Oprah Adopts Shelter Pup

Last spring Oprah had a show on the horrors of puppy mills and pet overpopulation. She vowed that when it was time to get another dog she would go to a shelter.
About a year ago Oprah lost her beloved gal Sophie, a 13-year-old Cocker Spaniel. After waiting 11 months she decided it was time to bring home a new family member.
She made good on the promise over the weekend visited the PAWS Chicago facility on Clybourn Avenue and took home a female cocker spaniel puppy.
Winfrey, who had previously sponsored a dog room at the state-of-the-art no-kill shelter, stopped by Saturday to look at available dogs. She was drawn to the litter of cocker spaniels.
Winfrey returned Sunday with Steadman Graham, and they adopted the goldenish cocker.
It’s nice to know Oprah keeps her promises, hopefully this will inspire others to visit and adopt from their local shelter.

Good for the puppy and good for Oprah who walked the talk both in puppy mill education/awareness and adoption from a shelter. Goodness all around!
Oh, how spoiled the pup will be! Mom and I are glad she adopted from a shelter. There are so many shelter dogs that need great homes, and they are just waiting for someone to love them and take them home.
I always knew she was a classy lady! Good for Oprah, and good for the lucky pup
woof woof Oprah rocks!
Good for her! Was sad to hear when Sophie & Gracie both died, and am glad she put her money where her mouth is. That’s one lucky pup and a woman we should all try to emulate!
Thats great news! I always love seeing Oprah with her dogs….and I have been a cocker spaniel fancier for over 35 years! I was so saddened when Sophie left for the Bridge, and enjoyed the show that Oprah broadcast in her memory.
What a lucky pup to get such a loving home! Congratulations all, from me and my fur-kids!
OMG that is wonderful! Kudos for Oprah!!!
WAY TA GO OPRAH!!!!!! Now we just have to get her here on Dogster!!!!!!
