Dachshund Adopts Piglet

Yes, its a piglet in with the puppies!
I just got these photos attributed to Coletta Johnson. Isn’t this little dachshund wonderful! What a great mom!

She is fostering this guy for another mom who couldn’t take care of him. He had his eyes closed, but now they are open.

He is just a little bigger than her other pups. Mom loves this little guy more than the other puppies and she is nursing him back to health. He is the cleanest piggy ever because mom licks him all the time.

OMG, this is too cute!
These pics make make me want to run out and buy a pig!! I won’t of course, but geez , is he cute or what?! Unfortunatly he will grow to be VERY LARGE, eat them out of house and home and squeal and grunt rather loudly! I hope they have a nice home for him later down the road.
That is the most precious thing my mom has seen…It is amazing that another mom can take over for another and not even being the same animal…
Absolutely beautiful
Wow. What a cutie! All of them are! Little Piggy looks right at home, doesn’t she?
How adorable!!! What a sweet mama…and a lucky piglet!
OMG that is the cutest thing ever. How caring for one animal to take care of another baby, not even the same breed!
Juz shows how wonderful Gods creatures are, this is an example of how we can make these world a better place to live in,love and peace. Thanks pupmom
I am trying to find out EXACTLY where this picture came from, as I have someone that is trying to pass them off as their own. Other people would like to know as well.
[...] when I see a truly moving adoption story. This one is definitely among them, it’s about a dachshund who adopted a piglet. I found it at Dogster’s official “For the Love of the Dog Blog,” which is worth [...]
This absolutely made my day. I’m stunned nobody has made a pig-in-a-blanket joke yet, though.
The last photo… the fuzz on piglet’s head! Oh, I wish they could stay so small.
MMMMMMM………ribs.
This is adorable! What a wonderful mommy!
I guess this proves that dogs have boundless love for all creatures.
OMG!!!!!!!!!!!! Precious!!!!!! Loved it.
Terri
Too cute for words!!!
I’m a children’s author and would like to see if Coletta Johnson would be interested in collaborating on a picture book?
what wonderful pictures:)
We had a dachshund just like the one in these pictures and he was fanatical about some of our baby goats when we had to bring them in for one reason or another. Must be something about the breed!
I just saw this about the sweet dog and beautful pink (I think they said that was the piggy’s name) in an email. So glad to see it here too. I love how animals can take care of one another, whether family or not. Maybe we humans need a lesson from them. Such heart warming pictures!
Awwwww…………what an adorable little piggy and what a great mom! she looks very comfortable in her role. Thankyou for posting these~ : )
This is one of the best things I’ve ever seen in my life!!
Praise Stumbleupon!
That is the most adorable thing ever!
Of course, piglets are NEVER not adorable. But that is sooo sweet!
That is precious. The little piglet is so cute and fits right in with the puppies.
Hi! I am the proud owner of Tink and Pink. Tink is an amazing dog. Two of the puppies she is nursing belong to my other mini dachshund, Sammi. Sammi had a huge litter, 7 pups, and it was her first litter. Tink had two puppies a few days later and one was stillborn. She was so happy to get two more puppies to love. When I brought the pig from the barn, she went crazy over him and immediately became very protective of him. She tucked him under her chin and let him nurse. He is now a little over 3 weeks old and they are all doing great. Tink and her puppies were featured on ABC’s Good Morning America this morning. They showed some pictures of her and Pink and told a brief story about them. My kids were thrilled to see the story. Thanks for all of the kind responses to this story.

