Have Passport, Will Travel
Horst Hoefinger

Sgt. Gwen Beberg, serving in Iraq, rescued a puppy from a burning pile of trash.

The problem is getting the puppy, Ratchet, into the U.S. due to rules prohibiting soldiers from adopting pets.

“I just want my puppy home,” Sgt. Gwen Beberg of Minneapolis wrote to her mother in an e-mail Sunday from Iraq, soon after she was separated from the dog following a transfer. “I miss my dog horribly.” Beberg, 28, is scheduled to return to the U.S. next month.

There have been exceptions thanks to the group Operation Baghdad Pups, they’ve gotten 50 dogs and six cats transferred to the U.S. in the last eight months.

Operation Baghdad Pups’ program coordinator, Terry Crisp, is scheduled to arrive in Baghdad on Wednesday. Crisp said the adopted dogs left behind face death on Iraqi streets.

She said Iraqis view dogs and cats as nuisances and carriers of disease, and U.S. soldiers have rescued many of them from abuse.

Let your bark be heard,  help in “Operation Ratchet”  by going to the petition site and putting your paw on paper to help bring this innocent puppy home.

However, can a puppy, rescued from a burning pile of trash, pass service in US millitary force in Iraq ?
Can The Command of a part, do the order?

  6. Val & Gracie, Mozart & Wolfgang

We signed too. Our big brother Greg has been there twice now. It’s good to do something in return not only for our troops but for the fur friends they’ve made there.

It seems the American government uses it’s power given to it by the people to control the people and getting worse each day. This puppy(creature of God,like us) has a person that will give it a good life(key word, life) and yet will stop this puppy from being loved because the government says NO. I have seen thousand of animals put to death by the government after Vietnam after fighting for American lives and giving their own.
IT’S NO WONDER THEY CAN SEND PEOPLE TO DIE AND LOSE NO SLEEP,SHOW A LITTLE HEART AND IF A GOOD HEART PERSON WANTS TO BRING A ANIMAL HOME THE GOVERNMENT SHOULD LET THEM AFTER BEING CHECK. THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE AMERICAN GOVERNMENT THAT GOES AGAINST KINDNESS AND COMPASSION.
LET THE PUPPY COME HOME WITH THE PERSON YOU SENT TO DIE,MAY THEY BOTH COME HOME TO LIVE.

    Is this true?

I hope that Ratchet is able to come home, our dog Blue is from Iraq (you can read his story on his Dogster page if you’d like) so there’s still hope!
