We think all pups are lovely, but we admit there are some breeds who stand out from the crowd due to their atypical appearances. Here’s our list of the ones who make us say, “Bow-WOW!”

Remember, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I thought Sheba, my Neapolitan Mastiff (see #4), was the prettiest girl in the world, though plenty of people say Neos look like monsters. Rubbish!

This is very cute. I agree some of them are funny looking, but how could you not include the Bull Terrier in that list? Especially the white ones, they look like pig dogs!!! No other dog has a noggin’ like theirs….
I LOVE Pharoh hounds!!! I have poodles which people think are funny looking enough (especially my standard). But Pharoh’s are amazing with those eyes, the cute blushing nose, and the ears! BEAUITFUL not funny looking!
What? How could you not include the Brussels Griffon? Don’t they look like the Grinch from How the Grinch Stole Xmas???

I am a bit surprised, no, disappointed, to see that we Dachshunds are not on the list. After all, it has been said and sung that we are “…half a dog high, a dog-and-a-half long”. Each of the pups/breeds featured are beautiful in their own way!

Whippets are very regal, not funny looking. All dogs are cute in their own way.

I agree with Floyd, there is no such thing as an ugly or funny looking dog. Unfortunately, people always see the Chinese Cresteds in the world’s ugliest dog competition (how horrible is THAT contest!!), there are very beautiful cresteds out there and they have the sweetest personalities too.

The Pharaoh Hound and the Whippet are so beautiful. I am owned by 6 Italian Greyhounds that I think are very elegant and beautiful. I’ve heard people say they look like rats though.
You forgot to mention bull terriers! This breed never stay unnoticed on the street, that egg shaped head and muscles make them stand out!
They are great little dogs but, everytime I see a Brussels Griffon, I just cant stop giggleing at that face! But it’s all part of what makes him so charming.

Well, I like Pharoah hounds and Grey Hounds but, I am not so sure they would be on the top ten for funniest looking. I think the terriers are pretty funny sense most of then look like old men. bol!
I have two Brussels Griffons and I think that they are absolutely unique. Plus a lot of people think my nine pugs are funny looking. Beauty is truly in the eye of the beholder!

Hm…2 sighthounds in there…pharaohs and whippies as NOT funny-looking at all. I think the Peruvian Inca Orchids should be on the list especially the hairless ones…hell any “hairless” dog for that matter. Def not Whippies or Pharaohs.
I’m also very surprised that Bull Terriers were not on the list! I thought they would get on it for sure. I do think Chinese Cresteds are funny looking, but I think they’re pretty cute, however that particular photo is pretty ugly, sorry to say!!!

Surprised that the Pug didnt make the list. So ugly you fall in love with them. I personally prefer my dog. My gorgeous Boxer. Nothing ugly about them. I have an ex boyfriend that is uglier than any dog on Gods green earth. LOL wish I could post his ugly butt here. LOL

I agree with Coopers mom my White boxer is a gorgeous. I figure once you go flat (nose) you don’t go back. Hee Hee.
That looks more like a greyhound than a whippet (seems quite tall for a whippet) and there is nothing funny looking about them at all.

Not to pick on Lucille Bald, who is a fun dog and her mom loves her, or even th “World’s Ugliest Dog” competition–but Lucille is not a good example of the Chinese Crested breed!
She’s an older dog–what do you think most dogs would look like at that age if they had no hair? What do naked humans in their sixties look like?
She had really bad breeding, and also a hard life until she went into rescue and her mom found her. Hairless dogs that are properly bred, and loved and cared for all their lives, don’t look like that. Here’s my Dad.
I might be wrong, but it doesn’t look like you chose physically terrible examples of the breed for the other “funny looking” dog breeds. (Well, except the “whippet” who looks too tall to be anything but a greyhound. Of course, I also don’t get why you think they’re funny-looking.)
That is indeed a pure bred whippet , not a greyhound . She is a finished race champion , and therapy dog .

i think they are all cute, but my fav. cute dog is the jack russell, i have two and they are so funny. talk about funny look at a skinny chihuahua! i want one, but we have 3 dogs now. good site all.

My uncle has a dog that is sooo ugly it hurts to look at him but he’s super sweet. He’s really inbred they say hea a “pointer” beagle mix. I know the beagle parts right but idk what those other things are. *sigh* I guess when you love one dog you gotta love ‘em all.

I dont agree with The Briard, Pharaoh Hound, Whippet [Duh], or the place of the Neo. The Brussel G, should deff. be up front…and the Bedlington should be in front of the Neo. the Briard & Pharaoh Hound are beautiful dogs. And the Whippet being on this list is just pointless. They did a poor job putting this list up. They should re-do it. Sorry for anyone who disagrees, but it’s true.
However, The Mexican Hairless, Puli & Frenchie & Chinese Crested are greatly spotted.
And for the Puli, i personally hate this breed because of the hair, it should be “Got a Mop anyone?”
Why not the Bergamasco? They have the weirdest coats!
What can I say - I only have two dogs and both made the list - #4 neopolitan mastiff and #7 brussels griffon (the pic looks just like our Brodie). On top of being funny looking they both have great personalities and are the best of friends. Who needs cable when we have these two for entertainment!

What about Chinese Shar Peis? Are Neos the “new Shar Pei”? I grew up with these wrinkly “so ugly they are cute” dogs…yet they are not mentioned much anymore…oh well, I would prefer a Neo now anyway, as I have grown into a Molosser Dog fan and the Mastiffs of all types all have that extra OOMPH that makes me adore them.
Something about those folds of skin that make you want to hang them out to dry to show how much skin they have left to grow into…LOL!
My neighbor has a Xolo, named Woody, and most people’s reaction to him is “WOW, he is SOOO cute!”, but she wanted to enter him in a local “Ugly Dog Competition”, I am afraid there just won’t ever be another Sam in my eyes, that poor dog! Woody would have to have a complete make under to actually BE ugly–he’s just too cute with his gold BLING, flashy tags, lubed cocoa colored skin, tight doggy muscle tees, and that red blond mohawk…..hard to think he is ugly, looks more like a stout Italian Greyhound that isn’t afraid to show a little skin!
I think the Chinese Crested’s are one of the most elegant breeds ever. They have limited hair, therefore allowing people with allergies to own a dog. Some of them do not bark. I have 3 Chinese Cresteds and I believe they are in the most top elegant looking breeds of all. It’s a shame that the breed gets such a bad wrap, I wouldn’t have any other breed!

In her Ugly Dog “retirement”, Lucille Bald is now officially a registered Therapy Dog. She volunteers and brings smiles to nursing home residents and hosptial patients. What? Italian greyhounds aren’t on the list? I find some Iggies are really bad photo ops. Either you get a really good pic of them or a reeeaaaaaalllly bad one. Bad ones tend to make the breed look shakey, wimpy and pathetic. Good ones make ‘em look like weight watchers models, LMAO!
