Wow, what an amazing story. That wondeful dog truly is strong and deserves his name. He honestly deserves a loving forever home. Go Gideon!
I hope he lives a long, healthy, happy life!

Wow, that also sounds much like my Dalton's story. His amazing temperament was what saved his life, as stray male Akitas are rarely given second chances. But Dalton's sweetness and the kisses he gave the vet staff, convinced them to finagle an extra week until Akita Rescue could come to his rescue. He was also thought to be about 1.5 years old. That was back in 1990/91 and he was a loving part of the family until he crossed the Rainbow Bridge in 2000.

I've no doubt that Gideon will go on to live a full and happy life with some loving family.

Wow that sounds like my boy Wade (although Wade's injuries weren't nearly that bad). He was found in a ditch with his left back foot rotted so badly that his bones were exposed. He had ants eating his foot, heartworms, intestinal parasites and was about 15 lbs underweight but when the angels rescued him he wagged his tail. They couldn't believe it. Dogs know when they're being rescued, I firmly believe it.
