Win Dean Koontz’s Dog Trixie’s Book…Autographed Copy!
Horst Hoefinger

That’s right, Trixie Koontz has written her very own book. She wrote “Christmas is Good: Trixie Treats & Holiday Wisdom“,  sharing her secrets to have the merriest of seasons.  Rediscover the magic and joy of Christmas through Trixie’s eyes.

“Sometimes seems people forget wonder of Christmas. Dog like me could help people see wonder again.”

The book is a collection of tips, secrets, and wisdom from Trixie. As you can see from the following quote she’s a very smart dog.

“Do not tie cat to tree as decoration. Is funny but not worth losing your nose.”

It’s charming, funny, and makes a great gift book for the holidays. The most wonderful thing about the book is that all proceeds go to Canine Companions for Independence.

Help is a four-legged word.

Founded in 1975, Canine Companions for Independence (CCI) is a non-profit organization that enhances the lives of people with disabilities by providing highly trained assistance dogs and ongoing support to ensure quality partnerships.

Headquartered in Santa Rosa, CA, CCI is the largest non-profit provider of assistance dogs, and is recognized worldwide for the excellence of its dogs, and the quality and longevity of the matches it makes between dogs and people. The result is a life full of increased independence and loving companionship.

I’ve always been a fan of Dean Koontz, he’s a great writer. Now I know he’s also a very generous person, taking  the time out of his very busy schedule to help Trixie write a book to benefit such a terrific organization.

Everyone should go out and purchase a copy of “Christmas is Good” for themselves or someone they know, it’s a great stocking stuffer. You can get this adorable book for a special online price of $15, plus it’s autographed!

Three lucky Dogsters will win a Dean Koontz autographed copy of the book.  Leave a comment in the comment section about why your dog makes you merry.  The contest will run today through Monday, December 22nd when I will pick the winners at random.

Dean Koontz also has a new book out, Your Heart Belongs To Me,  you can go to his site and find out all about it.

What are you waiting for?  Nothing to see here, move along, go order your copy of Christmas is Good.

  1. Minster Jr

My Minster is the light of my life…He makes me laugh and is always there when I need someone to talk to..Yes I talk to Minster. He gives me kisses when I am off to work and is waiting in the window for me when I come home and he is so excited to see me its makes me laugh..

  2. Angelina and Angel

My dogs make me happy for different reasons. Angelina is always asking for attention, she loves to cuddle and get petted, so I can always count on her for a hug! I love how excited she gets when I come home from work every day- I drive up, and there she is, looking out the window at me!
Angel, on the other hand, is not a very affectionate dog. This makes it even more special when he asks for a belly rub, or comes up to me, jumps in my lap and licks my face. He’s done that a couple of times when I’ve been crying, and I swear he was doing it to cheer me up. Of course, it did!

  3. Jordan

Ty makes the holiday season bright AND merry! She knows how to unwrap gifts…specifically gift bags. It is so amazing to watch her root around until she finds her gift among the tissue paper. I am in school so Ty lives with my dad and the other 4 dogs. It is so great to be home with her over my break and be able to look into her eyes and see that she misses me and is glad I’m home. Ty makes my season merry and I am very grateful for her constant and unconditional love.

  4. Rudy and Mia

Rudy and Mia make every day merry and bright! They do silly things to make me laugh daily, but also know when I need them to just come and cuddle with me on the couch. I have a stressful job, and knowing they are at home anxiously waiting for me to come home keeps me going many days. I cannot imagine my life without them – and appreciate the love they share with me all year long. Christmas time is fun because my nieces come to visit and we make homemade biscuits for all the dogs in our families – Rudy and Mia alway volunteer to be the official testers!!!!

  5. Max aka Gator Lips the Swamp Dawg

Max, “Pound Puppy” has given my husband and myself more joy and Love that the words just dont come. But with every beat of our hearts, if you lestin really close you hear Max tump tump
Max tump tump Max tump tump. Max is not our dawg Max is our SON!

  6. DawgFace

Hannah and Hogan make me happy becasue they make my wife happy. If Nancy is happy, the world is good. on the other hand….

