What a beautiful and touching article. I, too, was unaware of dog auctions. Until recently, I had no idea many puppy mills were run by the Amish and Mennonite communities. This is so shocking to me that this group of people would even think of doing this to innocent animals. Like the reader above, this seems to go against what I thought were their beliefs. Shame on them for abusing these innocent lives and no concern for the welfare of these animals. It saddens me to know people can even think of doing this for money.

What a powerful article! Thanks for posting this. I have adopted 3 dogs from shelters, and they sound much like the auction place...very dirty, smelly, cramped...with every adopted dog, I always wished I was taking more, but I know how many I can handle. I even have some rescues from some bad home situations, as well. This is an article that needs to be read. Things like this are happening everywhere. Word needs to get out in every way possible.

BARC does so mcuh good! I have a friend who has opened her home to one of these special dogs. This story is true. We all must do what we can to stop puppy mills and auctions and to breed healthy dogs!

I didn't know about the auctions... this is just heartbreaking. Thank you for sharing this article, so many people need to hear it. If only everyone would adopt a rescue or pound dog.
