Dogster Asks About Furminator
Joy

Janet barked in this question about a product, the Furminator.

I have a question. Has anbody used the Furminator? .Iit is used for dogs that shed a lot, and I have a lapso apso/beagle mix and he sheds a bunch. The Furminator is supposed to help this. Anybody have anything on this gadget?

I actually have a Furminator and use it to strip dead hair off of all my dogs.

They love it! Sol will stand still for hours as long as I’m using the Furminator on him. The others are just as fond of it! In fact, when they see it, all the pack starts jostling each other to be the closest so they’ll get scratched first.

My pack members are all fairly short-haired dogs but I notice that the Furminator pulls a lot of old, dead hair out of their coats so it doesn’t get spread around the house. Very cool!

Janet, I hope this helps. Anyone else have a Furminator experience they want to share? Bark in!

Janet, I LOVE the furminator! It came recommended to me by a fellow Akita owner I met online. I have 3 Akitas and when they began to blow their coats I was simply using a store bought ‘rake’. He told me about the furminator and I’ll never go back! It will strip all the dead hair and really gets to the undercoat of my dogs and leaves them silky smooth.

My male will stand there and allow me to furminate him until it looks as though I have another dog laying beside him. And my female will lay down beside me and then roll over so I can do her other side. I’m still working on my puppy.

I would highly recommend the furminator to anyone so I hope this helps you out. Enjoy it! The inventor of the furminator was brilliant!

I got a smalll furminator to use on my cats. It works great for getting out the dead undercoat. Comes loose very easily. I got a cheaper “copycat” version for my sister to use on her Lab mix and worked just as well. Daisy loved it and lay down and rolled over so we get at her sides and belly better.

Great product. My dogs love the thing and so do we. Just be cognizant that the product is essentially a toothed-razor so don’t be too rough and watch out for little human hands…

I have a furminator and I love it! Our dog is a mutt and she has short hair and it still gets out tons of hair! I recommend one.

We love it, love it, love it!! You will not be disappointed.

Our lab loves to be brushed with this. While she wants to sit down the whole time we are brushing her!!! Like someone else said be careful with the brush and read the instructions good. We love this brush and the results that it gave!!!

I also have the furminator and my girls just love it!! I have 2 Amer Staff/mixes…..one of them is mixed with cattle dog so her fur is a little longer but they both really enjoy being brushed. It’s amazing how much fur you’ll get when using it especially after they’ve gotten wet rather a bath, beach or etc! I also have 3 kitties and have a smaller one for them only 2 of them like it and the other one no way well 2 out of 3 ain’t bad.. :o) It is really mind boggleing how much fur comes off them!!!!

We did not have success with it or a budget one. :(( Our girl has a shorter coat with underoat that is combable so this should have worked but unforunately not in her case. I was hopingit would cut down her shedding. Good luck glad you had success with it.,

I purchased a large furminator for my Labs, Beagle/mix, Collie/mix, and 2 Aussie/mix dogs. You would think that short haired dogs like a lab don’t have that much dead hair, WRONG, the first time I used it I found dead hair that all the other brushes combined couldn’t get out.
You just want to make sure and not use it on hair that is matted because the teeth will catch the hair and try to pull it out.
I was skeptical at first with the cost being up there but having 7 dogs it cuts down on the loose hair in the house and their coats feel Great…….

We use the furminator for our goldens, it works really well!

We bought it at it http://www.furrypetsupply.com/fur00100.html. If your dog sheds, it is well worth the price.