  7. Bobbe and Sara

Sara makes me happy because of many things… she is sweet, smart, loving, social… she shares the bed with me and I’ve taught her to “spoon” in order to get a bit more bed space (she is convinced that her “half” is the one in the middle, and the 1/8ths around the edges are my “half’). Still, what really makes me happy and smiley is when I wake up in the middle of the night and I hear her soft breathing (or sometimes loud snoring) and I know that everything is all right.

  8. Cindy Maniglia

Chloe makes me merry because she knows how to make me laugh and smile. All she has to do is her Bichon Blitz – which is when she goes into a tizzy and runs in circles outside or inside, it doesn’t matter where. She runs so fast – her ears fly back in the breeze she creates as she blitzes by like a freight train…leaving me in stitches. I clap my hands and cheer her on, “Go, go, go! Run around, run around!” She just did it tonight after her last walk.

  9. Tania

Abby & Shadow make me happy in a number of ways. They always seem to know when I need a good laugh and do something dorky to make me laugh. They also know when I’m sick or sad and do their best to cuddle and give me the extra love that I need. But mostly they make me happy by just being there and letting me share my life with them.

  10. Lafayette Little Rascals

All my dogs make me merry simply by being themselves and they love me unconditionally. Sheba is a special dog who is a rescue. She’s been with us for almost thirteen years and she will stand in the middle of the floor, tail wagging and bark at me until I come over to pet her. I can be feeling lousy, but with her around I’ll quickly get out of that feeling when she does that. Spike is quite a ham himself and will make little aroo-aroo sounds that only Schnauzers can. He makes me laugh when he talks back at me. Bella and Scooter are a joy to have around as they’re still very young and play like puppies. It’s fun to watch them tumble all over the floor then stand on their hind legs fussing with each other like fighting grizzly bears. Each of my dogs bring joy and laughter to our home. We all know that laughter is good for the soul and petting animals is a wonderful stress reliever. Bless our doggies because a house without a dog is not a home. Ramona

  11. Wanda and Hannah

Hannah was rescued a year ago this coming Feb. Hannah was never able to just be a happy dog. She only knew sorrow and pain most of her life.Hannah did not even bark for her first 4 months after rescue. She did not have any idea what to or how to play. Just seeing her grow into a happy confident dog makes me happier than anything else in this world. I can remember the first time I watched her run through the house with a toy in her mouth. It truly brought tears to my eyes. Her happiness is my blessing.
Seeing all of my pups warm and happy is a gift given. I only wish all pups in the world could live the same.

  12. Dahlia

Dahlia makes me merry by doing her happy dance when I come thru the door each day, or even when I lift my head off the pillow and open one eye at her! Any small progress made by her makes me feel like I’ve won the lottery! She’s my daily inspiration to get up, get going, and take time to stop & smell the roses. (altho not at the same level she does…..)

  13. Karen

i have to win this book .my name is Trixiemae
this book is like my bible….i just think i must have it.after all trixie is going to tell me trixiemae all her secrets bol

  15. Cooper's Mom

Cooper came into my life after losing my beloved Diesel Blue to osteosarcoma. I was lost and heartbroken when he passed and couldn’t even imagine letting another Dane in. A good friend of mine from rescue called me about a boy. He was pretty sick and needed a quiet place to rest. I hesitated, and really didn’t want to take him. My friend pleaded, that Cooper might not make it if I didn’t take him. He was in a kennel and wasn’t doing well. He stayed with me for a month, almost bloated, had his stomach tacked and in that month’s time I was gone. He was everything I didn’t want, but everything I needed. He helped heal my heart and my head and everytime I get home from work that goofy boy is waiting with a smile and tailwagging! It truly doesn’t get any better.

  16. Cobain

Cobain makes me merry each and every time I see him, or think of him.
He came to me at a very difficult time in my life, and since the moment I saw him I knew there was something special about him. I can without a doubt say that I owe my life to him, he gave me a new meaning to life.
He’s always there for me whenever I need him, to laugh, to cry.
His goofy facial expressions never fail to put a smile on my face.
The connection we share is evident even to people who do not know us at all. Just by looking at us, they know. The attention he pays to me especially on the agility course is amazing.
He’s better than the best motivational speech.
He’s better than the best antidepressant anyone could make.
    He’s better than most humans.
    He’s my world.
At the end of a long day I know I can come home to him and he’ll be as happy as ever to see me.
He makes me feel appreciated and loved, as I appreciate and love him.
Unconditional love, it’s an amazing thing.

