Oh My Lola Lo-Lo-Lo-Lo Lola

Horst Hoefinger

A Chihuahua puppy named, you guessed it, Lola, was stolen out of a car parked at a Target store. A teenager and her boyfriend had gone shopping and when they came out of the store 18-year-old Brianna Bartolone found her new puppy missing.

The thieves had smashed a window and dognapped Lola.

Police said a 20-year-old man and his girlfriend were arrested Tuesday when surveillance cameras at a Target store in Gardena (CA) caught them in the middle of a spending spree with credit cards stolen in a nearby car break-in.

Luckily Lola was recovered at one of the suspect’s parents’ house, where it was believed he gave the pup to his sister as a gift. Well, how very generous of him.

Glad little Lola is back where she belongs.

* Collette is available for adoption, she’s adorable and located in the Marina Del Ray area.

    Well you know what…
you shouldnt leave dogs in cars anyways…
i love taking my dog out to petco/petsmart but we make that a seperate trip, we NEVER leave my dog in the car alone!

But i am glad she got her pup back,
maybe she’ll learn to leave Lola at home next time.

  2. Posh Pet Glamour Boutique

Never leave a dog in the car unattended. Their is a high amount of dog theft within the U.S. Most of the dog kidnappings people dont even get to hear about. We are happy to hear that they got their pup back. Most stores nowadays will allow you to bring a small dog in the store with you as long as you have them in a secure purse style dog carrier. I take our chihuahua (our store mascot BitBit) everywhere.

  3. Olga Diaz

No dog should be left alone in a car, one never knows what can happen.

  4. Christine

Well after that I won’t be leaving my dogs in the car anymore, although anyone with enough guts to try and steal 2 large dogs that are barking and biting are out of their mind.

  5. ShellyC

When are people going to learn you cannot leave your babies in the car~this is happening more and more, I NEVER leave my toy poodles in the car unless their bug brother TANK a 170# Rottweiler is there ti babysit…NEVER!

  6. wildcoyote

Dogs should NEVER EVER be left in a car even if they are big and barking. Besides the obvious heat related tragedies, a car could be smashed into by another vehicle or some jerk could flick a lit cigarette into the car – - too many crazy people out there and a dog in a car is much too vulnerable.

  7. Animal Lover

They don’t deserve the dog back as they should NEVER leave a dog alone in a car. I call the police all the time on people who do this. If you really look at cars in parking lots you will be amazed at how many dogs are left alone…..so next time you park your car scan all the other cars and see what I mean…..then call the police at that moment!! These two should not own a dog….stupid people don’t deserve a pet.

  8. ShellyC

FOR WILD Coyote~if I am driving on a LONG trip with my dogs and have to take a pee do I take them in with me!

  9. ShellyC

My dogs usually stay home BUT if I go on a trip they GO WITH ME ALWAYS, I bought an RV for them a 36 ft RV is that okay with you miss know it ALL?

  10. The Cali Crew

With two chihuahuas and one Lhasa/Yorkie, I’d never dream of leaving any of them in the car unattended! If you have to shop and can’t take your fur kids with you, then leave them at home. With that said, I am very happy to hear that their puppy was returned unharmed! Thank dog.

And, to the person that posted above who said most stores allow small dogs – wrong!! In our area, any stores that sell food prohibits customers bringing in their pets. Target sells food, which could be the reason these two left their chi pup in the car. I do hope they learn from this, and never leave their sweet chi unattended again. =)

It’s easy to make blanket statements that are critical of the behavior of others. Saying someone doesn’t deserve a dog because of an error in judgment seems kind of mean-spirited. I’m always glad to hear when a stolen dog is returned to its family. I’m sure there was a big lesson learned by this young couple. I bet that little dog never is left unattended again!
