Wiimote Knocks Out Puppy

This story definitely goes into the strange category, luckily it turned out alright.
A puppy was knocked unconscious when his owner, Kathy White, and her daughter were trying out their new Wii Sports Bowling. Ozzy, a miniature Sheltie, was accidentally hit with the Wiimote when he jumped up on his owner.
We had just got the Wii for Christmas, so we were trying it out,’ White of Marquette in Michigan told 9news.com, ‘and that’s when Alexis and I were bowling and Ozzy was standing by me and he jumped up and I hit him in the temple and killed him instantly.
Thanks to a quick thinking neighbor who gave Ozzy mouth-to-mouth he was revived and rushed to the vet.
He was treated for cardiac arrest and severe brain swelling. It’s taken him several weeks to recover, but according to White, he’s almost back to normal now.
Ozzy will no longer be in the room when the family is playing on their Wii. That sounds like a very good idea.

Wow! I have never read a blog about this before. It sounds strange that a dog got knocked out just because of a Wiimote. I am glad that you all did get the dog back revived again. I bet the owner was so glad and felt proud of themselves for saving this puppy. Luckily this has never happened to my dog! Well I think it is a bright idea to that the puppy will not be in the room when you all are playing the Wii.
I have come so close to hitting Copper with my Wii remote that I now put him in another room when I play.
i dont understand these Wii remotes- mama and daddy wave them around a lot and i dont get it but have learned to stay out of the way!!!!Woof
Oh my dog! That had to be a scary thing for that family to see! I have heard of the things flying out of the player’s hands and going right into the tv sets before, but never this! So glad that Ozzy is recovering so well and way to go neighbor for the quick thinking and saving him!
This is one of the problems I have with the Wii. I’ve never used it, but I can see the attraction of the movement based controls, but people need to keep their heads with these.
I heard about one kid here local that broke his wrist with one of these when he pulled back and jambed his hand into the wall behind him. I don’t know what he may have been playing, but it sounds like this bowling game here could definately generate enough movement for something like that. I’ve also heard other stories about dogs and cats getting hit or stepped on by players on a Wii, but never one this serious.
They look quite fun, but people definately need to think about their surroundings and environment when using a Wiimote. There is such a thing as getting too “into the game.”
This exact thing happened to me and my dogs! We were playing bowling as well, thankfully the incident wasn’t this extreme.