  17. Kathryn

My dogs make me merry because they think I am as good as I wish I were.

  18. ashley

My boston terrier Lola and my cat Dukes make me merry each and every day.
I love how Dukes will cuddle with us at night. He likes to lay right at the back of my knees when i sleep.
Lola makes me smile when she gets excited and waggles her bottom back and forth in the opposite direction as her head.

Just thinking about them and all the funny things they do makes me merry and puts a smile on my face.

  19. Jake

Jake is the love of my life. There are no words to describe what this dog has brought to my life not just at this time of year but all year long. I would be lost without him. The way he looks at me with his beautiful brown eyes ….it’s like he can see into my soul and knows my heartbreaks and fears. And the way he lays his head in my lap or rests it against me lets me know that he is there and will try and make it okay for me. When he is running at the lake, the smile on his face is contagious. He is everything that I want to be. Merry Christmas my beautiful best friend forever!

  20. Darlene

Laurel was sent to me the week after my long haired dachshund,Savannah crossed the bridge. She is the complete opposite of Savannah. Laurel is non -stop on- the-go, always in trouble or looking for it. Savannah was laid back, easy going, and well behaved.
I wouldnt trade Laurel for the world.

  21. Sharon

Everything about my dogs makes me merry! They’re entertaining, loving, give the best pittie kisses, have the grandest pittie smiles and are the best snugglers. With so much positive energy emanating from them how could I not be merry all the time? They make me laugh and my heart soars with love when I’m around them. :-)

  22. Chloe

Since getting chloe over a year ago, mylife has be turned upside down. I love her soooooo much. I can’t imagine my life without her. She is such a joy! When I’m sad she always stays right by my side. I feel so much like a different peoson sice I have gotten her. I use to be a very very high strung person and since I have had her, I’m much more calm. The doctor toldme if I didnt stop being so high strung, I was looking at havng a heart attack! I’m only 24!!!! So really she saved my life. I’d be lost without her and she’d be ost without me! That is why my chloe, makes me sooooo very Merry!

  23. Susan Hauck

Josie is my best friend,& an extremely close second ,her daughter Ivy Rose .I am losing Josie as each day passes she has cancer ,is very overweight due to hypoglycemia, she no longer can get upstairs to my room which has always been a place she needed to be to “protect me” Don’t know what I will do without her .Ivy is my car riding dog she goes where I go both dogs are extremely sensitive to my moods, and seem to sense things more than any person I have ever known . I have had and have other sheps but these 2 are especially dear to my heart .I also rescue dogs from the pound and these 2 girls are always accepting of any new dog I bring home .I couldn’t expect a human to be THAT understanding! It just wouldn’t happen..

  24. Bebopp

Uno and Mickey, my 2 schnauzers, live in my home but more importantly they live in my heart. They have filled my empty nest with unconditional love and companionship. They have brought laughter and joy into my life and given me hope!
I know the three of us would love to read Trixie’s book.

    Bebopp

  25. Misty Blue

Misty is a natural clown whether she is chasing next door’s cat (not getting too close of course) or chasing her tail (and falling over when she catches it). She brightens my day when all else seeems to get on top of me.
When things do get too much I take her out for a walk n the countryside where all my troubles seem so small and insignificant.
She is so gentle and caring with my autistic boy and so rawdy with my 8 year old girl (she loves a little rough and tumble!)
It’s the little things she does that makes her so special.

  26. Sandy

I have three very different dogs and couldn’t be happier. Their antics and distinct personalities make me smile every day. My rescue dog Tinkerbell always looks like she is smiling. My Pekingese Tucker gets a crazy look in his eyes and runs around entertaining himself, like the rest of the world doesn’t exist. My miniature daschund Oscar is my shadow. He is always snuggling up to me and would be very content tucked under my shirt. They are three of the happiest dogs and bring joy to my life every day.

