Police Dogs Get Bulletproof Vests

Police dogs risk their lives for us everyday, now thanks to Vest ‘N .P.D.P. they’re a little safer.
Police officers count on bulletproof vests every day. Now the dogs of the K-9 unit with the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office have the same protection.
Sheriff Bill Schatzman said Wednesday his office has received bulletproof, stab-proof vests for eight of the department’s 10 dogs. Schatzman said the dogs detect explosives, drugs and firearms and help catch criminals, and are in harm’s way.
The Winston-Salem Journal reports none of the sheriff’s dogs have been killed in the line of duty.
The vests cost $900 each and were donated by Vest ‘N P.D.P., a nonprofit organization.
That’s great, hopefully more police dogs across the country will get them. To learn more about the wonderful not-for-profit organization Vest ‘N P.D.P., who raises money to buy the vests, visit their site.
Can you Help? Will you Help?
Vest ‘N P.D.P (Police Dog Protection) raises money to provide Police Dogs with bulletproof/stabproof vests. Police Dogs risk their own lives not knowing the dangers that face them.
They are being killed and injured more frequently than ever. Your donations are strictly utilized for protecting them. Please visit our donation page where you can help save Police Dogs by providing them with Vest Protection.

Unfortunately, a K9 officer was shot and killed in Philadelphia yesterday. I think all K9 officers should be able to have their own bullet proof vests!
Hopefully this will catch on around other sheriff’s depts nationwide, and even more dogs will get better protection.
Police dogs like other officers in law enforcement need protection also.
I think this is a wonderful accomplishment! It should’ve been done a long time ago. K9 dogs are always very important to the squad and if a human officer should wear one, so should a K9. Makes perfect sense!
IN MEMORIUM
This past week Plymouth Meeting, PA lost one of it’s finest K-9 officers to gunfire while in pursuit of bank robbers.
German shepherd “Andy” will be remembered as a dedicated and loyal member of the police department and guardian of its residents. Our sympathy is extended to Andy’s partner Officer Lou Layfield and the entire Plymouth Township Police Department.
I love it! I think “cop dogs” should do agility competitions like the ones here at http://www.cynosport.com.
Thats so sad when k-9 officers go down. I feel so sorry for them, they are just following orders and sometiems they dont know what they are getting into. I found this site the other day when i was reading about k-9 body armor. I dont know if they are good models or not but definately a must for all k-9 units. I defineately hope grants are given so all dogs can wear one.
I think its great to see all of these non-profit groups collecting donations to help K9’s get body armor. I’ve seen a lot of teens in the news lately too, setting up fund-raisers in their city or town to purchase bulletproof vests for police dogs. These dogs are put in harms way and deserve the same level of protections as do the officers.
poor dog. I feel sorry for it to. It was just doing what it was told.
How can there be any doubt? We should protect anybody or any K-9 that protects us!
