Edna’s Kidnapper Sentenced
Thanks to Bill Whiting, Edna’s furdaddy, for barking in this news.
Help me with this; this young man has a low IQ so he doesn’t receive much more than a slap. I understand taking that into account but lets get real here. He will torture again given the chance. The next time he may move on to a human child or an elderly person. He is sick and effectively looking the other way will not improve his IQ or make it less likely that he will receive a soul infusion of goodness and light.
How about we call this sort of “justice” what it is — ostrich justice. Hide your head in the sand and hope it all goes away.
My heart and thoughts go out to Bill and Edna’s spirit.
Today was sentencing day for Victor Rodriquez. He is being sent to a juvenile facility called Midlantic or Mid-Atlantic. The courtroom echoes, and its difficult to hear what is being said. He will be re-evaluated after 90 days, where upon he could be paroled. If he gets in trouble, then time will be added to his sentence.
His conviction as a car theft is a felony. His involvement in the Edna dog-cruelty case is boiled down to a list of misdemeanors, and no actual charges included animal cruelty. Edna has never been found. As his IQ is so low, none of the juvenile prison facilities would accept him. Where he is going is generally a one year program. That is all. He will remain in the prison system until he is 21, either in custody or on parole. It seems like an unusually light punishment in my opinion.
Life is not imbued with guarantees of fairness, and answers are not always provided.

It’s reassuring to know that animal owners in your country can take help from the Law agencies to address crime against animals. Where I come from we have a long way to go yet. I hope it will not be too long for the sake of the animals.
My heart breaks for the owner of this poor dog. I hate to sound like a crazy vigilante, but if that happened to us and that is all they had given the sadist, trust me, he would regret it the rest of his life. Keep our animals close. If you live in a bad area, try and get one of those new devices thats like a gps so you can find them fast if someone like this steals them.
My heart just breaks for Bill.
What a joke! he was “sentenced” to 90 days parole and if the gets in trouble again more time will be added to the “sentence”? HE WILL GET INTO TROUBLE AGAIN! This guy is a @##** psycho!! having a low iq shouldn’ t be an excuse for this kind of behavior!! Victor Rodriguez will kill again thanks to the leniency he has just received. My heart goes to Edna’s dad this is an outrage.
I’ve read everything I can about this case and my emotions have ranged from heartbreak for Bill and Edna, hope that she was still alive somewhere, anger at Verizon for the delays in providing the police with phone records and now intense acrimony towards the DA for not taking this case further. Once again the victim is punished and the perpetrator coddled. There were other people involved who are still on the loose to cause more pain to innocents. Why is the perpetrator not pressed to give them up? Why is he not pressed for details on what happened to Edna? Because he is “handicapped”? The DA, when asked if any trace of a dog was found in the pepetrator’s house, responded that she didn’t enter any such evidence. What a copout. I sincerely hope that someone is keeping tabs on Rodriguez and, when he is “available” can finish the DA’s job and “persuade” him to give up his cohorts and confess what they did with Edna. I’m so sorry, Bill.
My thoughts go out to Bill and to Edna, a wonderful dog, not to be forgotten. Many care.

My heart breaks for Bill and Edna. It frustrates me so much that they couldn’t get that pathetic excuse for a human being to confess and give the names of the other monsters involved in this horror. Someone needs to make that kid tell where poor sweet Edna is and what happened to her.
And with that slap on the wrist sentence, he will get out and harm again probably a child this time and the s.o.b. will probably enjoy every minute of it. Pure evil.
This person’s IQ was high enough to kidnap poor Edna and demand some type of ransom right? If so, then his IQ is high enough to put his heinie in jail with the big boys.
So there is no punishment for a criminal if he’s mentally challenged? Aren’t child molesters a smidgey mentally challenged?
Kenyon’s Mom — Great point. I think it’s absolutely important that we consider the mental capacities of those people who were put away for murder, molestation, rape and other horrendous crimes. In a lot of those cases, the perpetrator is somehow deranged or mentally unhinged. To hold this case to a different standard is not serving justice. Poor Bill will live with the sadness of this hate crime for the rest of his life. This kid was clearly NOT taught right from wrong, and our justice system isn’t teaching him either.
Bill, there are no words that will take away the pain you’re feeling right now. My heart breaks for you, and for poor little Edna.
Bill,
I have followed this case from the outset. I have cried for your loss and shed tears of anger.
Anger that there are no answers and anger for what sweet Edna did not understand. The Judge should have demanded knowledge for your closure and sanity.
VR will get his due. He is a sociopath and it always comes back around.
My prayers are with you.