  27. Jack's mom

Jack is very literally the light of my life. Before he came to live with me, life was very dull and I wondered many times — Why? Now I know…

He is the happiest dog (goldens are as you all know) and likes to spread that joy around. He can make you smile just by “reminding” you that his tennis ball is there or laugh by running out his zoomies in the backyard in the snow. Life is so much fuller by having him around. He also makes other people merry when we go out on walks, or to parades, or simply riding around in the car with his paws and nose resting on the window sill. His excitement for life makes me merry…

  28. Laney's Mom

My dog makes me merry every time I think of her. She brings an incredible joy to my life that I never thought possible. She lives for each moment, and is happiest just being with me, whether it be going on a walk or just lounging at home. She is always well-behaved and constantly surprises me with her intelligence and loyalty. Laney is my whole world, and I am hers. We have an amazing relationship that I wouldn’t trade for anything.

  29. Stormy B. Loved 2000-2008

Stormy B. Loved made every day merry. Stormy started every morning with stretches & tail wags. Not just little tail wags, but the kind of tail wags that could leave a bruise on your leg. Life would be so much better if all of us humans started our morning the same way. Breakfast was a merry event…time for the happy spin dance. Everybody should dance and eat a good breakfast in the morning, it starts your day off right
Stormy ended every night the same way she started it, happy spins & tail wags. (And a crazy nesting ritual that made me laugh every night)
Stormy B. Loved has recently gone to the Rainbow Bridge, making this Christmas a difficult & sad time for our family. I will always remember all the lessons Stormy has taught me. Stormy may no longer be in my life, but the memories & lessons she has taught me will be with me for a lifetime.

  30. jane

My dogs make me merry because no matter what, they are always overjoyed and excited to see me when I come in the door. If I’ve had a crappy day at work, there is always two happy tails wagging when I get home. They can lift my spirits immediately.

  31. Igor

My little Janie Jones makes me happy because she is just a goofball. She will wake me up in the morning by poking me in the back when the alarm doesn’t get me up. When she needs to go out she will make sure I see her and look at the floor, then back at me, then at the door and repeats it until I get the hint she needs to go out. Whenever I have a bad day at work I know I can come home to seeing a happy face staring at me from the front window with a whirlwind tail behind when I walk through the door, that makes anything that happened just not seem like that big a deal.

  32. Glenda

My babies, Lexie, Wade and Thomas are such an important part of my life. Wade especially reminds me that you can overcome adversity to have a wonderful happy life. He was found in a ditch in a bad way almost 5 years ago. When he was found he had a profound injury to his foot and as a result he had to have his left rear leg removed. It rarely slows him down. He doesn’t walk he runs everywhere, with a smile on his face and tail wagging. He finds joy in the smallest of action and reminds me that life if too short to dwell on the negative.

  33. Marleys Mom

Marley Makes me so happy because she is always there by my side with companionship and unconditional love. She seems to know when I need a lil extra Love and snuggles after I have had a hard day or am not feeling well.
She lets me sleep in her queen sized bed to for this I feel Privlaged.
    She is a wonderful Pug.
    Ronda

  34. Sammy and Jeb's mom

My boys make me smile all the time. They are there for me when I need a kiss or a snuggle. They know when to be silly and when to be serious. I love the goofy things they do and their unabashed love of life. Their unconditional love is worth more then all the presents in the world. My boys are my merry, merry Christmas :)

  35. Charley's Mom

Charley makes me and his Dad merry because he’s full of kisses & surprises. We never know what ‘present’ our BBD will bring us next. We’re so lucky to have found him; or maybe he found us!

  36. Cody, Toby & Madison

We make our Mom merry just by being our silly selves. There’s always a little soap opera going on in our house. Toby is being a bully and taking the toys from Madison and Cody, Madison and Cody wrestling or playing tug with their toys. Yesterday Cody took a tennis ball right out of Madison’s mouth. We make Mom laugh and feel loved and what could be merrier than that at any time of year.

  37. Keri Rosen

I don’t have a dog at present because I can’t afford to care for one properly, but I do have a very good dog friend. Her name is Arwen and she’s an apricot miniature poodle. She has a mind of her own and is very expressive as to what she wants and what she doesn’t. I dogsit for her whenever her family goes away, and she considers me one of the pack. I don’t think I’m the alpha, though.

I love it when she’s lying on the sofa next to me and I give her a ball to play with. She takes it with her feet and flings it off the couch and grins. If she’s mad at me, she turns her back and huffs. The best thing is when she sleep with me. She lays with her spine against mine and it is the best feeling in the world.

