Susan Bennett, 35, a single mother who is raising her 19-month-old son and 12-year-old daughter, thought she would never see her 9-year-old dog, Aragorn again, after he jumped out of the back of her truck during a cross-country drive. During an interview with Bennett, she found out that the private aviation community has a big heart. Sobbing, she said, “I’m so grateful to the wonderful people in the general aviation community for helping Aragorn to return home. Maine Aviation, Signature Flight Support and Air Royale International’s huge donations–God, all I can do is cry out of joy and say thank you, thank you.”

Dog racing injuries increase
More greyhounds broke legs at Dairyland racetrack in 2007

Seventy-six greyhounds broke their legs racing last year at Dairyland Greyhound Park, an 18.7% increase over the year before, state records show.

A broken leg, or hock, is considered to be one of the most serious injuries a greyhound can suffer at a track.
In all, a total of 462 injuries were reported at the track last year, a 19% increase from 2006.

LUCKY, China’s first seeing-eye dog who was trained with Australian help, is finding life in Beijing a trifle bureaucratic.
His new owner, Ping Yali, China’s first Paralympic gold medallist, is thrilled with the golden retriever, who has graduated from the country’s first guide dog training centre, but the pair are finding it difficult to be seen in public.
