$9,000 Reward For Georgia Puppy Killer
Horst Hoefinger

In Gwinnett, GA a puppy was found dead behind a Party City store.  The details are just to horrendous to go into detail on this blog, but I thought this story was important to share because there is a puppy killer still on the loose.

If someone can do what they did to this puppy I have a hard time believing that’s where it will stop. The person(s)  responsible need to be stopped and we need your help to catch them.

The  Southern Cross German Shepard Dog Rescue , Primate Freedom Project, and the Atlanta Humane Society have pulled together to come up with a reward now totaling $9,000.

“I’m absolutely positive that someone knows who did this. I’m hoping the reward money will bring that person forward with tips so that the person can be caught, apprehended, and convicted,” said Molly Moncure of Southern Cross GSD Rescue.

On January 24, 2009 Southern Cross GSD Rescue will be holding a candlelight vigil in a local park in honor of the puppy.  If you are interested in finding out more information or attending please stop by their website.

If convicted, the person(s) responsible for the crime will get at least a year in jail and/or a fine of up to $15,000. To me, the lack of severity in the punishment is as horrendous as the crime.

If you have any information on who is responsible for the crime, you are asked to call Gwinnett County authorities at (770)339.3200.

* The very cute dog above is adoptable at the Atlanta Humane Society.

I just clicked on the news link, and I am sick to my stomach. I truly have no idea how anyone could do such a thing.

Last night you have Mickey Rourke thanking his dogs for his Golden Globe win, and then you have some creature walking the streets doing horrific acts of violence on the innocent.

    I just don’t get it, I honestly don’t…

I hope the National News picks up the story and flushes out the vile creature that did this!

  2. JJ

I haven’t looked at the link…yet. I would give a reward of millions of dollars if I could as a reward for something like that!

I’m sooo glad I don’t live in Georgia, but bad stuff happens in Texas too, just watch the animal cops show for Houston.

In my neighborhood, nearly everybody has multiple dogs that live outdoors and not contained in any way, shape or form.
Most dogs don’t even have shelter at all, they just live under the houses or wherever they want to go.

There is even a couple of “breeders” that I suspect are puppy mills as one has at least 20 dogs all outside and “specializes” in more than 3 different breeds.

Our neighbors said that one of their dogs got run over in their own driveway, they think someone did it on purpose too.

If anyone has any media contacts, please let them know about this. The more publicity there is the better change they have at flushing this creature out. Also, if you know people in the area, please ask them to attend the candlelight vigil. We need to get as many people there as possible. Full details will be posted soon on Southern Cross web page. The more people, the better the media coverage. Thank you to all and thank you to Lisa and Horst!! What a wonderful blog we have here at Dogster!!

sounds like another serial killer in the making.
sure hope they find the creep.
if it is a kid, I’m sure that reward will be very tempting to any of his peers who know about it.
don’t hold out much hope for punishment, as I recall those kids that tortured a pup and put it in an oven, Georgia i think, a couple of years ago…walked.

  5. Wanda and Hannah

That is so true frinkfarms, but that was Fulton county. I do believe Gwinnett will be a bit tougher. The judge there is a animal rescuer! We are hoping and do believe this will help get the person or persons the max sentence! The news is now saying the max is 5 years. My max sentence would be the same fate this pup got!!!!!

  6. DOGS ROCK

Serial Killer in the making sounds about rigt! Does anyone here watch Dexter.. he started with stray animals too!

    an eye for an eye!

  7. Abby

I don’t know what to say. I can’t begin to comprehend this. I’ll never understand the lengths some humans will go to in order to show their ability to be cruel.

It brings even closer to the surface my rage when thoughtless people say “it’s only a dog”, or “dogs don’t have feelings”. I know someone who rolls her eyes everytime I say I have to take Abby to the doctor for annual healthcare!

    I just don’t understand.

  8. Ryann

I just read more about this story and it makes me sick, I wish I could find this jerk and do the same thing to him that he did to that dog, thats what he deserves. Dogs are living creatures with feelings, many don’t get that. There are no bad dogs, just bad people. This guy is one of the worst and I hope Karma comes back at him tenfold.

  9. Jamie

Horrible. I’d like to see more severe punishment for things like this. Besides the fact that it’s just horrible for the dog (and I LOVE dogs), it’s been proven that people who have this little disregard for life and do things like this to animals often end up doing the same sorts of things to people as well. Nearly all the “famous” serial killers began by torturing and mutilating squirrels and cats and such.

  10. Sasha Belle

I live less than 15 minutes from where this happened. If this person is caught I can tell you that the Gwinnett County Sheriff Butch Conway will do whatever he can to make sure this “person” gets what is coming to them. He has been a huge advocate for dogs in this county for a long time.

I am just sickened to know that I live and breath the same air as this “person”

  11. Hearth

I wouldn’t dare look at the details. I’m a little bit afraid of too much publicity on this. Afraid of giving ideas to other sickos.
Whoever did this needs to be committed to an insane asylum for life. It’s only a question of time before he graduates to torturing humans.

  12. JMD

I pray please let the depraved perpetrator/s be found & fully charged in this heinous crime.

  13. Wally

The punishment for cruelty to animals is never enough!! Most politicans believe “it’s only an animal” and dismiss the crime. Murder is murder whether it be of a four-legged creature or two-legged.

  14. Bailey and Sophie's mom

I won’t read the details. I am still haunted by the last puppy-torture case (with the oven) that I read. I wish the laws would change and dogs were looked at as more than property. They are living, breathing beings and deserve to be treated as such.
    Five years isn’t punishment enough!

  15. DARLA

I just saw this article and it made me sick to my stomach. Since the reward is that high, someone will definitley give up the one that did this horrible thing. It’s hard to think that there are such monsters living in this world right next door to us. I pray that the one’s who are responsible are caught and dealt with in a very strong manner. Five years? For every wound infflicted they need a year or more. Animals deserve justice too.

  16. Valerie

I don’t underdtand how anyone can be cruel. I mean it was just a little puppy! I just don’t get people these days. I’ve heard some terrible stories in the past few days and am beginning to wonder if there’s enough good out there to counteract the bad. I just don’t get it!

  17. Jess

All i wanted to say is that I hope for the best and keep praying that this puppy killer will be cuaght and brought to justice and believe that your puppy is still with you, still inside your home being happy and running free, and believe that you will never let this great puppy out of your hearts. This would be my very thoughtful advice straight from my heart to you.

  18. Dakota

Just as there is a heaven for a sweet puppy like this (I am balling as I write this), there is a hell especially for whoever did this. I think it might be worse not to know the details because now my mind is going a mile a minute worried about what this poor innocent creature endured. I swear, if I ever have a terminal disease, I would take care of anyone who hurts animals. God bless the poor puppy and I know he is safe, warm, and out of pain now. With the help of good people, evil can be overcome. Whenever you see a small act of violence on an animal, make sure you do not stay silent. There had to be warning signs. I hope whatever mother gave birth to the monster who did this takes the life back that she gave it. I know I would! God bless everyone who is standing up for this poor soul.

  19. Blu's momma

THEY HAVE TO FIND HIM NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!THIS IS HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!THAT POOR PUPPY!!!!!!!!

  20. snoopy

this is horrible but i’m not surprised people are so cruel & evil i do hope the person or people are caught. this kind human can not have all his brain cells to do this to a living breathing animal. may he feel the same pain that he did to the innocent defenseless german sherpard
