Sign Petition to Boycott Amish Goods Until Their Communities Close Puppy Mills
PLEASE CROSSPOST!
Now this is a petition I can REALLY get behind! It seems the only way to get the message across to Amish communities that puppy mills are evil is to hit them economically.
Thanks to Karen S. for barking in this petition. It only takes a moment to sign and all our signatures are important.
Here’s more information from the Boycott Amish products until puppy mills are discontinued petition.
To: Amish & Mennonite puppy mills
I will boycott all Amish products until puppy mills are stopped. This is greed in its worst form and this is how consumers make their demands known. I simply will not buy Amish products while this practice continues.
And before you start saying that boycotting Amish products will affect people who aren’t participating in puppy mills, think again. Amish communities are very closed to and extremely disinterested in what they call the “English.” That’s all of us, btw. Unless their leadership declares puppy mills are off limits, the Amish puppy millers will keep up their dirty work. The only way to convince these puppy millers to quit is to make the whole practice very expensive to the WHOLE community.

I signed the petition. Thank you for letting us know about it. I know a lady who has rescued several Golden Retrievers from the Amish and some were so mistreated they did not live long after rescue. I had no idea about what goes on until she became involved and shared her experiences with us…
I signed, but I found it weird that adds for Amish stores (and chicks) came up on the website.
Erika - it’s because Google Ads uses keywords from the site to generate ad content. It doesn’t really know any better.
Thanks for posting this, Im going to cross post right now on my blog.
As someone who grew up around the Amish community, and whose oldest and dearest friend in the world is Amish, I hate the fact that the Amish are so into puppy mills; however, I seriously doubt that they will ever stop.
What is so sad is that ALL animals are considered livestock to the Amish. They don’t have the same feelings toward animals that us “English” do. We think of our pets as members of the family. The Amish don’t have pets; they have livestock for which a lot of them depend on for their livelihood. It’s a very sad fact of life.
Hey everyone,
Thanks for your support with the petition. I have also started another campaign in the San Diego area. I have found that the puppy mills depend heavily on the sales of puppies from the East and West coasts. If we dry up the markets, there can be no more puppy mills. I am gathering a group that will stand in front of pet stores and hand out flyers that urge a boycott on the pet store until they stop buying dogs from puppy mills. Maybe the pet shop owners will then see the light. The website is: http://www.dogloversofsandiegocounty.com. I will not give up until puppy mill buyers are out of this county. Maybe everyone can police their own county/city/village/tribe, etc. in a collaborative effort. Together we are strong!
Joy - do you know what happened to the petition? The link isnt working anymore. It was just brought to my attention…

The petition is still up and going strong. It just takes awhile to circulate. There is another petition that I support too. It is the Puppy Mill Bill. The “Puppy Mill Bill” simply states that “Puppy Mills” should be outlawed in every state. A puppy mill, for this purpose, will be defined as:
Any individual, group, or business that produces a puppy, and sells or gives the puppy to another party to resell.
By signing this petition, you agree with the above definition and the outlaw of all puppy mills in the United States. This petition will be introduced with the “Puppy Mill Bill” to congress, once the required amount of signatures are obtained.
This was submitted by the Animal Welfare League.
Please sign. Last I saw, there were 4,126 signatures on it.
Please Dogsters! Lets get going!
I WORK AT A VET’S OFFICE AND IF YOU COULD SEE THE PUPPIES THAT COME FROM THE MILLS YOU COULD SEE WHY WE NEED TO CLOSE NOT JUST AMISH MILLS BUT ALL THE MILLS.
I recently found out the place where I purched my puppy was a mill, also people have been trying shut the place down for years, but the owners are politically connected. Any thoughts?? My puppy is a paricidic mess, so far he’s had Giardia 3 times, all kinds of worms including tape worm, and now I have to take him to another Vet to be treated for Mange! I would love to be instramental in closing this place down but I have know idea of how to go about it. Please feel free to email any thoughts about this. guppy4516@msn.com
I thoroughly agree with this petition but suggest taking it a step further. Our family had a business in Holmes Co. Ohio for over 10 years. That area is VERY dependent on the tourist dollars. Even though many of the businesses are owned by the English or progressive Mennonites, many of these owners are related in one way or another to the Amish. Send emails or letters to the Holmes County Chamber of Commerce and the Berlin Downtown Merchants Assoc. expressing your commitment to not visit and provide them anymore tourist dollars until this horrific auction is booted out of the area. There is a lot to be said for pressure. Also, a letter to the owner of the Holmes County Flea Market would be good as he is providing the building for it. Might want to threaten a decrease in his tourist dollars. We were told that the USDA actually came into the area some years ago and encouraged the Amish to start breeding dogs as a new cash crop business. Our government encourages it! The Amish are neither quaint or simple, just really shrewd business people who will do anything for a buck. And they have the compassion of a serial killer. Very self centered people who mostly don’t even know why they do the things they do, only that the church says so. Also, if the names of the Bishops of the various churches could be found out, a mass letter writing campaign to them would be good as they are like God to these people and if they say don’t do it, they won’t. Wouldn’t it be great if enough money could be raised to rent billboard space on the main roads going into Amish Country encouraging people to not visit until this is all changed? The Amish are having problems with birth defects because they are so inbred.
I have hated them for a long time because of the horrible levels of rape and incest and abuse of women in their so-called “community”. Notice how cults always call themselves a community?
Death to the Amish!
i just read about this in peopls magazine i am horrified i had no idea that the amish ran puppy mills this must be stopped. they are cruel people.
I am horrified at finding this information. I recently visited Amish country this past summer and was unaware of this situation. I will NEVER purchase or support this group again. I will pass this news around and hope this insanity is put to a stop!