  38. CRYSTAL

what makes me merry is watching my 180# english mastiff frolicking in the snow like a puppy! he has a huge smile on his huge face, he runs from one end of the yard to the other at full speed-swerving around the other dogs, and jumps in the air trying to catch the snowflakes. its infectious.

  39. Bailey and Sophie's mom

Working all day and battling traffic on the way home can make one feel very grumpy, but once I walk through the door at home and get my dogs’ version of a ticker-tape parade, I forget all about the other stuff. They make me feel like I am the most important person in the world. I feel the same way about them!

  40. Stephanie

I have a chihuahua his name is Gansito. He makes me merry because he was the smallest in his litter but that didn’t stop him from being the lovableness he is today. If you feel sad or are crying he will jump on top of you and start licking you or rub himself against you. He loves people and dogs all types he doesn’t care. He will love you even if you don’t like him. And that why he make my life merry…

  41. Deanna

My dog, Princess, brings me so much joy!!! I always have to laugh, the way she throws her toys around, or cuddles, or just takes off running around the house! I can’t help but laugh. When I’m sitting in my recliner, she always jumps up and curls up tight against me between my knees, but not before climbing on me and rubbing her head against me to cuddle. It’s just so darn cute! She is so easy to train and teach new tricks and she just makes my life 110% better! I can’t imagine my life without her!!

  42. Diana Morrison

Rosebud, Petals and Thorn all make life worth living for our family! I have severe medical problems that, when coupled with my husband’s physical disability can really get us down at times. Earlier this year, we adopted a special needs teenage son out of the foster care system, and all three dogs have done wonders in helping him heal from the great scars of his past. When any of the three of us are sick, or depressed, or scared, our puppers are there to show us we are loved and make us know that everything will work out okay!

  43. Sharie

I have 5 dogs, 4 labs, Bahlei, Toby, Roxy and Harley and 1 springer named Bakardi. I don’t know what I would ever do without them. Some times they drive me absolutely crazy, but when I’m sad or lonely, they are always there to lick the tears from my eyes. My favorite saying goes “Every dog should have a home and every home should have a dog.” I have this saying on my signature page at work. Anyone who doesn’t have a dog is a very lonely person.

  44. Kramer and Ridge's Mom

My Husband and I recently lost one of our Dogs…Her name was Sandy….and although losing a dog is one of the hardest things I’ve gone through…My husband and I would never be without one…they are an immense comfort in the worst of times and a real joy at the best…

  45. CL Andrews

My favorite view in the morning is to look down as Sara scoots out from under the bed where she sleeps. First, I see the bed skirt wiggle, then a nose appears and her big brown eyes, fluffy ears and then inch by inch, more and more dog all the way to her plume tail. Then she dips for a good stretch before swinging around to lick my face good morning!

  46. Sue...How do ya do!

Do my dogs make me merry! You bet they do! HOW you ask…this is how. When I’m merry they prance and wiggle and drive me nuts to play ball and romp with them. When I’m blue they cuddle up and give me licks and wiggles to cheer my heart and comfort me till my blue mood turns merry again.

They are my family! They are there summer, fall, winter and spring. There when my heart is singing songs of merriness and when its pouting with sadness too!

No they don’t always do what I want them to do and no they aren’t the best train pups in the world …no awards or certificates but ya know they don’t care what breed I am …or how many honorable mentions I may have…they love me for being me..and that makes me a a cheery merry gal it does!

  47. Molly & Max

They are the loves of my life , they sence my feelings & when i’m upset , blue or stressed they know & they are always there with a little paw on my arm or a lick to say calm down everything is all right …. i am never sad long when that happens… they do not judge me or hold grudges if i’m not perfect & they love me no matter what !!!!

How can you not be merry when every time you come home after a long day at work & you get lots of tail wags & the dance of joy as soon as you walk in the door !!!!

they are my best friends !!!!

  48. Jimmy Price

I’m a 50 year old woman, I have had a dog in my life ever since my very first one at the age of 4. Her name was Tiny. Over the years I have NEVER been without a dog(s) in my life. And if God choose I will NEVER be without one. Life is the Merriest when I have all of them in bed with me and I have to sleep on the edge. We are a family and I wouldn’t change a thing.

