Jaws Attack

Usually we hear about sharks attacking humans, not so in this case.
Here’s a story with a twist, human attacks shark to save his dog.
ISLAMORADA, Fla., Sept. 30 (UPI) — Greg LeNoir of Islamorada, Fla., says he had to overcome his own fear before he could save his 14-pound dog, Jake, from the jaws of a shark.
Jake, a 28-month-old rat terrier, was taking his daily swim retrieving soaked coconuts when LeNoir watched a 5-foot shark swim up and pull Jake under water, The Miami Herald reported Tuesday.
I would say Greg has some big kahunas, kudos to him.
“I clenched my fists and dove straight in with all my strength, like a battering ram,” LeNoir, 53, said. “I hit the back of the shark’s neck. It was like hitting concrete.”
The shark let go of Jake, who swam to shore trailing blood from punctures in his abdomen, chest and back, LeNoir said of Friday’s attack. Jake is expected to fully recover.
Jake was adopted from an animal shelter and is now part of the family. The LeNoir’s have no two legged children so Jake is their four legged child.
It’s so nice to post a story with a happy ending.

Way to go Greg! Our prayers to Jake for a quick recovery.
WOW thats love, I always think of all the horrible things that might happen to our only baby and I tell my husband I would throw myself in front of a pit~bull, shark or anything that was trying to get to her, we cant have kids and I would give my life to save hers, she is our miracle baby. That was a warm and fuzzy letter, thanks for sharing.
Wow, I have a Rat Terrier and I live in Florida so this story really rattles me! Thank goodness they are both alright – I would have done the same thing without thinking twice – Jakes picture is on Msn news and in our local papers down here. He’s a black and white cutie.
Goes to show, never mess with a Rat Terrier, they’re tough, and their daddy’s will kick your a**, and their mommies too for that matter.
Jake will be in our prayer… What a great “dog” Dad
Greg and Jake rock!! What a great example of human love for a dog. I only hope that I would be as brave and quick acting to save my own four legged best friend.
Much love and hopes for a speedy recovery Jake!
xoxo
OH YEAH, I love seeing stories like this. This just proves me point, ONCE AGAIN, that terriers are awesome. We will rule the world. Oooh that’s right, we already do. HA! I’m happy to see Jake is doing good, thanks to hims wonderful persons.
What a PAWtastic Dad! You GO Greg! So glad Jake will make a full recovery. What a dreadful experience for the poor little guy though.
Awesome!!! Good for you Greg! I would do the same for my pooch! or at least try!
I just read this story, what a gutsy move, but it shows the love people have for their pets…..it was nice.
I read about this story earlier tonight. Thanks for posting! Man talk about courage! I’d like to think we would all do that but I surf and I get scared of sharks sometimes. Koodos to that guy!
Way to go Greg. I would like to think that any of us animal lovers would do the same thing if in that situation. Our pets are so loyal to us that it’s only fair we show our loyalty to them every now and then. Hopefully not in such an extreme situation though. Hope Jake makes a quick recovery.
What a special bond Jake and Greg must have! They are both so lucky to have each other in their lives. Way to go Greg! That took great courage and extreme love to rescue Jake. Power of the Paw for you, Jake, as you recover.
I did not realise before that sharks are unable to stop swimming in order to sleep. No wonder they are so irritable!
