Carol Crocker, Dog Rescuer, Needs Our Help
Horst Hoefinger

Carol Crocker lives in rural Alabama with 101 dogs that she rescued from certain death.  Where she lives there is no animal control or any shelters.

If it wasn’t for her these dogs would be destroyed.  Although the mayor knew what was going on it was ignored until recently.

The mayor has been recorded in court papers saying, “We knew what was going on but we had no where else to take the animals.” Now, he wants her shelter abolished. There is no animals control. So now Carol Crocker has 101 dogs.

Carol isn’t a young woman, in fact she’s retired and lives on a meager pension from the airlines and social security.

Last year her house was burned to the ground and now she lives in the garage, she had no homeowners insurance and can’t afford to rebuild.

Carol has loved and cared for each one of these dogs.  She is not looking for money or donations. All she wants is to find homes for her beloved dogs before the county steps in.

This is NOT a hoarder situation. It is an older woman who kept having county dogs dropped off and now, on top of losing pretty much everything she had, the county wants to make her life more difficult.

She is devastated at what has happened and is terrified of the county taking them and putting them down. All she wants is for good rescues to help her out.

If you can help, or know anyone that can help, please contact Carrol Crocker directly or Shari dogpackrescue@hughes.net.

Wow, what an amazing woman.  She has lost everything but her primary concern is still for her dogs.  Our best wishes go out to Carol, we’re rooting for you.

Why will the county not provide a shelter? Who are the legislators and representatives of this area? If she cannot get local help, that is what our elected officials are for. In addition, perhaps corporate sponsors can provide something to this mix. How can we get this information out to people locally who can help this woman. Let’s start with the dogs and then help her with her living conditions. I live in Oklahoma but I will start a letter writing campaign. It’s not much but it’s something. I already have 5 dogs which is one over our city’s limit or I would take a dog off her hands.

Can she start the paperwork to officially become a non-profit organization? I’m not sure how one would go about that but it could be a possible solution for her.
Victoria – please send me an email when you have the specifics of that letter-writing campaign. I’d be more than happy to write a few letters.

Maybe we could help get these dogs adopted. Would the county hold off on taking any action if she actively put the dogs up for adoption? Maybe money could be raised to place ads in regional newspapers. We could also post ads for the dogs on the internet. I’d be willing to post pictures and contact info on my blog.

We have the same thing here, the town refuses to pay for any animal control, so all animals end up at an old couple’s house, they are not licensed, they have filthy arrangements for the animals, keep dogs together that fight so bad they have bleeding wounds, no shelter from the weather & the list goes on & on….

I hope these 100 + dogs do find homes & that this woman can finally get a house.