  49. Nugget, Daisy Mae and Duke

All of my dogs make us Merry but this year we are focused on Daisy Mae.
After we lost our dachshund Amos during neck surgery we knew the risks of getting another dachshund. We got Nugget and then a year later his first cousin Daisy Mae. She was the light of our lives with her spunk even with so many health problems starting at puppy hood.
When she did the “drunk” walk I was just beside myself. But like a strong mommy I stepped up for the fight and this time we won! Daisy had her surgery to repair two ruptured disks at the SAME surgery center where Amos died. I knew in my heart that this time it had to work, and we are here to tell you today that it did!!
Now, almost a year later she is as strong, happy and healthy as ever.
How could that not make us Merry?
    ;0)

  50. Jessie

My dogs make me merry for numerous reasons and in numerous ways. I could never live without dogs in my life, they make everything better. Sometimes my dogs may make me angry or do something bad but they cancell that out with adding entertainment, joy, happiness and so much more to my life. They’re there when I get up, when I come home, when I’m happy and when I’m sad. I get the joy of teaching them and in return they also teach me. When I’m sad, depressed, angry or just not in a good mood, they help me forget everything for atleast a little while and keep my attention focussed on them. They help me live for tomorrow and keep on going, I don’t know what I’d do without them.

    They’re my best friends.

  51. carole

All of my furkids make me merry but my Annie can crack me up. We went to the Christmas parade this year and I dressed her like a reindeer. She was so gosh darn cute nobody could resist her. All the kids had to pet her and love on her, Of course she had to lick back, I told her she had to stop licking so much because she was going to chap there cheeks. It was a womping 26 degree out. I bought her outfit last year after christmas and it cost me a whole 94 cents, best money I ever spent. Think of all those smiling faces for 94 cents,

  52. kathryn van Rooyen

We were “found” by a jack russell/min-pin mix on May 2nd. She just showed up on our porch bench and never left. She is the absolute JOY of our lives! She is funny, and makes us merry in our “old age” (we’re in our 50’s). She is very smart, and plays games with us all the time. We love her to bits and despite not ever wanting a small dog (we had a beagle who we love already), we fell in love — hard. She makes us laugh every day, and for that, in these hard times, we are grateful. We love both our dogs – Isabella, the small dog, and Spencer, our beagle, and they bring us love and companionship. I am disabled, and they keep me company while my husband is teaching high school. Oh dang, now I’m all choked up!

  53. Birdy

As I walked my beautiful Birdy girl through the college campus today(it’s a great place for walkies), I realized that she makes everyone happy. I always have a smile on my face when we go for our walks, because she is having such a good time you can’t help but have fun too.

Cars slow down and the driver smiles, kids on bikes smile and wave, a woman stopped us today and she said, “What a jolly little dog”. I said,”YOU BETCHA!”

Birdy makes me so very merry everyday. When I come home and she smiles at me, wags her powerful tail so hard her whole back end goes crazy!

She woo woo wooo’s with joy when you talk to her. Cuddles up close every chance she can.

Shes such a friend and companion, so dear and sweet.

  54. Patricia

I have three babies who make me the merriest woman in the world! Secret, Hope and Junior! Just knowing that they’ll be at the door when I come home from work to greet me with tails in the air waggin from side to side, makes it all worth while. No matter how hard the day has been, those sloppy wet puppy kisses wash it all away! Without the love of my husband and my babies, I’d definately be lost in this crazy world!
I’m going to hug them all now!!
    :==: Merry Christmas and Happy “Howl”idays!! :==:

  55. Mandy

Mandy is not just a dog, she is my best furiend! With her in my life its not only Merry Christmas, but Merry Everyday. Its nice to know that when I arrive home from work, she is at the front door waiting for me, and at night Mandy is at my side to keep me safe. Mandy makes me smile each and every day!

  56. Maddy's mom

Maddy makes me merry by just being her! She’s so independent, yet sweet and loving at the same time. Always on a mission that nobody but she understands, and a constant source of entertainment in the house!

  57. Anita

My dogs have been such a blessing to my life. They are there for me always and give me unconditional love. I have never felt like I wasn’t good enough for them or that I had to be anything other than myself. In fact sometimes, I believe they’ve helped me find more of myself than I ever would have otherwise. I am bi-polar and there have been many times, when not on my meds, that if it had not been for my dogs…I honestly can’t say that I would be here today. I love the way Bronson makes me hold him when I cry…won’t leave me alone till he’s in my arms…and the way that Pepper does everything that she can to please me. They are truly one of the best parts of my life!

