Recap – Greatest American Dog Week 3
Week three of Greatest American Dog is over and it’s sure to have folks talking.
Here’s what I liked about last night’s show: Elvis being allowed to redeem himself and play with the other dogs. He and Tillman going at it had me cracking up. I could watch 60 minutes of just dogs playing. It puts a smile on my face, and I know if I looked across the room at my wife, she’d be smiling too.
What didn’t I like last night? It’s starting to take on that Survivor mentality. After winning the team event, Travis and Brandy voted to put Laurie in the dog house. Here’s a woman who, up to that point, had been a kind, loving owner with nothing but helpful tips for others. Why her? The fact Travis saw her as a ‘threat’ was the motivation. I don’t like that tone at all. I’m watching because of the human-canine bond. I get enough of the human-human clash in real life.
Maybe it was just me, so I decided to ask my viewing partners their thoughts.
I asked Logan, who he thought should have been given their walking papers. He turned to me and said, “Pop, it was team week. You don’t throw members of your own team under the bus. Based on that I have to let Laurie and Andrew go. Not only did Laurie throw David and Elvis under the bus, she backed over him a couple of times.”
Then it was Copper’s turn. “Well, I don’t like people who cheat. Brandy helped Beacon at the end of the agility run by lifting up that thingamajig. Also, Andrew’s mom poked a huge hole into one of the hoops that he had to jump thru. Based on that, I would vote Brandy off the show.”
After a pause, Copper confessed, “The fact her high pitched voice hurts my ears may have influenced my decision.”
Finally, the cagey veteran Bo had his say. “You need to keep the human personalities out of it. It’s all about the dogs and how well they work with their owners. Based on the first three episodes, Elvis was the weakest competitor left. Although I must admit he was amazing on the maze portion of his event. Still, he had to go. Hey Logan, you gonna finish that biscuit?”
To the untrained ear it sounded like this:
Logan: Aarff
Copper: Grrrrr
Bo: Woof
Which may also be translated to mean, “We love this show and will be back watching it next week!!”
I’ll be watching too.

I LOVE this show. I look foward to it sooo much every week. Does ne one know if they’ll do it again next year and if soo how do we try out????
I loved this week’s competition – the dogs were so cute when there were pulling the cart together at the end of the race. However I am very disappointed in Laurie… I didn’t expect that from her. But her dog Andrew is still adorable.
I love the show even though it seems very cruel at times. The show creates a lot of stress for the dogs and I can’t help but feel bad for them. Some owners get them nervous with that “must win” attitude and others with great owners like Starr seem to be just a little homesick… and not keeping the area clear from dangers does not help. But as for the competition… I do NOT agree with the decision made. Elvis with his partner did extremely well together. He is NOT the weekest link in the chain. He CAN follow orders and he WAS improving. It was very important for them to remain there. Now, Laurie and Andrew, they are the ones who should go. The show is about the bond and teamwork. whih means the owners MUST be taken into account as well and by putting poor little Elvis in the shoot… especially saying he BIT many dogs here… ,please only one and they made up (I wish Ron put his two cents in). That statement probably was the decidin factor for Elvis but the fact that Laurie became a hypocritical and CHEATING person….they should go. If she would have made a bigger hole for Andrew at an OFFICIAL official competition, she would have been dismissed and that is what should have happened. They are not growing as a team or even helping other teams to grow together … so they should have gone. COME BACK TO US ELVIS!!!!! V_V
Ok everyone… CBS has outdone themselves!!!!
Woof Woof Woof!!! The best reality show on that picture tube thingy.
My favorites from the beginning have been Presley and Travis as well as Star and Bill. But there were disappointing moments in the last show:
1- Travis trying to discourage the competition

My favorites from the beginning have been Presley and Travis as well as Star and Bill. But there were disappointing moments in the last show:
1- Travis trying to discourage the competition. I know it is a show to win… but YIP… come one people, it is suppose to be about the dogs! This is Not Survivor!
2- Laurie turning against David at then end! Grrrrrrr! What happened to the whole Team-Work attitude???
modo (my own dog opinion) Star & Bill are furrrtastice!
Bill is such a good Dad! Not only to his little Star baby but to everyone who will listen to his kind words of help. Paws up to you Bil & Star.
I really like the greatest american dog show, but if you do, better go to cbs.com and hey nielsen.com to let them know. At one time there were only 5 comments on Nielsen and they were negative. The show is being moved to Wed. night after this week, so show your support !
My faves are Bill and Star… Hope the old man can hold up cause he is old in dog years! As per Star, he’s still in training!
