100 Pounds Of Fur Shaved From Dogs

No, this wasn’t some kind of bizarre contest. The dogs that were shaved came from a puppy mill in Greene County, MO raided last week.
So far, three of ninety-three dogs have been put down because of circulation problems that were caused due to the conditions in which they were kept.
The severe matting, which caused the circulation problems, was so bad some of the dogs could not bend their legs. A few of the dogs have had to have limbs amputated in order to save them. Other dogs with less serious conditions will still need weeks of rehabilitation.
The dogs were taken to St. Louis after the raid, where they are receiving medical treatment. Interest in adopting the dogs has been overwhelming, even affecting the society’s phone system due to the volume of calls.
Anyone who is interested in adopting one of the dogs is asked to go to the society’s Web site at www.hsmo.org. The local Humane Society is not involved in the case and has none of the dogs.
The Humane Society is pushing for prosecution of the owners of these dogs.

The owners of these dogs should be prosecuted for such inhumane treatment of these dogs. I am still in tears, thinking about the horrible conditions that these dogs had to endure. Fortunately, most of them have survived. Unfortunately, they will keep the internal scars of their past. I applaud the rescuers for what they have done.
When will we ever get serious about animal abuse!?!
Soon enough, Michael Vick will be back to making his millions. Soon enough these people will pay some trivial fine and be back in the breeding business. Soon enough I will be reading about another Puppy Mill busted…
Shall we give it a week?
this has been in the local news here in St Louis quite a bit. The videos are heart-jerking, to say the least. The puppy mill owners hopefully will do jail time for the inhumane things they have done.
Missouri is a puppy mill state. We have been involved in transporting miller’s discards that our rescue and others have been successful in purchasing from the infamous Missouri “dog auctions”. Follow the money… it’s big business in Missouri and the politicians don’t want to cut off the cash flow.
Prosecute the sponsor also…..
This truely makes me sick, these people have no soul no heart, I have 3 dogs that came from a puppy mill, one is healthy and happy, one is a very sick little girl with many health issues. from kidney, bladder, pancreis, thyroid, seizures, and the vet say’s she will be diabetic when she get’s older, she is 7 now. she cost’s me about 195 a month just to keep on top of these problems. The third little girl was left in a barn type building with many other dogs to fend for herself, she was about 5 months old when I got her, she had kennel cough and pnemonia was really sick. she is 6 now but the scars remain, she is very shy and scared around people except my family, I have 7 other dogs that have been here a long time and she is fearful of them to . The vet said she never developed proper. she is in a loving home now, but the scares remain. the so called breeder ( almost heaven in PA) has been put out of service for now pending his court case. I wish with all my heart that I could do to him what he has done to these poor innocent creatures. You just look in their eyes and how could any one be so darn cruel. every day my heart breaks for these animals, this needs to stop and I think it;s high time the goverment should step in and do something.