  58. Cyndi Stone

My Stormy is such a blessing to me. She always is by my side. She is a black and white Shih Tzu. They are natural clowns. If your down they try to make you laugh. She is always tuned into my needs. She is my service dog. She is also a Certified Therapy Dog. She will dance her heart out to make the patients and me smile. She is a little dog with a big heart full of love and cheer for whom ever she meets.

  59. Jamie

All my dogs make me happy but I would have to say Huebert makes our home very merry.
Huebert is our 3 legger (shhh don’t tell him), he makes me smile, his daddy smile, and I swear sometimes I see his sisters and brothers smile.
When you get home Huebert is always there to greet you with a shoe in his mouth, and he won’t drop it until you take it from him. That’s his gift. He gets these crazy 3 legger zoomies around the yard and it’s a joy to see him run so fast. Then all of a sudden he just starts spinning in circles super fast. We call those his ninja kicks. That will put a smile on your face.
Huebert is our little movie star. He had a part in an independent film this past year and that just makes me so proud. He did wonderful.
Huebert has always been the clown of the family and he will always bring a smile to my face and help me keep my sanity. We love him very much and loves everyone big and small (not the birds or llamas though).

  60. Tammy & Reeses

Reeses is the love of life my life. He came into our family at a time of new beginnings. I, his humom, had just bought my first house and had just started a relationship with a new fella (his daddy) and his daddy had just lost his long time friend, a dalmation. We decided together to get Reeses. Daddy needed to fill a void while I just wanted to let my kids finally have a pet. Well to my suprise, Reeses became more than a “pet”. He has taught me the unconditional love that you can have for something. He reminds me in little ways everyday what is actually important in life. He is there when I am sad, when I am happy and everything in between. He is a constant in my life. After 18 years at the same job, he has inspired me to check into going back to school to do something I would never though of doing….being a vet tech. I think being merry is knowing the true love of an animal…..how lucky we are!!!!

  61. Deb & Kodi

Krazy Kodi makes me merry in many many ways !!! But the one that makes me the happiest is when he gives me a hug in the morning. Instead of having to drag off to work tired and depressed, I can leave with a smile because sweet Kodi gave me a good morning hug with a big happy labbie smile just for ME !!!!!!!!!!!! :-)

  62. Jerri

My two dogs, Sophie Claire and Harley Davidson are my best pals. They both love to cuddle and sleep under the covers with me. Harley makes the funniest faces which always put a smile on my face. Sophie on the other hand is my mother hubbard girl. Recently, when I was sick I could not have asked for better nurses. They never mess with all of the trees or decorations (they worried that Santa Paws might be watching. I really think that all of us are a match that was made in heaven! Sometimes you just know that all is right with the world when I see those 2 babies giving me so much love.

  63. Barbara Duke

Everyday in my life my 3 makes life merry. I or I should say we were homeless for over 2 years. But God put fosters there to care for them when I could not, or I would have had to give themup. But they are what makes life worth living for me. I’m single and no close family left except a sister that we just cannot be together, because of her hanging on to the past and holding a lot of bitterness and anger towards our parents. They were good parents and done what they could to keep us girls in the best areas to live and schools to not be educated. There were hard times, but we were loved. So my dogs are all of the family I have. They greet me every morning as the clock alarms. Tails wagging and kisses. And when I come home from work each day, they are there to welcome me home with the same wagging tails and kisses and loving on me. And I brought some gifts home for them from a friend, labeled dog child #1, dog child #2 and dog child #3. As I took the gifts out to put them up until Christmas Eve, they all had their noses to the packages. They saw wher I put them and my bully girl, Lady has been back and forth to the closet since. She’ll look up at me and when I tell her she has to wait until Christmas, she’ll go on about her business. My life would be very empty if I did not have them. We have been back in our own place now since the end of July this year. But even though they spent so much time in foster care, they never forgot me and was alway so glad to see me when I’d visit. My Tipper, a shepard mix where he stayed, they gave his happiness to see me each time I a name, “Tipper Fit”. He would jump and jump and flop down and just roll. And my Oreo, border collier mix, would just be all over me with kiisses and more kisses. He could not get close enough to me on those visits. I know it hard all those months on them, but they never forgot that I was Mama. They are my merry merry fur babies.

