I almost choked, laughing, when I read this. I mean its a good idea, but really why make a LAW that says people can't let their dogs get fat? Its a good thing to know (And teach your kids about leaving the dog alone while she eats) but does it really need to be a law? I agree with you Katie, if you never interuppt a dog while hes eating then it will become possesive/aggressive! I inturuppt my dog intintionally to, so he won't become a food-guarder.
(I'm sorry for the spelling, its early in the morning ;P)

I have read that many Brits pets are overweight . Not great healthwise but which is IMHO not as bad as Not feeding or starving a pup. Our girl was a real skinny mini when we adopted her. She was,not fed properly as a pup but did not turn into a food obsessed chow hound. like some of her Hound pals are, bol. :) Do the pet parents have the availability to purchase "healthier" dog food ? I have heard many countries don't have the variety and avilability we do here in the States and Canada . These lesser qualiy foods might also play a role in their weight issues. I don't see jailing pets owners as helping them. Please save that for the abusers and negligent. What will these fines be used for? Now go give your pups a little treat, bol.

In a way this looks like a pretty reasonable law, but how on earth are they going to enforce it?

It does seem to me a little overboard. I agree that Children should be taught NOT to disturb a dog while it is eating. But I do disturb intentionally, my dogs while they are eating, not in a mean way, of course, but I hand feed them, I make them do tricks, and I generally show them that they are going to get their food back. The trainer said to make them work for their food! Over-regulating is over-welming! For dog's sake, I say treat a dog with common sense, which, unfortunately, is not something that can be regulated, or our children would be put to bed on time, doing their homework without excuses, and using better manners!

I asked Bailey and she agrees with Bo. We also wonder how could they possibly enforce this law?
