Home Invaders Steal High Priced Puppies

A Reno, Nevada couple who was selling English Bulldog puppies out of their home were the victims of a home invasion on Wednesday.
Ross Harwood said he had been asleep on his couch around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday when he heard someone breaking down his front door in the 10000 block of Robilee Drive, in South Reno. He awoke to see two men reaching into a nearby dog pen, snatching two of three puppies.
The thieves had used either a sledgehammer or device that unhinged the door. Harwood ran after them, and Wendy, the mother of the pups, followed. The suspects’ dark red small sports utility vehicle struck Harwood during their flee, knocking him down. Then they ran over Wendy, who had been at the rear of the vehicle. She soon died.
The couple had been advertising the puppies for sale in the Reno-Gazette Journal for the last few weeks. On Tuesday a couple had stopped by to look at the $1,800 puppies, but did not buy one. Arlene and Ross Harwood suspect this is the couple who broke into their house.
What a sad story, these thieves need to be caught.

How unfortunate, RIP Wendy. Our thoughts & prayers go out to Ross at this difficult time. We hope the pups are back safe and sound and the robbers do their time.
This breaks my heart. Separating those young pups from their mother, taking the life of a beloved family pet, causing so much pain. I hope those puppies are returned soon.
RIP Wendy.
God, I’m so very sorry for your loss. This is why I believe in alarm systems. I use mine because of this very reason. I don’t breed dogs but I believe in safety for my pets and myself. I’m so very sorry this happened to you. R.I.P. Wendy and my prayers go out to this family for safe return of the puppies. There are some sick individuals out there and I hope no harm comes to the pups. I hope they are returned. I wish I could be there to cry with you over this injustice. My prayers to you.
This story sickens me and breaks my heart. I hope that the thieves are caught and my heart goes out to Ross for the loss of Wendy and her 2 pups.
This story is so upsetting on so many levels. First of all, what kind of people would break down a persons door in the middle of the night, and steal their puppies? Secondly, (not that Ross or Wendy were even remotely deserving of what happened to them), why is someone making a business of breeding puppies for such an exorbitant price ($1,800?! for a puppy? When there are thousands of puppies and dogs in shelters without homes!) When so many people are without jobs, or homes, or food, it just seems sick to me that anyone would be selling puppies for such a ridiculous amount of money. And third, I just feel so bad for the family’s loss of their dear pet Wendy.
I am so sorry that someone did this to you. My prayers are with you. I hope that they are brought to justice and you get your puppies back. RIP Wendy.
So sad. Is the world getting worse or is it me being paronoid?
Hope they find the thieves.
our condolances to wendy’s family.
our hearts go out to you.
What a sad story, really breaking my heart. I hope the pups are back safe, and I do hope the thieves are caught soon.
This is so heartbreaking. I will keep this family in my thoughts and prayers. People are so cruel.
How awful! There are such creul people in this world! I feel so bad for those pups, their mom and their owners! And considering that my name is Wendy Harwood, it pulls at my heart even more!
I am devastated to hear of this, how unfortunate. They deserve to be prosecuted. I hope the pups are still managing ok
im so sorry to hear this.. i hope there ok
that is so horrible. people do the most horrible things sometimes. i really hope that they are caught, and that the pups are alright. how sad.
how horrible. i feel so sorry for the two pups who were stolen and the one who is left behind with no mother and no siblings. at least poor wendy won’t have to suffer the loss of two of her pups but what a horrible story. it makes me sick to think about how people treat animals sometimes.
Someone breaking into the house and STEALING the puppies? Hitting the owner? And killing the puppies mother? This is way past abuse, to me.
Rest in Peace, Wendy.
Best of luck to the puppies….
Wishes that the thieves are arrested SOON.
And let the heartbreak mend swiftly to the owners.
The inhumanity of this world never ceases to amaze me. I just don’t understand. I’m so very sorry about all of this. And Wendy…protecting her pups…what a tragedy.
My heart goes out to this family. The sad thing is, this isn’t the first time I have heard of breaking into houses, cars, campers to steal dogs, show or family pets. These evil people have no regard for life. They would have killed that man with the sledge hammer if he got in the way. I don’t understand the world. I hope the family or friends find these people before the police do. Justice needs to be done.
I am sooooooooo sorry for your loss. What kind of people would steal puppies!!! R.I.P Wendy. My heart goes out to your family.
This is so sad and appalling! I hope those thieves will be caught and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
Our hearts go out to this family. Rest in peace, mama Wendy. You gave your all fur the love of your babies. Our prayers / pawrayers fur the missing babies to be found safe. Our pawrayers/prayers fur the remaining pup to find a good home. And finally, hugs and pawrayers/prayers to the hooman furmily of Wendy. We care.
SOOO Sad
I am so sorry for your loss. I hope they catch these horrible people.
What is this crazy world coming to? How low will people stoop? Is our economy in such bad shape that it has come to this.? We are so sorry for your loss of not only Wendy but her babies as well. Wishing you much luck in catching and giving these terrible people the punishment they deserve.
I’m in Reno and belong to the Bulldog Club here. I can tell you this family is devastated over the loss of Wendy, she was a birthday present to Mr. Harwood. We have managed to raise $2000 for the return of these puppies and since their photo’s are plastered all over town we hope these people do the right thing and turn over the dogs. The sad part is people who would stoop to this level won’t do the right thing, it’s not in their nature. Bulldog puppies sell for up to $2500 in this area but without papers these two are worth much less. The important things is that they are being cared for properly. They were eating solid food and almost weaned, which is good news. Please people, be careful who you invite into your homes.
I am so sorry for the family’s loss. I try to not wish bad things to happen to people, so in this case I am saying a prayer that these puppynappers will simply itch and not stop or obtain any relief from this itch for a long long time.
I hope those stupid people go to jail. Poor mommy and puppies, they didn’t deserve that.
Were so sorry for the family’s loss. Our heart and thoughts
go out to this family.. Take care and your puppies happy Holiday to All of you there. we will pray to all of you…Rest in peace Wendy Gods love you. We hope the police catch them.
MONEY IS THE ROOT OF ALL EVIL. The robbers more than likely were those visitors who saw dollar signs. This is the MAIN REASON THAT BREEDING ANIMALS IS NOT A CASH MACHINE. Animals get hurt and people suffer also…. my prayers are with Wendy a brave mom trying to rescue her babbies……….