  64. Tena and shayne

Shayne make me merry by keeping me company….by putting her head on my keyboard while i’m trying to finish my 30 page paper (telling me, i’m ready for a break), by bringing me all of her toys when i’m sad, by being an amazing ambassador for rescue dogs, by being a great heater when the heat in my apt isn’t working–brrr!

What makes me the merriest is watching a dog who was once terrified of people walk down the street and seek out affection… and watching her work a large crowd of children…. that makes me such a happy and proud mom!!

  65. Kinsey

Kinsey makes me merry every day! Kinsey was a rescue and in very bad condition when she was found. She is a Pekingese, which I’ve had many. When I found out about her, I went on my lunch hour to meet her. She was so pathetic but very happy to see me. She sat on my lap the whole time I was there. When I finally found out I was getting her I was so grateful. Then came the “issues” that had to be worked on. I found out that you can definitely teach “old” dogs new tricks! She is so smart. She waits for me to come home from work and after she has eaten and gone for her walk she comes to me to be picked up and gives me lots of hugs (hug-hug). She is such a great dog, it is so hard to imagine what she must have gone through before I got her. And she turned out to be the most beautiful Peke I’ve ever had! I will NEVER “buy” another dog. It will only be rescues in need for me!

  66. Carla (Jasper and Jasmine)

Jasper and Jasmine make me merry everyday. They are like a little comedy routine. They are constantly antagonizing each other, taking each other’s toys and tousling. They are too hillarious and oh so smart. One day Jasper was sitting on the bed and I ran toward him and acted like I was going to jump on him. He put his little paw in front of his face as to say “oh no”. I fell in the floor laughing. Jasmine is my little affectionate girl. She is constantly wanting to have her belly rubbed and give kisses and hugs. She like to be held and cuddled and that makes me very merry to know that she and Jasper depend on me and that I come through for them.

  67. Cindi

I am an only child and my dogs are like me having little brothers and they are also my best friends. No matter what, they are always there for me. Someone to talk to, someone to hug, someone to make me feel better. Whenever I am around them they bring me such joy! Inbetween going to college and work I get really stressed out. But as soon as I see their tails wag and their happy expression all my stress just melts away. They make me so, so happy!

    =)

  68. MooMoo

MooMoo makes us merry with almost everything she does, but especially when she chases her tail or she gives us her “Elvis” lip! She is our furbaby and we’re so thankful to have her in our lives. We love you, MooMoo! =)

  69. Sparky (Hurricane Ike Pup)

Christmas is not all about presents. It’s about family. And Sparky is definitely a part of my family. This would be his first Christmas, but spending time with him is the bets present I could get. Love, is what it’s about too. Definitely have love for Sparky, he is a sweet, darling, puppy. I can’t stand one minute without him, and when I leave for the day, I have tears, and give him a everlasting kiss on his head.

My love for Sparky will last forever.

  70. Jamie

Peaches makes me laugh. She lights my darkest days, with her funny tricks. One example is when she was walking in the snow she did not like that snow was sticking to her paws. So she would occansionally lift her paws and walk. Well once she must forgotten that she had her front left paw up when she lifted her rear left paw up too and then she fell over in the snow. She looked up at me and seemed to say take me out of this cold stuff and warm me up.

  71. JJ

My dog is definetly the light of my life! He is a shelter dog. I went to the shelter one day, not really looking to adopt yet, just looking around. Then I saw his sweet little puppy face and decided to take him home. I had a few issues bringing him home, as you can read about on his page. He was found, lost on a highway, and he has a morbid fear of cars now. He helped me so much, as I got him after losing 3 dogs in less than 5 months. He has also helped me get into training and competing, he’s in training for Bikejoring, SAR/Tracking, Agility, Flyball, and Rally-O. He has also helped me feel more confident in public, when I have him with me, we can take on the world! Whenever I’m depressed he cheers me up by patheticly squeaking his toy, or just nestling up on the couch with me. He always makes sure I have plenty of time to play with him. He keeps me in shape by “taking” me on long walks each day, twice a day. He is my best friend forever and the best dog in the world.
