Bill & Star From Greatest American Dog Interview

For all you Bill and Star fans, you’ve probably been wondering what’s been going on with them since their departure from GAD.
Good news…I’m going to be doing an interview with them and catch you up on everything.
Since Dogsters loved being able to ask Laurie & Andrew, from GAD, questions when I did their interview I’m going to give you the same opportunity again.
Submit your questions today through Tuesday, November 25th and I’ll pick some to be answered in the interview.
Start thinking about what you want to ask, this one’s for you. Bark away!

So when is the interview taking place?
We love Bill & Star !!!!
We also missed the last episode…Who was the last pair standing ?
Travis & Pressley were the winners
What channel is this show on? I’d like to check it out but I’ve never heard of it before reading this post. Thanks!

Question:
How has your wife been doing?
Have you gained any fame after leaving the show? Do people recognize you?
Hi Bill and Star:
Do you keep in touch with JD? What have done since you left the show? Please give Star a kiss!!! Cynthia And Tipper Sitko, Kent, OH
- Who was the most fun to bunk with on the show?
- Did you go back home to your same routine or has it changed since being on the show?
-What are your and Star’s holiday plans?
Happy Holidays,
- Steph T. & MR. CODY BOXER
Being that Star IS a dog, albeit a good dog she has to be naughty sometimes. What has Star done that was naughty? And does she have any lovable little quirky habits that make you laugh?
Just a comment that we felt that Bill and Star were the greatest team on the show. Despite the other great pups and owners in the competition, you are the winners in our opinion.
I think you did a wonderful job on the show and the night you got voted out, I stopped watching.
The judges on the show seemed to be rather inconsistent with their expectations, at least to us viewers. On one show, you were criticized for pushing Star to keep competing in the challenge and the very next show, you were voted out after stopping when you knew Star had had enough. Did you or the other contestants feel that the judges were inconsistent?
What made you decide to try out for the competition and would you have done it if you’d known beforehand that you’d have to be away from home without contact for so long?
How did Star like being away from home and how did she react once you finally got back?
Hi Bill & Star my name is Susan from Modesto, California & I just want to appluad you & Star for having a great dog-owner relationship. I don’t know either of you from a hole in the wall, but just seeing you guys on GAD, makes me proud to be a dog owner. The judges on GAD don’t understand that you don’t force a dog to do what it doesn’t want to do, & I think that you did right when Star didn’t want to go down that rope & you didn’t force her. My questions are: 1. Has Star learned any new tricks since being on GAD? 2. What have you learned from you & Star’s apperance on GAD, & have you applied to life after the show?
I guess that is all the questions I have for right know & again I just want to say that it was a pleasure to watch you & Star on GAD, & that I think you guys should have won.
Did you think some of the challenges were dangerous?
My mommy says she wouldn’t have let me anywhere near that elephant..what did you think, Bill; were you worried for Star?
what was it like meeting so many dogs?
Hi Bill,
In the previews before GAD it showed Star going down the zip line but in the challenge it was made to look like she refused to go down. Can you explain what really happened with that challenge?
Thanks, you and Star did a good job on the show!
Hi Bill and Star: My Mom and I loved watching you on Greatest American Dog. I wanted to know what you love best about the holidays. My favorite is getting turkey scraps and playing in the torn wrapping paper.
Hope to hear from you soon.
Other than being away from your home, what was the hardest part of being on the show?
I don’t have a question…just a comment. Bill, you and Star are true companions. It was so heartwarming to see your relationship. It’s what owning a dog is all about…or should be! I wish you many more happy years with your “old red dog”. Best wishes to your family too!
i need some help please tell me some thing. i need to know how do i get my dog ginger to stop begging
oh please I don’t want to offend any of you but please tell me who are Bill and Star and what GAD is ? I swear I’m not an alien , I’m french and don’t know who they are .
Bo, I send you all my love!!
Did you resent being kicked off the show because star was tired? I thought she did an amazing job trying to impress you, but older dogs sometimes just don’t like pups. Is that how you feel?
Dear Bill, We adopted Pepper a 9 yr old rough collie last year who is very sweet tempered but she was never taught ANY even basic obedience. She is totally different from our 3 yr old male collie Murphy who will do anything for food or even from our 12 yr old sheltie who is so eager to please.
Pepper loves treats but doesn’t quite “get” the reward system. If you use firm commands, she sulks and acts all submissive. And if you use a happy sweet voice, she might eventually come to you but you might have forgotten you even called her by the time she gets there. Do you have any tips for working with older submissive dogs? Most important to me is “Come” for safety reasons at least but I’d love a sit and down too.
I just loved watching you work with Star and advise the other pet owners. Your positive reinforcement was great. I think Travis really learned a lot from you too.
And, you really touched my heart and made me cry when you were finally able to talk to your wife who I can tell is your soul mate and best friend.
Bless you heart Bill, and Star’s too!
We just loved watching you and Star on Greatest American Dog! We think Star is sooo special for what she did for her mommie! We just wanted to say we think you both should have won. I stopped watching after you and Star left!
You did a wonderful job working with her and I too believe that positive reinforcement is the best option.
We could see the pain in your face Bill when Star got hurt ~ I couldn’t bare to watch it. That just broke my heart! I was glad she was ok.
We all hope you and your family have a wonderful Holiday season. You all are truly blessed.
Was it harder for your wife Sherrie to monitor her blood sugar while Star was gone on the show?
Do you have Star’s painting and professional photo from GAD somewhere in your house?
Hi Bill and Star,
Like we told you when we became pals, our mommy has diabetes also. We were just wondering since you are famous now, if you would use your fame for diabetes awareness? We were thinking it would be wonderful if you walked one of the JDRF walk for a cure events or maybe volunteered at a summer camp for kids with diabetes (Camp Conrad-Chinnock in southern California is a great one!)
Hi Bill,
Now that you have left canine academy, are you more confident with Star?
Did this make you prove that your dog can do all of the challenges?
Do that feel good to you?
What were the first things you ever taught Star? What does your wife think of yours and Star’s celebrity? Did you come away learning anything from the other contestants and what did you learn? Christmas is coming soon. Do you buy Star gifts for Christmas? Is there any one thing Star does you can’t get her to stop?
What have been the biggest changes since the show?
Do you keep in touch with anyone from the show?
Hi Bill,
It seemed that the judges placed a lot of weight on the dog who showed the most growth throughout the competition. Naturally a younger dog would have the better chance of winning. Were you and the other contestants with older, more trained dogs ever told that this would be the determining factor before the competition started?
Are there any plans of future seasons?
Thanks.