OMG! THis is the most cutest thing I have ever seen! I just want to take these home with me! I LOVE PIGS AND DOGS!
I used to beg my parents to give me a pig but I never got one. I would love to sometime in the rest of my life though. At least I would like to hold one again just once! I love this photo! Who’s with me!
I am with you! I need to set that as my backround!
This just goes to show that love knows no bounds
What a sweetie!
OMG! When I first saw the picture I thought it was a toy pig! My dachshund would NOT want a baby pig around (or any other babies for that matter!). The cat however, is much more paternal and would take care of it.
I have always heard that pigs are not naturally good mothers. This cute little guy lucked out by getting a dog mama instead.
Is that not the most precious thing? I just love it!
This doesn’t really surprise me. I’m a vet, and once had a client with two dogs–the chihuahua had to have an emergency C-section and wanted nothing to do with the pups we delivered. Back home was the older spayed female dachsund who was so enamored of the pups that even spayed, she went into a false pregnancy, started lactating, and produced enough milk to raise the chi. pups as her own. It’s amazing the way mother nature and mother dogs work together!
Oh my gosh. The little piggy is SO cute.
And so are the puppies,of course :]
This pig is the cutest thing I have ever seen. The only thing cuter is the way the mommmy dog takes care of him!!
What a wonderful little mom!
This is so cute how sweat of tha tbeatful dog he is so cute
What a great dachshund story.
What a beautiful sight…yet it seems odd that so many find it odd that another “mom” could, or would love another baby. Maternal instincts seem to kick in no matter the species. Don’t you love “babies” from dogs? And the dogs love you back! As stated in a previous comment..we are all God’ creatures. All animals, be it human or dog or cow, have the same heart to love it’s babies. GO VEGAN! The ultimate in animal love.
Oh, so cute!
That is just adorable! Way to go dachshund mommy!
I have never seen anything so cute in my life!
Very cute!!!
What a wonderful story and great pics! I posted this post to my Dogaholics blog!

That is quite possibly the cutest thing ever.
That is SOOOOO cute… see just when you thought things were going down… it shows you that there is HOPE that things will get better!
This is really darling…Great photos…Amazing how friendly, accepting and loving animals are…more than people that’s for sure!

We have more background on this great story if you’re interested.
This is the cutest thing we’ve ever seen!! Our wiener dog looks just like this and does the same thing with her stuffed “babies”!
i luv it. iyt adorale i could just eat it up.(not really(eating its just a medaphore))
That’s sooo sweet!
Pig’s are 10 time’s smarter than a dog. They are simple to house break. They LOVE peanut butter. For FOOD —
Get some 5 gallon bucket’s and put about 3 gallons of RAW GRAIN or CORN. Then Put about 2 gallons of “HOT” water in them. Replace the lid, wait about a week and you have pig food. AKA - Unfiltered whiskey. Feed them small portions from a baby and when they grow up give then 4 or 5 cups of “sour grain or corn” twice a day.. AND
NEVER EVER feed a pig DOG FOOD. Table scraps without bones is ok. Just mix in a little powdered milk and water for nurishment..
Awww, that is so cute. He’s one of the family already.
Hi:
Aww……..that’s super cute!!!! I can not believe that!!! It’s so shocking…and how could a dog accept a pig(not reject it) and raise the baby pig as if it was the dog’s own baby!! Thanks, I love this news!! It’s so cool!!

How sweet!
That is so great… Wow mother’s instinct really does take over
Hi, I totally love this pig and what a great dog she is to take such good care of Pink. I really would love to know how the story ended however, as Pink grew and so forth. Please respond and tell me how the story ended, I really want to know, thank you so much for your time…
How Sweet!
So Cute! I love pink and tink!
Your dogs are so cute and so is the pig! I love This !
Very cute and oh so sweet! I wonder how fair this is though. After being raised as a house pet and treated like a well loved dog, the piglet will most likely grow up to be brutally slaughtered after spending sometime being terrorized and possibly tortured in the slaughterhouse waiting area.
Pigs are social, intelligent and have emotional lives. They all deserve to be treated this well. If everyone posting here acted on their instincts to protect this little piggy and thousands like him by boycotting factory farmed meat, we could effect a real moral sea change. If not, you’re all simply being hypocritical.
lovely!!!!!
[...] Dogster for the love of the dog blog recently reported about a dachshund who added to her already challenging role of mothering three puppies. [...]
Why the surprise? Everybody knows dogs love bacon. She’s just looking to get a return on her investment, like any practical being.
I received the dachshunds and piggy pictures about a month ago in my in-box of E-mail. They are so cute and I have 4 dahshunds, So I really appreciate this. I find it amazing that thousands of people around the country received these pictures in their E-mail. I have friends in 38 states and all of them had either received them from me or someone else. Great pictures.
How cute.
One day, one of those dogs is going to realize they’re smelling bacon and go for the jugular.
How unbelievably sweet is this…Typical love that dogs have for everyone and everything! Look @ the love in the mommy’s eyes!
