situation, which is why I posted. Because unfortunately, like the two comments above mentioned, some people may just want the money.

I think it is good idea, but I also think there may be a gew that might slip through, that may just do it fo the money. Kinda like foster homes for children. I am an animal lover, and if I had the room, I'd definately would consider it. My dream is to have my own rescue someday. I went over 2 years homeless, but my pets were cared for by some wonderful people.

Good idea, but I hope people dont decide to do it just for the money and then not provide for the animals... hopefully everyone who takes advantage of this has their heart in the right place and takes proper care of the fosters :)
